Ahmadi Council for Justice and Virtue Aims to Secure Capital

Following the collapse of the Majatran Crown Restorationists Solentia has endured another bout of anarchy with no central government. Ahmadi clerics, tribal elders, coastal business elites and representatives of the middle class have come together to reform the Ahmadi Council for Justice and Virtue to provide leadership in this time of crisis.

The Council has authorised tribal and Ahmadi fighters from Saspain Wilayet to March on the capital Oda to remove lingering elements of the royalist regime that has lost authority through the rest of the country. Although it is not known what has happened to Khalid ibn Faisal al-Majatri.

Ahmadists Form Political Party to Oppose Secularist Government

Following the emergence of a secularist and leftist government with the United Workers Party taking power, Ahmadist clerics, tribal leaders and conservative businessmen have come together to form the Party of Ahmadism. The new party has committed itself to restoring Ahmadism to the heart of Solentian governance after the United Workers Party forced through legislation severely curtailing religious freedom in the country. The United Workers Party has ignored the majority Ahmadi population of Solentia and has at a stroke undone previous legislation that enshrined the special place of Ahmadism in the constitution.

Leadership of Hezb-e Ahmadi meet in the capital Oda
A party convention in the capital Oda has selected widely revered cleric Mullah Mohammed Yummah to lead the party. He accepted but nominated a 21 member council balancing regional, tribal and urban interests to ensure a healthy balance. Party strategists have detailed the United Workers Party policies are deeply unpopular and Hezb-e Ahmadi will easily win the next elections scheduled for 5589. The party draws on deep traditions of political Ahmadism in Solentia and will likely have popular support in many parts of the country, however the United Workers Party is fully entrenched in governance and with access to state resources and has strong support in urban areas and amongst Solentia's secular intellectuals and ethnic minorities.

Formation of Jaish-e Ahmadi

Various tribal militia's have come together to form the Army of Ahmadi in northern Solentia. Under Solentia law paramilitary activity is legal, and until recent law changes gun ownership was not restricted. Despite the 5585 change in gun ownership laws, the government has barely been able to make a dent into gun ownership, particularly in more rural areas of the country.
Jaish-e Amhadi Fighters
The Army of Ahmadi has drawn on an old name from the Ahmadists who took on the secularist regime in the Third Solentian Civil War in the 5250's. A spokesman for the paramilitary organisation has stated the Army of Ahmadi is determined to protect Ahmadism in the face of an assault from the United Workers Party against the traditional values of Solentian society.

United Workers Party Responds to Growth in Paramilitary Activity
With the recent uptick in paramilitary groups such as the Army of Ahmadi, the ruling political party, The United Workers Party, has announced it's plans to introduce legislation that would quell any potential rebellion.

Many have criticized this decision from President Khan, as a way to quell any power any other party could have prior to the election. Solentia Remains Key Source of Terran Poppy Crops

Despite having centuries old harsh anti-drug laws that prevent production, sale and consumption of recreational drugs, Solentia has a long history of opium poppy cultivation and production. Harsh soil and a lack of rain prevent agriculture in much of the country, although opium poppy is a hardy and resilient crop that thrives in poor conitions.
Although recreational drug use is forbidden in Solentia, most opium has historically been exported through drug cartels operating in Solentia's eastern ports to Seleya where Kalistan used to be a major destination. In recent years much of the crop heads west to Kalopia, Deltaria, Jelbania and Zardugal which all have more liberal policies on recreational drug usage.

Opium poppy is a staple crop across Solentia, easy to grow and with high demand in other continents for the opium that can be produced from the poppy seed.
Political Consequences
Although growing the crop is not illegal in Solentia, the profits often accrue to nefarious organisations. As well as major cartels operating in Solentia ports, both the Jaish-e Ahmadi and Da Khalko Tufaan, two anti-government paramilitary groupings, are known to financially benefit from this illicit trade using funds to pay fighters and accrue weapons. The opium trade, while a financial boon to small farmers in remote rural villages, continues to fuel instability in Solentia.

Jaish-e Ahmadi Launch Attacks Against Solentian Police

The Ahmadi militant group Jaish-e Ahmadi have launched a series of attacks across Solentia against the Solentian Police. Dozens of police are reported to have been killed, with likely equal numbers of militants also dead. Several police stations have been destroyed in apparent suicide bomb attacks, with other key police leaders likely the victims of assassination attempts. A statement reported to be from Jasih-e Ahmadi is widely circulating in the media...

Solentian Police have come under attack from Ahmadi militants.
Centralised institutions have been extremely weak in Solentia for decades since the breakdown of the monarchy in the 5550's, although in recent years the United Workers Party has attempted to reinstate central government, including through the reestablishment of police and military forces. Other measures have been put in place to moderniseand seculariseSolentia, although this has led to an increasing backlash from hardline Ahmadists. Until very recently gun ownership was completely legal in Solentia and despite changes to national laws, it is highly likely the country remains awash with weapons.

Fifty Years of Confusion in Solentia
June 5588
Solentia is a great mystery to many, not least including lots of its own citizens. As Solentia gears up for its first contested elections since 5549 this journal provides the following timeline to get you up to speed with recent history.
5536 - Communism, or Ahmadi-Socialism
In 5536 the Revolutionary Communists took power in Solentia. However this was no ordinary Communist movement, as its leadership shared its ideological inspiration between Communism and political Ahmadism. It's political heavyweights included Ikramullah Yousafzai, Turialai Shinwari and Muhammad al-Qafir, with Yousafzai serving as the Head of State between 5536 and 5549. The blend of the two ideologies was significant, as Solentia had typically switched between periods of progressive left-wing and reactionary right-wing governance. The Revolutionary Communists combined left-wing economic policies, including the nationalisation of oil and gas production with very religious policies. The party also saw enhanced support for historic ethnic minority groups in Solentia, with the formation of the Ashker Democratic Autonomous Region.
Amongst the many achievements of this government was a pro-active foreign policy with membership of the Majatran Security Cooperation Agreement the defeat of Ahmadi State in Majatra in the early 5540's. The party later renamed itself the Ahmadi Workers Party, before losing to Majatran Royalists in 5549 and subsequently disappearing under the new regime.
5549 - Monarchy
Ahmadi Socialism gave way to Majatran Royalism in the 5549 election, with Khalid ibn Faisal al-Majatri being elected President, and claiming descent from the Solentian monarchy that was overturned at the end of the Third Solentian Civil War in the 5260's. Al-Majatri represented a return to dominance for the Majatran minority in Solentia, and benefitted from a split within the Ahmadi Workers Party that threatened civil war in 5548. The Majatran Royalists represented a moderate path and won the April 5549 legislative and presidential elections.
In a six year period of rule the Royalists crushed a communist uprising and introduced measures to purge any legacy of communism as well as economic measures to end the socialism and collectivisation of the previous decades. However, as the Royalists were overrepresented in the ethnic minority Majatran community, it was only a matter of time before a second a more successful violent challenge to Royalist authority emerged.
5559 - The Ahmadists Strike Back
Yet again, a fragile and moderate government was left without significant popular support as armed Ahmadist raised the banner of jihad. The Ahmadi Council for Justice and Virtue led a brutally effective uprising that had reimposed a Ahmadi theocracy by 5560. In a short legislative spree the Ahmadists restored the supremacy of Ahmadi and tribal law codes and kickstarted economic growth with total deregulation of the economy. Astonishingly in 5567 Mullah Ahmad Umoor then dissolved the government having declared Ahmadism secure in Solentia once more.
5567 - The Void...
For 16 years Solentia drifted with no central government and law being applied according to religious and tribal practices. Solentia disappeared from international and regional politics and the people remained poor.
5583 - The Left Returns
In 5583, Gedi Khan and his followers in the Mutahad Kargar Gond secured power. In some ways the MKG represented a return to the Revolutionary Communists in the 5530's and 40's, implementing collectivisation and state ownership of housing. In other ways the MKG represented a return to historic leftism influences from outside Majatra, with promotion of state athiesm, attacks on religious practice and the promotion of highly progressive social policies. This rapid transformation of the country led to an immediate backlash with conservative Ahmadists forming a political party, and various militia groups threatening violence.
5588 - Multiparty Democracy Once More?
And so we come to the present day and a Solentia that finds itself at a cross-roads. Will the nation choose a multiparty democracy, or will the nation choose another violent civil war? Once again the party is torn between two worldviews, one socialist and progressive, the other religious and reactionary. This magazine will continue to monitor the country, we can only hope Solentia finds a peaceful path forwards.

Hezb-e Ahmadi in Election Campaign Mode

Hezb-e Ahmadi has submitted a full list of candidates in all five Welayat as it hopes to achieve power in elections planned for November 5588. The party has promised to restore Ahmadism to its central position in society, overturn progressive legislation, end collectivisation of agriculture and homes, empower education after years of underfunding and introduce economic reforms to rebuild a faltering economy.
In highly conservative Solentia Hezb-e Ahmadi strategists believe the party can win an outright majority. However Mutahad Kargar Gond have held power for nearly five years and are firmly entrenched in urban areas, and the Da Roshantya Shora are an unknown third force that are polling well in some rural and urban lower middle class communities.

Intimidation in rural areas?
International observers have raised warning signs that the forthcoming elections are likely to be subject to various electoral irregularities with a risk of ballot stuffing and intimidation. In many rural areas armed Jaish-e Ahmad militants have openly been observed threatening candidates and voters. This will be the first contested election in Solentia since 5549, and the stakes are high as Hezb-e Ahmadi threaten to overturn all of the reforms introduced by the government in th last five years.

VIOLENCE BREAKS OUT OVER ELECTION RESULTS
November 5588
After Election Day, supporters of Gedi Khan and the United Workers Party started to protest outside the nation's capital. As counter protestors started to appear, the opposing protestors were physically assaulted and some were even met with lethal aggression. A group of 5 soldiers who claim to align politically with the United Workers Party proceeded to open fire in rural areas on supporters of Hazb-e Ahmadi Party. Police are still searching for 3 of the suspects, one of which who they allege to be 28 year old Muhammed Oud of Thepinese. If he is seen, police are asking to contact them immediately.
One of the perpetrators, who was identified as Basel Ali, was caught due to leaving a manifesto behind with the alias "Batal Altabaqat Aleamila", which translates to "Working Class Hero". Within the manifesto, he states;
Quote:The Traditionalist's have gone out of their way to suppress the working class. Solentia deserves better than some religious nutjobs who want to enslave us all to the elite. I am doing what needs to be done, I am not sorry and I have no concern for the consequences afterwards.
