First State House elections: Conservatives win two states, DRP beats VVP in Narikaton
January 5676

[Image: SC-State-House-D60-B119-E-B204-BFC5-72-F...fb05c8.jpg]

It took long preparations and the establishment of legal prerequisites but this month, the people of the member republics have finally went to the new state-level urns to elect their state legislative representatives to their respective State Houses. Political pundits were expressing different perspectives and prognosis on how these individual elections are going to turn out, many stated that the dynamics for these elections might radically change from Federal Elections, now lets look at the results to see if their opinions turn out to be true.

In Narikaton which traditionally votes conservative or centrist within the margin of error, the centrist Democratic Republican Party (DRP) has managed to overtake the VVP by a difference of four percentage points of voter share, which marks a recording result when compared to federal election within the same region. Political analysts from the University of Merenbürg (State capital of Narikaton) pointed out that Narikaton is more centrist when it comes to economic policy and moderately conservative on “morality” (civil liberty) issues hence they tend to shift between the VVP and the DRP, while the conservatives claim to be the “hosian party” allegations of corruption, the untamed corporate alliance and the almost libertarian stance on many issues have slowly caused the hosian-democratic demographic to shift toward the DRP or the TKP, in recent years, due to a general downturn in Thallerist momentum in the Triad, the DRP seems to be the main profiting party of this development. Other than that, the results hardly surprise, the VVP is in second place and the GRP in third. Many expect the DRP to approach the GRP rather than the VVP as to not invite the main rival into State government.

Darnussia paints a very different picture with a landslide victory for the conservative VVP. Considering that Darnussia has been considered core-VVP territory in federal elections many suspected the election to go this way, maybe less one-sidedly though. With more than 10% separating the second placed social democratic GRP and a rather strong TKP, it seems that Darnussia has steadfastly aligned itself with the hard right of the Triad. Key demographics in this state have been the established middle-class along the coastline as well as the rural regions of inner Darnussia. State chairman of the VVP, Ulrich Hölglelschepper, a internal rival of the sitting VVP president Kooi-Oppensteiner, voiced sympathies to form a state-government with the TKP.

The Republic of Himmelshtern was expected to be the most heatedly fought for member republic among the parties. Many very excited to see the first Himmelshtern-only results in the Triad and wild speculations on its outcome have been expressed by both hobbyist political commentators as well as professional analysts. A strong YVP showing with 30% closely followed by the center-right YBP clearly show us the political landscape of Himmelshtern. While not committing to far-right or far-left rhetorics with the TKP and the YAV (far-left socialist faction), the center-right clearly seems to dominate the formerly Beiteynese state, its also clear that the population of Himmelshtern values its unique cultural values as the two victorious parties have distinctly tried to incorporate Yeudi “flair” and traditions into their presentation as well as campaigning. Before the elections the YVP and the YBP have already committed to working together to make the Republic of Himmelshtern the pearl within a sea of gold.

BREAKING: CLENONBERG MURDER MYSTERY SOLVED. ALL PATHS LEAD TO WIEL.

Kooi-Oppensteiner resigning.

The reform government, which has been paralyzed by the ongoing political dynamics regarding the Clenonberg files, hastily prepared a press conference only attended by the president from the side of the administration. President Kooi-Oppensteiner entered the room with a grim look on his face, some say it resembled an odd mix of disappointment and disgust. Others stated that it look more like a resigned relief, which in light of the consequences of this reveal seems not unlikely. Kooi-Oppensteiner started to speak and everybody anxiously awaited the result.

“Without any rambling, yapping or fault evasion, I’d like to announce that today, in about ten minutes, everybody in the world can visit a special site hosted by the presidential chancellery, where the whole, uncensored government folder regarding the Clenonberg investigation can be accessed. Against the explicit wishes of certain members of my own party and other senior intelligence officials, I’ve decided to also publish the files of our agency the SASa. When confronted with the truth, and the abhorrent ignorance of the past representatives of the conservative party, I see no other possibility than resignation, I can no longer – in good faith – represent the VVP. They’ve known for years. Now, please, be quiet, I will also explain what happened that faitful day of the coup. President Vanessa zum Clenonberg has been cowardly murdered by a maritime attack on the presidential jet by agents of the now dissolved Jelbic Empire. Apparently the Security Apparatus, corporate elements, some VVP members, the military and Theodora Lackmann conspired to consolidate power and ultimately join the Jelbic Empire. Now ladies and gentlemen, the details you will have to read yourself. This is my last press statement, I have agreed with the other parties of the coalition as well as the oppositional TKP to hold early elections soon.”

This short but concise speech of the resigned President Kooi-Oppensteiner has left the whole Triad in shock. Political Analysts have been struggling to explain the potential consequences this could have for the political landscape of the Triad but they’re certain that this is going to shake up the majorities in the Senate and which political party the next President is going to hail from. Many are disappointed since the reform coalition brought a fresh collaborative wind into the aged traditional political processes of the Republics but no matter what we’ve wished for, the days of hope are over for now.

VVP emergency party conference designates Helmut Frank as presidential candidate and interim party chairman.
May 5677

Last month the last action of Kooi-Oppensteiner was to break the damn around the “Clenonberggate.” After his subsequent resignation the former VVP chairman and President sent the dominant right-wing party into political limbo desperately searching for a new head figure to lead the party into these volatile times, it appears that the usually well prepared party has failed to build personnel in the background and now had a wild competitive internal election on its party conference. The delegates of the VVP have voted the longtime Senator Helmut Frank from Darnussia into the conservative pole position if one could call this probably very challenging position. Frank is known to be a rather traditional VVP politician, he has steered clear of most controversies during his time in the legislature, but what makes him rather unpopular is his stance on Federalization, he was one of the conservatives which initially hindered former president Siske Ossel on achieving any progress on this matter. Other than that he is remarkably unremarkable. Political Pundits analyzed that this might be a rather bold move from the leading right-wing party considering that in this unique situation you’d need an equally unique individual to navigate it successfully. In any case, it now seems to be a certainty that Helmut Frank is going to face the Democratic Republican Annemarieke Schuhbeck.

The DRP challenger hails from Red Stad and is part of the “Hammer” faction of the centrist party, meaning she leans toward less economic liberalism and does not categorically reject interventionist policy which is almost communist for Bannerhafen standards. She comes from the art-scene and made a career as a painter before joining the DRP in its federalization mobilizing campaign. She has until now been a senior officer a centrist controlled ministry and has some experience. The campaigns are heating up and we’re excited to see how the candidates will fare in the coming months.

November 5677 Election paints electoral map blue
November 5677

After the shocking revelations of the Clenonberg gate and the subsequent chaos insuing in the reform coalition and within the offices of the conservative VVP, the people of the Triad have been called the to the ballot a year early. The polling numbers shortly before the election have shown drastic losses for the previously incumbent VVP which have realized in a dramatic way. The sudden resignation of the popular reformist Robert Kooi-Oppensteiner and the designation of the rather uncharismatic and policy-moderate Helmut Frank have doomed the VVP for this election cycle.

In the presidential race, Frank barely managed to enter the Run-off against the DRP candidate Schuhbeck, the former artist has dominated the second-round and won by a difference of twelve percentage points, leading to the first DRP presidency since the Lackmann coup. Interestingly, they social democratic GRP did not manage to profit from the slight left-wing shift in the Triad due to the DRP softening their centrist stance on economic issues, both Schuhbeck and the Senatorial DRP group ran on welfare reforms as well as increased corporate taxation.

On the Senatorial side the results aren’t much different but even worse for the VVP. The formerly predominant conservative party has finished last with 18% followed by the 21% strong TKP in third place, the GRP in second and a landslide victory for the centrists with 34% of the vote going to them. The Clenonberggate and the involvement of the VVP in the conspiracy surrounding the disappearance of the former president have pushed all factions and most of its electorate away from the traditional powerhouse of the Triad and have evened the playing field for most of the other parties. Additionally the DRP’s chances for success were increased due to the Yeudi Citizen Party deciding to retire to state level politics in Himmelshtern, endorsing the DRP as the leading force for “yeudi matters.” It seems that the VVP has lost the trust of the other factions with even the Thallerists declining to work with them should the opportunity for a coalition arise. From the victor’s perspective, Schuhbeck and her deputies in the Senate have all the possibilities, every faction offered their hand in coalitionary marriage and signaled their readiness for a joint program for the coming term. Many seem to think that the most likely choice for a partnership would be with the GRP, which has seemed unsympathetic to a administration with the DRP but already announced that their participation “would not come cheap.” In any case, for now the transparency advocates and liberals of the nation rejoice at the possibility of change.

Schuhbeck allies with TKP in surprise-deal of the century
May 5678

Considering that strong showing of the centrist political momentum and Annemarieke Schuhbecks landslide results in the last election, the negotiations to form a governing coalition have taken surprisingly long. Pundits are split on why the political landscape of the Triad have exhausted the public’s patience while forming the new administration under the DRP banner. Some argue that Schuhbeck is cautious and tries not to repeat the mistakes of past non VVP administrations which seems reasonable considering the extremely unsuccessful presidency of Klara Fein (GRP). Others state that the DRP is still trying to figure out their new role as the dominant political force in the three republics. While the reasons still elude us, it seems that the president has managed to finally seal the deal with a partner no one really expected. The DRP has reached an agreement with the grey Thallerist TKP.

Analyzing the agreement the reasons seem obvious, the TKP has sold their confidence with a cheap pricetag, basically lowballing the other factions in the Senate by only demanding two key ministerial positions which are agriculture and Defense which also seems to pacify sceptics within the DRP who were trying to avoid Thallerist influence in foreign policy and cultural affairs. Another relevant aspect that is likely to be one of the main reasons for centrist-thallerist cooperation is a clause cementing the option to find “fluid majorities” for all policy decisions except for a few priorly coordinated changes. The new coalition, dubbed Liberal-Thallerist administration in social media, have revealed that they’re going to do structural reforms together especially in state organizational efforts, military modernization and army specialization as well as some welfare policies.

Many were asking how the political shift in the interior will affect the exterior, the DRP tries to communicate that fundamentally this is no reason to geopoliticly re-align themselves in any way shape or form. “We do have a different understand of how we conduct ourselves on the international stage.” Said Schuhbeck. She’s been hinting as more cooperative and humanitarian efforts on the Artanian continent as well as a potential renewed deepening with Narikaton and Darnussias historical ally Deltaria.

Triad Foreign Minister welcomes Zardic Approach
August 5678

The Zardic government which has recently announced their renewed interest in international affairs have approached the recently formed cabinet of President Annemarieke Schuhbeck and realized a meeting with the Director of Foreign Affairs, Petra Alders, in Bannerhafen. While the relationship between the Triad's legal predecessor, the Dual Republic of Narikaton & Darnussia and Zardugal suffered from ideological friction it seems that the less anti-socialist DRP-led government as well as a shift toward pragmatism within the Zardic officials led to a positive outcome in the meeting.

According to the official records of the Director’s secretary, the meeting lasted for almost two hours after which Director Alders approached the media to announce that Zardugal and Narikaton, Darnussia and Himmelshtern have reached an agreement which includes 7 billion Triad Credits upon a certain degree of economic liberalization. Members of the press inquired on the exact wording of the agreement and if there was such a thing as a written agreement but were met with evasion from the Director.

Triad Senate passes Condemnation Resolution against Valruzian MP’s statement
26. August 5678

After the news outlet “Valruzia Today” published a recent story regarding discriminating and hostile statements against the yeudi minority in Valruzia in which he incited religious persecution, the Senate of the Triad passed a resolution in which it condemns the MP’s statement. The bill was proposed by the conservative VVP and gained support by all factions with a notable exception, the junior coalition partner TKP. The Thallerists remained neutral on the issue, neither backing it nor voting in rejection. It represents an uncharacteristic showing of bipartisan unity on yeudi interests. All supporting parties have had speakers verbally support the bill and condemn the statements of the Valruzian politician. Author of the bill, Heike Beck (VVP) said “All members of this serene chamber should be disgusting by these statements and we expect the government to approach the appropriate Valruzian authorities to make it clear that the Triad as the protector power of the Yeudi people will not idly stand by as anti-yeudi sentiment or other discriminatory rhetorics take hold to threaten the good constituent people of our country. We stand in solidarity with not only the Yeudis in the Triad or Amudim but also those on the world and would like to honor the brave words of Mr. Romero of Kalistan.”

Schuhbeck’s first move in Foreign Policy: The Triad and Kundrati
October 5678

While the deal with Zardugal already marked the beginning of shifts in foreign policy interests, it was initiated by Zardugal itself, now that the government has warmed up to its new role and the DRP cleaned up what they called a “Bureaucratic mess only the VVP could leave for its successors” Schuhbeck is ready for her own projects. Combining information from the records of the Directorate of Foreign Affairs as well as insider sources we see that the liberal government of the Triad approached Kundrati to reconcile with the democraticly invigorated regime. What many of our readers will know is that the relationship between the Kundrati Union and the member republics of the Triad have been cold since the end of the “Hubris War.” Especially the political right under conservative VVP leadership were eager to avoid Kundrati “as a sinkhole for cooperative ambitions.” It seems that with a new generation of politicians and pragmatists in power that this dogma has been abandoned.

According to the Directorate a legal entity called the “Triad-Kundrati Reconciliation Investment Fund” (TKRIF) is in the final moments of its planning stage, adhering to some would call “Triad Orthodoxy” the administration of Schuhbeck tries to improve relations by investing into the economy of Kundrati, an economy which had been damaged by decades of fascist mismanagement and war. Experts propose the idea that the TKRIF is supposed to tie in with the so called “Kundrati Income Doubling Plan” to help mobilize the Kundrati economy by speeding up capital lucration. Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Steiner (TKP) confirmed a few key facts about this plan: 1. 50% of the investment is designated as loans with very cheap conditions and 2. The other half are direct investments into the economy in which corporations and some semi-state entities from Narikaton, Darnussia and Himmelshtern are going to provide the money but let the government of Kundrati decide where to exactly funnel it.

Peace and Harmony activists hope for a drastic improvement of relations between the North-Artanian nation and our Three Republic pearl of the south, only time will tell if these plans bear fruit.

Preparing for something big: Standardization institute and Accounting reforms
February 5679

President Schuhbeck sitting among her faction in the Senate

We assume that most of our readers will be bored by this headline, so were we, but at the end of the day, even if the content of the reforms does not excite at first glance, it was a major political development of the month. After a few initial foreign policy successes, President Schuhbeck has started her first domestic project which she previously agreed on with her partners from the TKP, the creation of the “Norming and Standardization Authority” (NSA) based in Red Stad and a legal code for accounting standards. The authoring Senator Ulrike Fendlje voiced: “To fulfil the necessary oversight responsibilities over the economy and our corporations, the State must have clear as well as transparent information from our economic players so we can see if they follow the compliance acts flanking these reforms.”

The introduction of the accounting reform introduces a clear framework on how to report yearly earnings based on various factors. The DRP lawmakers have been cautious as to not overburden small or medium sized businesses but legislate enough to gain insight into the notoriously evasive titans such as Passschiffe AG, Narikan or Thaller Industries. Some were surprised at the TKP agreeing to these changes considering they’re the political arm of their namesake family, political pundits explain that the interests of the party and the family have been increasingly different, Professor Bernhard Wallentin even went as far as to state that the “TKP is Thallerist in name only.” While both VVP and GRP Senators were fuming at their mouths due them finding the reforms either don’t go far enough or are too much for the companies to handle, actual economists as well as finance businessmen are excited at the prospects because it ensures a good informational foundation to base investments decisions on.

Additionally after the passage of these bills, President Schuhbeck took to the public and announced that these first steps are just preparation for something. We expect that she was alluding to her green energy transformation plans which most of the electorate still view with suspicion because fossil energy has been a major economic component of the wealth of the Triad and the odd silence of the TKP on these topics.

Thallers withdraw support from TKP: Party rebrands as National Union
April 5679

[Image: be3d3974-5864-4dba-8ad7-39e29baf5a62.jpg]
Hauptmann at the former TKP headquarters

After united support of the coalition on the past reforms planned by Schuhbeck, the strain between the namesake family and the Thallerist Conservative Party have been visible to the public, in a recent internal scandal a major Senate figure of the TKP resigned from his party posts and instead joined the VVP together with some others of the Orthodox Thallerist wing of the TKP. In response the junior coalition partner called the party presidium for an emergency session in its headquarters in Bannerhafen. While representatives of the media were camped outside for hours, the grandes of the TKP were debating on how to proceed politically. In the middle of the night, the officials ended their meeting and exited the offices to announce their results to the media.

Newly designated Chairman and Vice-President Yvonne Hauptmann approached a large bubble of reporters to state the new status of the party. “Obviously we are not going to dissolve, that would be laughable in respect to the fact that we’re currently holding government responsibility in the Schuhbeck administration. I’d like to quell the over-the-top media hysteria by correcting some perceptions. The former party members surrounding the Thaller family loyalists have been a small but vocal minority within our party, the relationship with the family itself has been deteriorating for years, it was only a matter of time until we went our separate ways. For at least two election cycles now, this party has been a safe haven for the good-hosians of the Triad who’re fed up with the corrupt shenanigans of the VVP and the insufferable progressiveness of the GRP, we’re committed to continuing our mission of consolidating the Right of the Three Republics, especially those not represented by the conservatives. For this sake, we’ve decided to rebrand the party, Ladies and Gentlemen I hope you’re just as excited as we are to witness the birth of the National Union.”
