Explosion in offshore Badaran Oil Rig - at least 40 dead
Massive explosion lit up the skyline off the coast of Marrakesh after an Oil rig went up in flames. Safety watchdogs have had concerns about standards of work which prioritise maximum oil profits and little safety precautions. At least 40 people have been killed in the explosion and 70 people are still missing.

Protests in Marrakesh after alleged government coverup regarding oil rig disaster
Protestors in Marrakesh, furious about the oil rig disaster coverup, have taken to the streets to protest government corruption. This is amidst an economic crisis where many are without fuel, despite Badara being the largest producer of gas and oil. The official death toll of the disaster is 43 however many protesters believe the figure to be much higher. The Government is expected to deploy the military to curb protests and many fear a huge backlash.

Badaran Military Overrun in Marrakesh by protestors
The Badaran Military has been overrun by protestors seeking reform and change to the country which has been plagued by corruption for many years. Whilst the movement is decentralised, it has posed extremely potent to the government and despite 129 people being injured by tear gas and rubber bullets, protestors continue in full strength demanding reform to the nation.

Badaran Leader promises reform, democracy and resignation
The Leader of Badara, Abu Bakr has decided that he will resign in 4 months and use this time to begin steps to allow for a fair system to take place. The constitution he said, will be replaced to provide more participation of the people and disinfect Badara of its corrupt institutions. Abu Bakr again reminded the people to not partake in violence and promises all sectors of Badaran society that they will have representation in the constitution.

New Constitution announced in Badara
The Badaran leadership has taken years instead of the promised 4 months but the new constitution has finally been announced. Here is a brief overview of the legislature:
1. Mandatory attendance of assemblies
Adults will now be required to attend local assemblies where they can voice their opinion regarding law changes and policy. The local assemblies will then summarise the general views of their area and a random citizen of that local area will be called to represent the area regarding their views on that policy in the national assembly. Assemblies are structured by the judge, who is in charge of maintaining order and allowing all people to speak. Judges are employed by the people and are not allowed to express their viewpoints.
2. Nation will have no political parties
The formation of political parties is prohibited in the law and the nation of Badara advocates for individual opinions rather than tribalist party politics. There is no head of state or government, only elected personnel in charge of a specific area or field who carry's out the wishes of the population and not his own. Elected personnel are prohibited from expressing their viewpoints and are merely the tool of the people.
3. The role of the Military
The Military will be run on a merit-based system where the best generals and commanders receive promotion rather than based on political viewpoints. High-ranking Military personnel are restricted from expressing political opinions and must carry out the wishes of the people. The Army, Navy and Airforce will be split up into 6 different factions to ensure that the Military is not able to attempt coups. In the event of a conflict, the leaders of the 18 factions will need to elect a temporary Dictator who will have a term of 12 months and will be granted emergency powers to protect the nations' citizens from conflict. If the conflict ends then the Dictator must remove himself from power and restore normality.
4. The role of Religion
Religious leaders will be allowed to advise national and local assemblies and traditional social values of Ahmadism will be upheld in law. However, religion is not compulsory and there are equal rights for all, regardless of religious views.
5. Law and Policing
High-ranking police officers and judges are banned from expressing viewpoints, they are required to carry out the law as the people request. Capital punishment is restricted to serious sexual offences, murder and treason. Specialist armed-policemen are allowed, however the majority of policemen are prohibited from carrying firearms and are instead restricted to non-lethal weaponry.
6. Role of Corporations and Resource Management
All Natural resources are nationalised and the needs of the nation will be prioritised over exporting. Fuel (gas and oil) is to be free up until a certain limit, for owners of vehicles or homes (for heating/cooling). Surplus resources are to be sold to international markets, to be controlled by the Minister for resources. In addition, all vital public infrastructure will be owned by the state and be free for all citizens. Large Corporations are banned, only small-medium sized local businesses may function to prevent monopolised markets. These businesses are to be heavily regulated to ensure they aren't overcharging for their products.
7. Foreign Policy and diplomacy
All foreign policy will be decided upon by the people, and negotiations between other countries will be done by the 'Representative of the Badaran people' who will state the people's viewpoints and advise the National Assembly for next steps. The representative is elected by the people and can be removed at any given time should the people decide.

Celebrations in Marrakesh after announcement of new reformed constitution
Celebrations have begun across Marrakesh and Badara after the former leader Abu Bakr officially resigned from his post as President and announced the new constitution.
We spoke to some individuals and here's some notable messages:

The first action by the Assemblies was to declare 3 days of celebration, and hold a military parade with the new segregated 16 factions, united as one.

TWO MINISTERS TO BE ELECTED
National Assembly, February 21, 5636: The Monsoon has learned that a change seems to be in the works in the National Assembly and accordingly asked Assembly Delegate Bashir ibn Ortoq who seemed to be involved what was happening. He responded:
Quote:As you are aware, the Constitution issued by the former President puts rather severe limits on the functioning of any national government. Some regional and municipal governments are functioning right well, and some are not while the national government is pretty much moribund.
But not necessarily entirely dead. Political parties, a head of state and a head of government are banned, but not government ministries or regulation of corporate activities while police, courts and military are anticipated.
But to your question, a working majority group has been formed in the National Assembly to select a Minister of Justice and a Minister of the Interior responsible to the National Assembly.
The Ministry of Justice will take charge of national government prosecutors, codify national law for approval by the National Assembly, propose a process for constitutional amendment to the National Assembly and propose a selection process for the national judiciary to the National Assembly.
The Interior Minister will be authorized by the National assembly to take charge of the Central Security Organization (CSO), our national police, the Special Security Forces (SSF) and the Criminal Investigation Division (CID). Additionally, the People’s Security Bureau is to be renamed the Internal Security Unit (ISU) and assigned to the Minister of the Interior since we have no president.
As indicated, we do have a working majority to proceed. I will serve as Justice Minister while Yasser al-Mirza will serve as Interior Minister.
