3. Controllers
Controllers are players who are either the primary storyteller of a nation or one of its secondaries. One is the lead, the others tag along. You can see the full list of available nations (and continents) on https://prtcy.com/library/world/.
- Only 1 primary is technically possible per nation
- Primaries have full control over the roleplay content and direction of a nation
- Secondaries need to coordinate with the primary and conform to the primary's roleplay content and direction for that nation
- Secondaries are only technically possible on nations which have a primary
- Secondaries are automatically removed from a nation when the primary leaves or is removed
- Only 11 secondaries are technically possible per nation
The maximum # of allowed primaries and secondaries per player is configurable by members of the mod team. This setting may change according to general community feedback, overall activity in the community and the decision making of the mod team itself.
Make requests and manage your slots on https://prtcy.com/library/controllers/.
Quote:Note just for feedback: the "story-lead" 2nd primary is removed to simplify; the limit of 2 primaries per player will remain.
2A. Requirements
To be eligible for a primary slot - meaning to be granted full control over the roleplay content and direction of a nation - you must:
- Have above average sportsmanlike conduct - meaning you are generally cooperative and collaborative with most players, engaging, helpful and especially understanding of the difficulties, limitations and different points of view and roleplay styles of other players
- Have exceptional respect for prior and established roleplay, especially if the nation you seek to control is not obscure/underdeveloped
- Have exceptional respect for the cultural aspect of the game and cultural composition of nations
- Have great standing as far as the community guidelines are concerned (here)
- Have good standing as a player who does not abandon stories involving multiple players and/or jumps frequently between nations
- Not roleplay with your other primary/secondary slots in other nations in a direct and/or impactful manner
If you're new to the game and the community, joining up as a secondary, first, is generally the way to go.
Quote:Note just for feedback: the 1 nation per 1 continent will no longer apply, as a result of this proposal.
2B. Moderation
Management of controllers and limits is available on https://prtcy.com/library/controllers/. Members of the mod team:
- Must review all requests on a case-by-case basis having the above requirements in mind
- Must remove controllers who violate the community guidelines (here), as soon as possible
- Must coordinate discussions on any disputes between primaries and secondaries from the same nation
- Must remove primaries after 2 months of no roleplay
- Can replace a primary after 1 month of no roleplay if another player requests the slot
- Can change the # of allowed primaries and secondaries per player, at anytime

A quick reminder to everyone that you can reply on this thread to provide feedback.
Especially if you see problems and want to offer solutions.

Re: 2.B.4
I think I am OK with a 2 month limit for inactive primaries, but would suggest we consider:
At 1 month inactive, a primary can be taken by another player if they request it (e.g. if I am gone for a month, I remain in that seat unless someone asks for the primary spot)
At 2 months inactive, a primary is removed regardless of requests.

How about:
- Can replace a primary after 1 month of no roleplay if another player requests the slot
- Can remove primaries after 2 months of no roleplay
RE: Game Rules: Update to the controllers section - Zanz - 13-03-2025
I'm fine with that formulation, though I suggest "Will" instead of "Can", at least for the 2 month timespan - I think after 2 months inactivity the mods should be pruning players actively, it should not be a passive "well we'll do it if there's a request" - Primaries should be ended if a player has not done anything there for 2 months.

Sure. Shouldn't we automate that, though, as a better solution?

Automation would be ideal, I agree - but what do you use as the 2 month timestamp? Last log in? Last post (is this possible?). I'd personally prefer their last IC post - which would probably be difficult to determine programmatically.
I'd say I guess:
1) Any player who hasn't logged in in 2 months is auto-deactivated.
2) Mods keep an eye out for players who have logged in but have not posted ICly in 2 months. They should be manually deactivated.
Probably an edge case though.

Makes sense. My suggestion is to take a look at usage patterns like this mechanically in the future.
I've updated 2B based on our discussion and your suggestions.

Copy of previous version:
Quote:Controllers
There are Primary and Secondary Controllers, as well as a temporary role which allows controls over a Nation.
Controller roles allow you to play Legacy and use a nation 'slot' to its fullest potential.
Primary
Primaries are the main player and controller of a nation. They have the last-say and control over the Nation they're the Primary of.
You can be the Primary of ONE nation.
Requirements:
1. Approval from the Mod Team
2. Good Standing with the Rules; The Mods consider sportsmanlike conduct on multiplayer RP and respecting established RP to weigh heavily.
Story-Lead
Temporary Primary for a specific story-arc to be broady outlined in the request for the role.
Stands somewhere between secondary and primary to improve player-movement.
Requirements:
1. Approval from the Mod Team
2. Good Standing with the Rules; The Mods consider sportsmanlike conduct on multiplayer RP and respecting established RP to weigh heavily.
3. Outlining the goals of a specific story, on demand anonymously if the story shouldnt be spoiled.
Secondary
Secondaries are 'helpers' or 'contributors' to a nation of sorts; They can be other Parties, factions or just a generic OOC co-Controller.
How the Secondary works or what their privileges are is to be coordinated with the Primary who as stated priorly has the LAST SAY.
You can be Secondary in ONE nation.
Requirements:
1. Approval from the Primary, if there already is one Secondary, you also need to get approval from the Team.
2. Good Standing with the Rules; The Mods consider sportsmanlike conduct on multiplayer RP and respecting established RP to weigh heavily.
3. Has to be on a different continent than your Primary 'Role' Nation if you have one.
Notes:
Generally we decide on a case-by-case basis and will consider special circumstances from different viewpoints before making a decision.
If issues arise, us as a Team will try to work with the Community before taking any actions, hand out warnings or set sanctions.
In extreme cases we might have to take swift actions such as extreme trolling for example.
In cases of excessive rude behaviour, disrepectfulness or unwillingess to be a cooperative part of the community we reserve the right to revoke Control roles.
Obviously for a Story-Lead the Mods are gonna be watchful for inactivity, we'd always appreciate a headsup if you can no longer persue the story you've outlined.
How can I request a role?
Please post a request [HERE].
This request, depending on the role you want should include:
1) The Nation you want to play in
2) As which role
3) The specific requirements for either a 1) Primary 2) Secondary or 3) Story-Lead
Bridging the gap:
If you had a authorized Second Account on Classic you are allowed to take over both of those nations as a Primary Controller.
This does not apply for people who had three nations via a Normal Account, Second Account and FBC. You have to choose TWO in that case.
Once you resign control or lose control over one of these nations you fall into the regular rule scheme, ending the 'Bridge-clause' privilege.
