Utaristan - Zanz - 25-08-2024 http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7316 RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 07-01-2025 Elections held amidst rising economic woes; Far-Left prevail in elections on a nationalistic platform. --------------------- December 19th, 5596 --------------------- In an increasingly turbulent time for the nation, elections are always an opportunity to fix what doesn't work and try what could work. The marketplace of ideas if you will. As the economy remains a major concern for many within the nation, many have come to offer solutions. And it seems that amidst a rather chaotic election cycle with several parties running, an unexpected victor has come about. But before that, let's review what exactly is going on for those out of the loop. The economy is the biggest issue. The economy of Utari Mosir is in shambles and many are yearning for fixes. Some have proposed free market reforms, other have advocated for planned economic reforms. This has led to many ideas on how to fix it, but currently no application of those ideals. As such, going from right to left, we find ourselves looking at the Union of Conservative Democrats, advocating drastic austerity and free market reforms to kickstart the economy. The UCD has proposed creating an economy that could be attractive to foreign investors and a strict budget to cut down any deficit. The ideals of laissez-faire economics have been proposed and endorsed by the UCD adamantly. Moving onto the next party that had appeal, the Progressive Change Coalition, advocating for a more natural resources approach, and approaching the WDU for economic assistance, essentially creating a market via what few natural resources the nation has and supplying the WDU with it. The liberal conservative party has advocated for free market reforms as well naturally. Moving to the centre, the Democratic Action Party has advocated for a full liberal minded approach to the economy, calling for gutting regulations, embracing the free market, and privatization of state assets. Essentially trying to combine both the approach of the UCD and PCC, the DAP has pushed for strong classical liberalism and create an economy that can adequately suit the needs of Utari Mosir. Onto the left, the Social Democrats have advocated for a more middle ground approach, advocating a mixed economy and taking the best from a planned economy and the free market, utilizing natural resources to create funds for the state and employment for the nation to provide basic relief and get the economy back up with jobs. The final major party is an extreme, the far-left Revolutionary Worker's and Peasants Party advocating for a staunch planned economic approach, mass industrialization, exploitation of natural resources and redistribution of wealth from "upper class" and foreign assets. Despite initial predictions favouring the PCC or the Social Democrats, it would seem the extreme RWPP has prevailed and been elected with a comfortable majority in the National legislature. As such, the coming years are expected to be quite chaotic as is the case with socialism and we'll see quite possibly the transition to a socialist state should the RWPP decide to commit to it. A worrying thought. But more eerily has been the silence of the military which is not too welcoming of extremism, let alone socialism. Maybe that's a good thing for the new president, Yukimura Anzai. All we can do is hope the people made a good choice, and didn't hand over Utari Mosir to the reds. RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 09-01-2025 RWPP begins economic nationalizations and wealth redistribution; Opposition cries foul! ------------------ December 15th, 5597 ------------------ The Revolutionary Worker's and Peasants Party has finally made moves towards "fixing" the economic situation wrecking Utari Mosir and it has arguably chosen the most extreme measure; nationalizations and wealth redistribution. All major banks have been nationalized, alongside major private industries and their wealth is being redistributed. While this is putting money into the hands of the people, it's questionable how effective this is as it will likely lead to a corporate exodus, and be a bandaid solution. Combined with the "mass industrialization" planned, environmentalists have some worry and it seems that the future is looking increasingly like it'll be planned. However, the opposition, being a broad coalition of the DAP, UCD and PCC have found themselves united in opposing the RWPP and the SDs, decrying the move as another nail in the economic coffin. As free market approaches are left in the dust, it is likely that more socialistic reforms will be applied by the RWPP, and Utari Mosir will look increasingly more red. However the effects of these nationalizations are likely to cost Utari Mosir even more as it can be seen as a bandaid solution instead of concrete improvements. As corporations express dismay, disapproval and have shown that they will leave the country, the RWPP is alienating any chance for the free market to help the economy in recovery. With the opposition angered, and public opinion being supportive but somewhat skeptical and just desperate for any fixes, the RWPP will have its work cut out for it. Perhaps these nationalizations are just the beginning of a properly red era. We can expect more reforms to occur within the year, and we can only hope that the economy is at least repaired. However more will be needed to repair the economy than just redistribution of wealth and nationalizations, jobs will be needed and sources of income. If the RWPP cannot provide those, then they may have worsened the situation for Utari Mosir and doomed any chance of economic recovery. On the other hand, if they can repair the economy then it is likely that their socialist agenda will have no opposition, and they can push Utari Mosir into a socialist or even communist direction. In any case, the outlook isn't good for Utari Mosir. RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 11-01-2025 Coup in Utari Mosir; National Legislature dissolved as the military seizes control of the civilian government. ------------------------ December 24th, 5598 ------------------------ Citizens in Cise today woke up to military vehicles and troops occupying the streets and seizing various government institutions. With a media blackout occuring hours afterwards. After a turbulent day, just this evening, the blackout would end and state media would announce that the military has seized control of the government, citing the radicalism of the left wing regime, the economic instability it caused, and the hostile nationalism advocated by it. As such, all members of the RWPP cabinet have been arrested, alongside former President Yukimura Anzai. Martial law is in full effect, and as such, all political parties are suspended indefinitely, all private media is suspended and the military has installed one of its own in the office of presidency. Arguing that the Revolutionary Worker's and Peasants Party has caused immense instability to Utari Mosir, via unchecked radicalism and economic instability, the National Salvation Council has looked to crack down on RWPP supporters. However the biggest thing that many have noticed was the "hostile nationalism". As it stands, the military is predominately occupied by Hulstrians, and as anticipated, Utari Nationalism is often viewed negatively in the military. It would come to little surprise that the RWPP was couped. But this hasn't stopped protests around the country calling for the return to civilian government. With the focus being in a return for democracy, a few demagogues and nationalists have highlighted the NSC's opposition to Utari Nationalism. However at the moment, the military has curbed most major protests but foreign experts anticipate more to occur over the coming months as socialists and nationalists seek to take advantage and push their agenda. However for the time being, the torch of democracy in Utari Mosir has been snuffed out. Whether it remains or the fires of socialism and nationalism take over is yet to be seen. RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 11-01-2025 Protests in Utari Mosir escalate as violence increases; Nationalists and Communists seek to organize power as National Salvation Council clamps down. ----------------------- January 19th, 5599 ----------------------- The December Coup (New Year Coup) has left Utari Mosir in paralysis as the military has been stretched thin on maintaining order across the country and especially in the nations capital, Cise. With the economy still shaken from the drastic changes by the RWPP, and the nations democracy shattered by the military, it would seem the final straw on the camels back has finally arrived, as many have looked to the coup as a means of the Hulstrian dominated military to once again put an end to the dreams of a truly free Utari Mosir. Yet surprisingly (or rather unsurprisingly), the two groups to benefit from this have been extremists. Particularly communists and nationalists. With communists looking to reign in what support they had from the election of the RWPP, they have begun efforts at organizing a proper movement to topple the current regime, whilst the Nationalists have looked to gain support by highlighting the robbery of a free Utari Mosir. Both equally extreme, but both are also equally gaining ground as the National Salvation Council continues to focus on maintaining order (albeit to questionable success) and curbing opposition. With protests turning to riots and riots turning to violence, the body count is only rising as the nation continues to spiral downwards. With local police units overwhelmed and military units being stretched thin across the country, foreign analysts are left wondering one question: how much longer can Utari Mosir take before it snaps? With communists blaming the higher echelons of society, and the nationalists blaming Hulstrians, violence is seemingly inevitable, both class and ethnic violence as the National Salvation Council has so far remained incredibly unpopular. Unless the NSC is able to beat down the protests and end the violence, it is unlikely that the NSC will have a smooth year, and neither will anyone in Utari Mosir. RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 12-01-2025 Revolution strikes Utari Mosir; Communists and Nationalists form a "United Front" as the nation descends into violence. ---------------------- June 3rd, 5599 ---------------------- The recent violence over the December Coup last year has finally reached a boiling point it seems, as Utari Mosir has effectively been tossed into civil war. After increasing violence and even guerilla fighting in the countryside, it seems the tipping point has occured as various cities and provinces have broken off from the Cise Government. The first to break off were the communists, having faced the brunt of crack downs due to their ties to the RWPP, they were the first to begin organizing and prepare for their "revolution" against the National Salvation Council. On May 28th, the "Utari Workers Republic" was declared in the city of Horokeu-Kotan to jubilant cheers, as a provisional government was quickly established with the Communist Party of Utari Mosir at the head of it. Immediately, the formation of worker militias came about, with the "Red Guard" quickly purging those deemed to be "reactionaries" and "counterrevolutionaries". Within hours, the head of state of the UWR was determined to be Chairman Ueto Taisuke, who has pledged to put down the "reactionary junta" and "free the Utari Workers". On June 1st however, the situation would escalate as nationalists would organize a revolt on the other side of the country. Having called for resistance against Hulstrian tyranny, and calling for the establishment of a Utari led state. To no one's surprise, the National Salvation Council and the military being comprised of Hulstrians and couping the civilian government illegally has seen nationalists in uproar, viewing this as foreign tyranny. As such, in the city of Matsurano, the National Republic of Utari Mosir would be proclaimed, with a temporal commission being established to govern until the civil war effectively ends. That commission being the "National Security Committee", led by Higa Shinji. However, the situation would take an interesting turn on the 2nd as both groups would merge into the "United Utari Front", briefly putting aside differences to focus entirely on bringing down the Cise Government and restoring Utari rule to the rest of the nation. As such, this has turned it into a 2 sided civil war between the Cise Government and the UUF, with both Higa Shinji and Ueto Taisuke having prominent roles in the United Front. While foreign analysts question how sustainable this United Front will be, and how long it'll last should they defeat the Cise Government, it is clear that Shinji and Taisuke are determined to secure a free Utari Mosir. Whether they can or not however, will be seen in the coming times. RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 13-01-2025 Beginning of the Emori Offensive; Guerilla tactics prove successful. ----------------------- December 6th, 5599 ----------------------- The Utari Civil War continues on with the first major offensive being the Emori Offensive, led by the UUF with the goal of securing the city of Emori and dislodging CG (Cise Government) forces from the region. Despite the CG having the advantage due to existing military training, it seems unorthodox tactics, such as Guerilla warfare has proven to be the arrow in the knee for the CG. Due to the unorthodox tactics, especially from the Red Guard, CG forces have had troubles holding down territory and have been largely forced to fight an unsustainable defense. As such, it is likely the Emori Offensive will succeed. Unless the CG government can adapt to fighting a guerilla war, it is unlikely it can hold down Emori for long. In any case, with the civil war ongoing, the UUF have organized themselves properly with the Party of the National Revolution forming to represent the nationalists within the UUF. With the civil war likely to last for a considerable time, the CG will have to adapt to fighting an unorthodox war or risk a full defeat. Unless they can adequately defend Emori, prospects aren't looking bright. RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 14-01-2025 Emori Offensive Successful; Amidst this, the creation of a War Economy. --------------------- June 18th, 5600 --------------------- The Emori Offensive has been successful for the UFF with the city falling to UFF forces earlier this month. Despite the offensive lasting a few months, and fierce CG resistance, it seems CG forces were able to be whittled down and forced to surrender the city. As such, the UFF has not only secured a military victory but also a propaganda victory against the CG. However, the UFF has begun efforts to "professionalize" themselves and organize themselves into a proper fighting force, by moving towards the creation of a war economy. As such, the commanding heights of the economy will be placed under state control, with strict rationing on civilian goods and a ban on strikes enacted. A priority will be given to military production, followed by urban goods and finally rural goods. The goal is for this war economy to be gradually phased out once the civil war is won, and also maximize all boosts to the military to ensure more victories against the CG can occur as it's clear being bogged down, especially when winter comes will only result in more death and destruction. While the war economy does have critiques, particularly from the communists within the UUF and rural advocates, it's received support from those who want to end the civil war as soon as possible. In any case, with Emori under the control of the UUF, it is likely that there will be another offensive eastwards to claw closer to Cise. Experts however doubt that the war will come to a close before winter and most likely will go into spring, if not next summer. However, the creation of a proper war economy is sure to provide more support for the UUF and give it benefits. Despite the draconian measures, it is better than simply doing nothing. But it will need to be phased out once the civil war is over. However, more battles are expected to come. The building of a war economy is simply the first step to sustaining the UUF, economically, long term. RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 15-01-2025 Partisan Activity in CG territory; Attempts made on high level figures. ---------------------- January 13th, 5601 ---------------------- As the Utari Civil War rages on, it seems that those within the CG territories have found themselves unable to tolerate the Cise Government and reports have emerged of partisan activity. With the UUF able to hold it's own and having an equal challenge against the CG, the reports of partisans trying to cause chaos behind the front lines has not boded well for the CG. There even have been reports of attempts being made on high level officials within the CG government and the existing military. As such, these efforts are likely to hamper the CG government s ability to fight, whether it be factory sabotage, partisan distractions or even assassination attempts on high level officials. Making an already difficult war more difficult for the CG, the odds are looking more in favour for the UUF, and while victory isn't yet in sight, every effort to cripple the CG goes along way in the road to victory. However as the UUF relies more and more on nationalism, there is an increasing risk of violence occuring towards civilians, both as reprimands for partisan activity against the Utari and nationalistic hatred on Hulstrians in UUF occupied territory. The Utari Civil War is certainly unlikely to be civil. RE: Utari Mosir - Elena1012 - 16-01-2025 Beginning of the Cise Offensive; Alongside this, creation of the "popular front" in the UUF. ----------------------- July 5th, 5601 ----------------------- It would seem that the UUF has a goal to end the civil war as soon as possible and has launched an offensive with the goal of capturing Cise and forcing a surrender of the CG. While it's questionable if this Gambit can succeed, it's clear that the civil war has been exhaustive to both sides. With the CG diverting everything they can to prevent Cise from falling, they are leaving other fronts open to defend a vital point. However, with partisan activity helping the UUF, it remains questionable if the CG can truly prevail. Despite this risky gamble, the UUF has begun to centralize itself and the "National Security Committee" has dissolved, seeing the creation of a "popular front" of various parties, such as the Communist Party of Utari Mosir, the Mosriak Democratic Party, the Party for the National Revolution and the Pan-Gaoic National People's Party. Despite the clear ideological differences between all, they have managed to stay together with the CG acting as a unifying enemy. As Higa Shinji remains the de facto leader of the UUF, the possibility of a Utari Mosir truly led by the Utari and undeniably free is on the horizon as the Cise Offensive occurs. Whether hardliner nationalists or the communists will tolerate whatever emerges from such an outcome is anyone's guess. Interestingly enough however, reports have come about if the Party for the National Revolution and the Pan-Gaoic National People's Party enjoying close cooperation. Despite the ideological differences, the Pan-Gaoic National People's Party has found themselves supportive of a Utari led state, and ushering in the "National Revolution" that the PNR espouses. In any case, the civil war may have a genuine chance at coming to an end soon, and it depends on if the Cise Offensive is successful or not. Then it's a question of whether or not the UUF can keep itself united or collapse into infighting and continuing the civil war, only this time spilling Utari blood amongst each other. |
