Yu Dynasty Yingdala (4338-4636)
Ryeo Seojun: "Fate has caught up to my family"

August 1, 4332
KAIZHOU, JIAOZHI

News of the death of Ryeo Choesun in Gongmangdo has seemed to come without much shock for Ryeo Seojun, son of the heir to the Dranian throne. Reports of the claimant-emperor's car accident began to circulate late last night and within a few hours the son had written a public post online unleashing a slew of admissions about his detachment from his family and their legacy. Ryeo Seojun expressed some regret at not making an attempt to stop his father from returning to Indrala and that he is most worried for his younger brother, Yejun, who had still remained close to Choesun. "Returning to Dankuk was a death wish, my father knew what he was doing and I know full well what message he was trying to send in this stunt. He's abandoned his more loyal son and his beloved prestigious sister, but for what? A plot to change my commitments. Typical."

The online post from Ryeo Seojun casually highlighted the manipulative role of the House of Ryeo in various major events in Dranian history. His statement also provided shocking confirmation of Ryeo involvement in the personal downfall of Aoi Sukarno, including his car accident that was reported in the media as the consequence of severe drunkenness and irresponsibility. The Kyo prince slammed his family's dark history and accused the entire lineage of failing to live up to the positive vision of the House's founder, Haejo.

Quote:I can't help but think that fate has caught up to my family. No one wants to talk about it and as much as everyone goes on historic revisionism in modern Dankuk it was also very present during my family's reign. Events of the past century enabled the Ryeo empire to be cast in a more positive light despite it having been just as much of an authoritarian state as the Hwangje have established. The early empire was rooted in ethnocentrism and mass deportation of non-Kyo to dysfunctional colonies with low quality of life. Neighboring states were symbolically stripped of recognition and deals were struck with old Indralan kings to attempt unprecedented expansion of Dankuk over Kazulia. The House of Aynako was absorbed through backhanded plots, an arranged marriage, and a staged car accident and smear campaign against Aoi Sukarno. Associates of my father call me by that name, Aoi Sukarno, likening me to Aoi's disinterest in his inherited obligations, preferring to enjoy his life free of the constraints of royalty. Aoi Sukarno was just one victim of the empire we Kyo seem to always praise. There were more plots and political structures set up to masquerade to the public as a democracy. The Great Kyo Empire is a sham. It was a sham under the Ryeo just as it is under the Hwangje. The ambitious and meaningful vision for the Kyo set forth by my ancestor Haejo, King of the Kyo, was quickly abandoned with ease by the power-mongers that followed him. It is a great shame and dishonor that such darkness has guided Dankuk for so long, even in its so-called progressive eras. This is why I feel no regret in placing my roots in Indrala in a life free from this tragedy. Perhaps fate will strike me to, just as it has my father, my grandfather, and others in my family's past who met untimely deaths.

Ryeo Seojun's post has unleashed a firestorm in Dranian media and internet forums in the nation has filled with hate messages targeted at the prince. The most tame criticisms demand such things as the expulsion of Seojun from the House of Ryeo, placing Yejun as the new head of the imperial household. Others have taken to totally rejecting the current Ryeo branch, all of whom reside in Indrala, and have called upon low-profile members of the family to come forward in the name of the Ryeo to fight back against not just the Hwangje but also the dishonor and betrayal brought by the "Indralan lovers" borne of Choesun.

Classical Jienists Win Party Debate, Force JDP to Take a More Capitalist Turn

At the annual meeting of the Economic and Business Committee of the Jien-Democratic Party, the Classical Jienist faction of the party managed to win over enough of the JDP's leadership to eliminate the party's "balanced approach" to economic matters and transition to a more traditional view of economics, one that was championed by the Jienists for nearly a thousand years, a position many view to have been a factor in Yingdala's high economic performance.

The Classicists hearkened to the ancient "Spice and Steel" debates held during the age of the Xin Han Empire. As history tells us, the debates centered on whether the state should monopolize critical industries in order to fund military expansionism, for it was the goal of the Xin Han (which means New Galaxy) to conquer every nation in Terra to establish dive rule, just as Heaven ruled the galaxies of the universe. Ultimately, against the wishes of the Jienists, the Xin Han government monopolized the spice and steel industries, along with increasing economic intervention, in order to devote more resources to military spending. Jienists says that these events helped lead the Xin Han to its early demise, as it deprived the people of income and well-being.

In the new debate, termed the "Tech and Knowledge" debate, the Classical Jienist faction of the JDP argued that the government was intervening too much in the economy and that competition was being stifled, preventing new technology and knowledge to emerge in Yingdala. They contended that the caizu be broken up and for the government to remove itself from the economy as much as possible, allowing more perfect competition and opportunities for the people to generate financial well-being for themselves. Not to mention, they pointed to the fact that nearly all the Yingdalan parties agreed on economic issues to the extent that little differentiation remained between them.

Party chairman Jiang Jun, Minister of Education and Culture, wholeheartedly accepted the Classical Jienist proposal after a membership vote. He stated, "We will propose a series of economic freedom bills that will help our nation recover its place on the world stage. In order to recover our prestige, we must recover our economy. To do this, the people need freedom. Right now, the government has essentially told people that they are not allowed to provide for themselves and that government companies must do this. However, we all know that the wu wei policies of the past were the driver of Yingdala's economic might. We will return to these policies, as they are our nation's natural tendency."

Tian Agriculture Solutions and The Bo-Wu Company Announce IPOs on Tian'an Stock Exchange

Two Han based companies, Tian Agriculture Solutions and The Bo-Wu Company, announced their intentions to file for an initial public offering (IPO), respectively, on the Tian'an Stock Exchange.

Tian Agriculture Solutions (TAS), a large privately owned agribusiness, grew out of a small farm owned by the Tian family near Tian'an. Over meany generations, the Tian family experimented with various agriculture techniques and genetics to improve their farm's efficiency, productivity, and yield. After sending one of their own, Tian Wan (who is now the current president and CEO), to Kaizhou University to study agricultural engineering and business, the small family farm grew into a large company with factories and laboratories throughout Han and Shu developing and producing various agrichemicals, seeds, and farm machinery.

TAS, contrary to the traditional agribusiness, is know for its "organic" model, whereby it generates its products based on how they would come about in nature. Tian Wan is believed to have pioneered and pushed for this model in order to respect nature, as well as capitalizing green and naturalist trends that are growing throughout Terra. Mr. Tian believes that, "With this IPO, TAS will be able to expand its supporters and advisors to go beyond Yingdala. Our goal is to break into the markets of the so-called third world, which hold much of the arable land in Terra, and go from there to become a real Terran powerhouse."

Another corporation, The Bo-Wu Company, an aerospace and defense business, will also be making an IPO soon. Originally the Bo and Wu companies, owned by the Bo and Wu clans (not related to the Imperial Clan of Wu), The Bo-Wu Company, known as Bo-Wu, is involved in all areas of the military industrial complex. After recently securing a deal with the Kingdom of Vanuku to work on joint projects, Bo-Wu felt ready to establish itself as a more prominent Yingdalan company. No doubt, Bo-Wu will play a role in Yingdala's future military rise.

Wu Guowen Makes Shock Announcement

Dr. Wu Guowen, claimed by the Jien-Democratic Party as the Crown Prince of Yingdala, shocked his supporters by publicly rebuking his supporters, as well as the supporters of the Sun Clan, in the wake of the successful monarchy restoration referendum. At a press conference in front of the Wu Family Mansion outside Tian'an, Dr. Wu read the following statement:

The Wu Clan, known in the past as the Imperial and Royal Clan of Wu, are in no way, shape, or form claimants to the Dragon Throne of Yingdala. As far as I am concerned, as patriarch of the clan, the Wus lost the Mandate of Heaven with my grandfather. The people are Heaven's eyes and ears. They stopped listening to us and looking at us a long time ago. It is time for a new Son of Heaven and one that actually holds Heaven's Mandate.

Now some believe that the Son of Heaven exists within the Sun Clan. I can tell you easily that this is not the case. Heaven would never choose a merchant to be the king. Have you all forgotten that Heaven made merchants at the lowest rung of society, as they do not produce, but benefit from the works of others? Yes, Yingdala has changed, but the Jienist principles remain the same. The Son of Heaven and the imperial clan are above all, then the scholars and officials, next the farmers, then the artisans, and finally the merchants. This hierarchy is instrumental for society to survive and thrive. All have their place and all are necessary and important for the other. However, Heaven would only choose his representative from among the first three, as they are the ones more likely to have benevolent qualities. Thus, the Sun Clan does not fit this qualification.

There is, truly, one clan that could unite us all and go beyond politics, as well as maintain strict adherence to Jienist principles. That clan is the Ji Clan, descendants of Ji Enzi himself. I, for one, rally myself and my clan behind the Ji Clan's patriarch and will press his claim. Only they fit the needs and wants of this new Yingdala. Thank you.

Phoenix Party Officially Backs Sun Clan for Monarchy

June 28, 4333
KAIZHOU, JIAOZHI

As the Jien-Democratic Party, joined by the Lotus Party, quickly moved forward on a sudden proposal to select the Ji Clan as heads of the new Indralan monarchy, the Phoenix Party broke with its partners in government to outright reject the Ji in favor of the Sun Clan. Speaking on behalf of his party, Minister of Internal Affairs expressed his wholehearted support for Sun Yijun as the Son of Heaven and his pro-Sun statement was soon joined by the Centre Party and Social Democratic Party. With this it has become clear that among the pro-monarchy parties the majority of support has fallen behind the Sun Clan.

The project is set to go through a number of phases and it's not expected that an expected date of full completion will be provided until the initial development in complete. The Zhijia City project is also still seeking more investors, domestic and foreign, as well as additional participation from other technology-oriented companies and organizations. Land surveys will begin later this summer and the Zhijia City Central Committee will formulate a foundational plan for the construction projects that will occur in the first stage of development.

Bo-Wu Submits Proposal to Ministry of Defense

After a successful IPO, The Bo-Wu Company has submitted its first major proposal as a publicly owned corporation to the Ministry of Defense. The proposal, believed to be inspired by Vanukuan designs and engineering, calls for Yingdala to research and develop a new tank, code name Crouching Tiger-001, or CT-001. CT-001's design is said to improve upon current armor used in most Yingdalan military vehicles, as well as a new weapon system set to deliver higher payloads and increased accuracy. Speed is also said to be a top feature, with chief engineer of the project Cao Yiwei exclaiming that, "a faster, more powerful tank is essential to restore Yingdala's standing in Terra. With a more modern 'cavalry,' we will be able to speed to victory in any fight."

Should Bo-Wu succeed in its endeavors, the company is expected to make a variety of proposals to improve the state of Yingdala's military technology.

Villages in Han and Shu Send Elders to the Ji Family Mansion, Demand Ji Yu Take the Dragon Throne

Contrasting with the "Miracle of Anle" talked about throughout North Yingdala, villages in the South, the heartland of traditional Yingdala and Classical Jienism, have begun to form pressure groups in the battle for Heaven's Mandate. Some of these groups, primarily from Shu and Han, recently sent a group of elders to the Ji Family Mansion in Tian'an to demand Ji Yu, patriarch of the Ji Clan, to take up the Dragon Throne.

The leader of the group of elders, a man of 87 named Fan Bo, was on his knees in front of the of the mansion kow towing and crying, "We cannot let the Sun Family reign over us! We cannot let businessmen create tyranny! My lord, please accept Heaven's will. We beg you!" The crowd shouted, "We beg you!"

So far, the Ji Clan has been silent on the matter.

4335 Election
11 May, 4335

TIAN'AN, Han -- The results of this years election have just come in, and much like Indrala's previous election, trends seem to show somewhat of a push against the old establishment. The National Conference has seen a decrease in every single party, except for the Jien-Democrats, and surprisingly the Warlords. This new party seeks to break apart the nation, which could be particularly dangerous in these times of looming international unrest. Despite the Warlord Party's 53 seat gain, the currently governing Jienist-Phoenix-Social Democrat-Lotus coalition remains in power with a 214 seat lead in the National Conference, and a Jienist Grand Chancellor, Zhan Zhi, in office. Along with this, the pro-monarchist parties (Jien-Democratic, Centre, Phoenix, Social Democratic, Lotus, Warlord) kept their legislative supermajority, meaning that if they can agree on a candidate for the throne, a constitutional amendment can easily be passed.

News for 20 June 4334

The Market is a nationally-published daily economic newspaper centered in Tian'an. While the paper remains generally non-partisan, critics have observed a tendency for the paper to publish articles which generally support classically liberal economic policies and the established economic order of Indrala.

TSEC Drops 200 Points Following Anti-Trust Legislation, KM Financial Raid

TIAN'AN, Han - Following the passage of JDP-803, the Tian'an Stock Exchange Composite (TSEC) suffered a significant fall of 200 points. This has been attributed to investor confidence being shaken with regard to how this may affect Indrala's caizu conglomerates. Many northern Indralan firms such as TQ Group saw their share prices dip slightly, as the tech-savvy north may be forced to loosen its hold over Indrala's consumer electronics market. However, these price fluctuations were not large enough to generate mass concern, with TQ Group trading at 2,561.89 INS compared to its previous position of ~2,711.18 INS a week earlier.

The dip in the TSEC was largely attributed to the SPS's raid of Indrala's largest financial services conglomerate, KM Financial. Prosecutors have raided the headquarters of KM Financial, in search for clues of financial irregularities. This comes at the end of an lengthy internal audit which the NTS and Ministry of Finance said was "lacking."

Industry insiders suggest that the investigation could disturb the group's scheme for a father-to-son transfer of management control and wealth, as is common in other caizu conglomerates, as some senior executives including Chairman Kong could possibly face criminal charges. Prosecutors reportedly believe that KM Financial executives used some of its affiliates, to arrange a series of malpractices to increase the Kong family's share of corporate wealth.

Chairman Kong Gueying still commands the confidence of the board of directors, narrowly winning a vote of confidence last December. However, with potential criminal charges in the future, some directors are reportedly in talks to gain support for the dismissal of Kong. With the Kong family in control of 29.1% of KM Financial, and the Ma family in control of 28.3%, major shareholders and directors will have so choose between the sons of one of the two families to appoint a successor.

SUN CLAN SIGNALS INTENT TO CLAIM DRAGON THRONE
28 June, 4335

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi -- The Sun Clan has lit a smoke signal from their residence outside of Kaizhou, announcing their intention to travel to the Altar of Heaven in Tian'an and to make sacrifices and ask for the blessing of Heaven moving forward. Tens of thousands of Indralans have travelled from throughout the nation for the past few months to gather in Kaizhou, petitioning the Sun Clan to take the throne. This latest development has been met with massive celebrations throughout the city, and comes after JDP-801, an act to enthrone Ji Yu as Emperor failed in the National Conference, as politicians rallied around Sun Yijun and the Sun Clan.

The Kaizhou Inquirer - December 4335
The Kaizhou Inquirer is northern Indrala's leading periodical, reporting on politics, culture and economics

Clan Cheng Remerges, Endorses the Sun Clan as the New Monarch
The Cheng Clan has returned from a rather long break from the public stage, nationally, their first national public statement? To Endorse the Suns.

An image of 5 family members of the Cheng Clan, from left to right: Liu Wuying, Cheng Tai, Yang Guanyu, Cheng Xinyi, Cheng Long.

KAIZHOU, Jiaozhi — A fairly publicly removed noble family, many who aren't from Northern Indrala may have no idea on who or what Clan Cheng actually is in the scope of Indrala's complicated noble families and lineages. The family is rather minor on the noble scale, though they have history dating back to the Beiyidom of Fehua. During this time period Clang Cheng was based around the city Kaizhou, acting as the local administration for the city and its immediate surrounding areas, while reporting to Beiyidom of Fehua's Sun Clan. However, after the communist revolution the family went into hiding, passing into obscurity for quite a while, only somewhat reappearing after Indrala settled down. The clan itself became extremely wealthy during their days controlling Kaizhou, in which tax money flowed into the family coffers, due to this the Chengs were able to remain in their home of Mei Cheng Palace, located on the outskirts of the city, barely ever needing to work.

Despite this, the Cheng Clan has been able to garner fame throughout their home city, as they have, and continue to make many philanthropic donations throughout Kaizhou, as well as some other areas of the North. It has also been noted by many around Kaizhou that the Chengs will often come out into the city and help with the areas development, especially when it comes to education. In fact, the Chengs are also known in Kaizhou for their dedication to scholarly work, and subsequently the urban tales of massive libraries running throughout the main residence of the Cheng family.

Mei Cheng Palace, the Cheng Clan's main and largest residence.

On a more recent note, the family has after centuries of silence on the national stage come out to speak publically to all of Indrala, not just the population of Jiaozhi and Northern Anle. Cheng Tai came out of the Mei Cheng Palace doors to give a statement to the gathered media:

Quote:It is the firm belief of Clan Cheng that if the Indralan throne is ever to be reestablished, the Suns have a rightful claim to it. They have shown a determination to help all of Indrala shine, and would be a great example for the people of our nation to follow. Furthermore, the fact that after my family's time spent in Northern Anle ended in failure, while Sun Luhan's trip granted the region rain, it is clear to us that Heaven shines brightly upon them. Therefore, Clan Cheng, beginning today, will officially support the Suns in their quest for the throne.

It must however be noted that two families share long history working together during the Beiyi period, and the fact that the two families both reside in Kaizhou could lead to the Chengs somehow gaining a benefit from a Sun monarchy. Perhaps in a more prominent role for themselves, or maybe just funds for the city that they love so much.

Gang Wu Elected to Phoenix Leadership

December 1, 4335
TIAN'AN, HAN

The leading voice of Phoenix Party monarchism has been elected to his party's leadership, a clear endorsement for the Sun Clan in a new Indralan monarchy. Having broke with coalition partners to voice opposition to the placing Ji Yu on the throne, Minister of Internal Affairs Gang Wu has been a major supporter of Sun Clan and is largely responsible for his party's shift from neutral monarchism to that which has favored the Suns. With news this summer of the Sun Clan's official interest in placing claims to the throne the Phoenix Party has rallied around Gang Wu. Despite objections from Lan Liao, Secretary-General Fang Wei approved a member initiative to elect a new party leader. Gang Wu narrowly won with just a one percent lead over Lan Liao. As the new party leader Gang Wu has announced his intention to throw full support behind the Sun Clan and all initiatives to make the Sun Dynasty become a reality.

Embattled former-Grand Chancellor Yi Junkai fights to retain control of the Lotus Party
The orphaned surgeon and one-term Grand Chancellor may soon be without a home, politically, as voices in his party openly call for his resignation
22 June 4335

TIAN'AN, Han: Dr. Yi Junkai promised Indralans the Lotus Party would continue to fight for them in the National Conference, even after his party suffered a crushing blow on election night, with major losses in Han, Min and Shu.

Dr. Yi thanked voters for re-electing a number of his colleagues, but did not say explicitly whether he planned to stay on as leader of the Lotus Party. After his election night concession speech however, a LP spokesperson told the Taixi Times that Yi will not be resigning as leader.

"With this election, Indralans have asked us all to work for them," said Yi. "We will not let them down."

Following the departure of the eminently popular Lotus Party leader and three-term Grand Chancellor Kwan Zhiyong, Yi Junkai barely achieved victory in 4330, despite his party being reduced by 133 seats. In this election, with no first ballot endorsements, Dr. Yi placed 6th, and his party got reduced further to its worst showing since the Pua Dictatorship.

Dr. Yi thanked the people of Jiaozhi for "forgiving" the Lotus Party, as they placed third in their traditional home province, much better than their 5th place turnout in 4330.

Following the election, Dr. Yi has kept a low-profile. A move to depose Leader Yi Junkai by factions of the party is escalating ahead of a leadership vote at a party convention next year; after every election, the Lotus Party Constitution requires party members to hold a "Leadership Review" in which party members must vote as to whether or not they want to hold a leadership election for the party.

Lotus Party members have never practiced regicide, always returning their Leaders with massive margins, however some analysts have proposed that Dr. Yi may be the first Leader to lose his review as rifts in the party have been exposed to the public in recent days. Minister of Health and Social Services Zhou Huiyi has openly suggested that Yi should step down.

"Is there a tremendous amount of angst out there about the result of the election and how the election was run? No question about it, there is," Zhou said at a charity event in Tian'an. "I think it's only natural for people to look to our leadership to understand these decisions and whether or not our party has the leadership necessary to lead our party forward. I'm not sure we do with Dr. Yi."

Dr. Yi currently maintains a 52.2% approval rating with Lotus Party members at-large. This is compared to Kwan who left office with 83.6% and Huang who left with 91.1%. Noticing this, Yi has been fighting to gain political support for his continued leadership of the party.

Today, Dr. Yi visited the Longmen orphanage in which he grew up, taking the time to play with the children. Dr. Yi also brought thousands of shapirs worth of toys. Speaking to Indrala Television (ITV) crews on scene, Dr. Yi said that "the Lotus Party is going to fight in the National Conference to bring support to our poor and low-income children, as [they] always have."

Dr. Yi would not answer questions with regard to his leadership, only saying that he "is excited for the opportunity" to be judged by his party members. Nonetheless, Dr. Yi has planned a number of rallies across the nation as he continues to reassemble the political coalition that elected him leader in the first place.
