President Mendelev accepts invitation to Kaliburg and condemns 'social media disinformation' by NDP
In a statement to reporters of the Likatonian Chronicle, he announced he has gladly accepted the invitation to Kaliburg and says he hopes to rebuild ties with all our neighbours. When asked about Kalistan's ambition to annex Athosia, he replied simply that "the people in Athosia should decide: not me, not you, and certainly not the NDP."
He also condemned alleged social media disinformation by NDP supporters and said "the trial was done in the highest court in the land and found the former president and some of her colleagues guilty of corruption". He also stated that all those convicted had a right to appeal should they choose to and that the Social Conservative Party is committed to ridding the land from corruption.
When asked about the alleged 'lack of mandate' to rule President Mendelev simply replied "The election is in a couple months so there isn't a point in calling a new one, but if this paramount scandal had happened against one of the ruling parties then I would have called an election should there have been a year or more wait."
With the conflict between Beiteynu and Xsampa heating up, protests and peace accords in Clovisport and the highly anticipated summit in Kaliburg, President Mendelev has a lot of work to do and only a few months until the next election. As no party seems to dominate public opinion, experts at the Chronicle believe there will be yet another hung parliament, with negotiations to follow regarding coalitions.

President Bertram Mendelev comments on his travels as he returns from Kalistan after visiting the Empress
The President returned from his long-anticipated visit to Kaliburg to re-establish relations with the Empire. In the press-conference at Clovisport International Airport, he described the talks as "constructive" and thanked Kalistan for its hospitality. Furthermore, Mendelev reaffirmed his position on Athosia, saying there was "no indication from Kaliburg they would be looking to annex Athosia" but reminded the press that Likatonians should not involve ourselves in these matters so long as International Law is being kept to.
The President also announced Naval Forces will be stationed in Likatonian waters and that no foreign military ships will be allowed to enter, including our allies until the situation between Xsampa and Beiteynu is resolved. He also committed to continuing peace talks in the capital to resolve the Kalopian-Solentia conflict. He said he continues to condemn all acts of aggression by every party (perhaps purposefully vague) and calls for a return to global peace and diplomacy. Mendelev also quickly announced that humanitarian aid sent by the Government has successfully reached charitable organisations in Solentia who will distribute it accordingly.
Rumours in Congress are that the President will make a final trip to Gaduridos before the election, to hold talks about normalising relations.

PRESIDENT MENDELEV ATTACKED BY A COW
Pirland, Likatonia
President Bertram Mendelev has been hospitalised after suffering from a smashed groin after being attacked by a cow whilst speaking to local farmers. In a statement the President's office said the President was on his way to a full recovery. With elections delayed due to terran-wide internet technical issues, the acting President is hoping to capitalise and make further inroads on voters whilst trying to advance peace talks throughout terra, especially the conflict in Solentia.

Senior SCP Minister Richard Hammer announces SCP will undergo 'radical changes' after President Mendelev said to be enlightened after affair with cow
The senior minister announced in a statement at the party's headquarters in Clovisport that the party will be 'aiming to catch more fish' in the next election by affirming a more populist message. He says that the nation has been for far too long been under the hands of corrupt leaders such as Elliott and more honesty is needed going forward. Hammer also says the party will decrease taxes on working-class people and increase corporation taxes, something that many want to see happen. However, Hammer rules out on undermining key party values such as been staunchly opposed to 'woke politics' which he refers to as nonsense. This was all decided after Mendelev apparently felt 'enlightened' after the cow situation and on his hospital bed directed Hammer to make this statement. We are expected to see Mendelev return to normal duties in the coming days.
