Jacobean Cildania (5321 - 5369) - Wu Han - 08-12-2025 The following is a reproduction of a post/directory by Jamescfm, posted on the Particracy Classic forum on Dec 11, 2023. The posts which were originally linked will be reproduced where possible within this thread. Entries from James' list which are italicized are missing. In this thread, I have created an out-of-character record of the history of Cildania during the period when it was ruled by Grand Prince Ġakbu Maria. For me personally, this was among the most fun and engaging role-play I have been involved with. The aim of this thread is that other players who might want to read through role-play from this period are able to do so easily. As a secondary effect, it allows any future players to easily understand the key developments in the country's recent history. If nothing else, it provides me with an opportunity to revisit some of the best moments. Key events have been marked with an asterisk to make them easier to locate. I. Transition to democracy II. Polling in last place of four parties for the next general election, Bandiera Waħda leader Denzilee Depares could face a leadership review within the next 12 months according to sources within the party. The BW is consistently coming last in opinion polls for the 5323 election, prompting friction with the movement. Sources suggest local party heads are encouraging party members to call for the review, though none have yet made this position public. Depares, who was one of the founding members of the party, has been blamed for making the BW less electable through his combative populist style and hardline views on women's rights and LGBT+ rights. He has also been blamed for not creating sufficient daylight between the BW and the Constitutionalist Party (PK-AgK), who share some of Depares' conservative viewpoints. Depares is consistently ranked as the least popular national party leader, especially among female voters, but has up-til-now maintained a loyal following among grassroots members for his outspoken manner. Under BW party rules, a leadership review can be called if a petition of members reaches 30% of the total membership - or if a majority of the party's elected representatives vote that they have no confidence in the leadership. With no members yet elected to the legislature, only the former option is viable. Women represent around 18% of the total membership and are seen as particularly distateful of Depares' anti-feminist stances. Hebilean Cildanians - who are a key part of the BW's electoral coalition - are also distrustful of the non-Hebilean, Qart Qildar-born party leader. If Depares was toppled in a leadership review, his longtime associates Alec Benaglia (party deputy leader) and Yan Despott (party foreign affairs spokesperson) would be the favourites to take over. Former party defence spokeswoman Margerita Giudice has been speculated as a more moderate and media-friendly candidate, but her gender makes it less likely that the highly conservative and deeply religious party membership would vote for her. A wild card in the leadership race could be Lażżru Alessi, who is an ethnic Hebilean with a history of controversial statements about Yeudis. RE: Jacobean Cildania (5321 - 5369) - Wu Han - 08-12-2025 BW in huge election upset - largest party with 40% of the vote 5 September 5321 The snap election prevented a leadership review, but controversial BW leader Depares holds the cards now. In a historic electoral upset, the Bandiera Waħda has emerged the largest party in the first multi-party elections since the coup of 5283. The conservative outfit took 39.6% of the vote and an incredible tally of 145 seats in the Council of Deputies. This makes the BW the largest party and makes it difficult for a coalition to be formed without them. A coalition with the BW would require all three other parties to unite, while a conservative coalition of the BW and the national-conservative Constitutionalist Party (PK) would have a decent majority in the legislature. The party won a majority of the vote (54.6%) in the Jilrit region, where the AgK alliance ran a joint list and the PLR stood aside to minimise the chances of the BW. In Kinaan region the Bandiera Waħda won a staggering 52.1% of the vote, while in Aheblun they won 45%. They are the largest party in both regions and finished a strong second in Gilzon. As expected the party performed very poorly in major cities - which are more secular and cosmopoltian - and stormed to victory in Hebilean areas. Some Hebilean villages went as strongly as 80% in favour of the BW, on exceptionally high turnout. In Qart Qildar, the largest city and capital of Cildania, the BW received less than 10% of all votes cast - including an average of just 2% in polling booths around the city's largest universities. As the national results map began to fill in, it resembled a sea of blue with small but densely populated red, yellow and orange dots scattered throughout. Just weeks ago, Bandiera Waħda leader Denzilee Depares was on the verge of a leadership review amid poor poll numbers and party infighting. After an impressive and energetic campaign, Depares has now been given an extraordinary boost by leading his party to a stunning election result. His job is surely safe, with far-right leadership contender Lażżru Alessi being dropped from the party list entirely for conspiring against the leadership. For Depares to be made Prime Minister, however, would be extraodinary given his strongly religious views on LGBT+ rights and women's rights. He would be required to compromise his strident views or nominate another party member to the top job for the PK to consider supporting a BW-led government, perhaps angling for the Justice Ministry instead. Alec Benaglia, the party's deputy leader, and Yan Despott, its foreign affairs spokesman, stayed loyal during the leadership crisis and could be rewarded with top jobs including the Prime Minister's office if the DW were to enter government. Margerita Giudice, who challenged Depares's leadership from the left, could make a reappearence in a cabinet position - possibly as foreign minister - to reassure neighbours and allies. She was demoted to a lower spot on the party's list but won a seat regardless due to the party's over-performance. Whatever government is formed, even if the BW is not involved, this year's elections are a shock for the ages and could have an exceptional impact on the burgeoning democracy of Cildania.
