News has reached the Kalistani foreign Ministry about a Kalistani national, and sea-food lover Alexander Smith-Jones, who has been arrested in the distant land of Tropico for creating a disturbance at a Tropican restaurant.

"According to Tropican News Sources, Smith was smoking something called "Bath Salts', and apparently became possessed by an evil spirit.  On last report, he was to be subjected to exorcism, which we assume is the Tropican equivalent to rehab.  We encourage Smith to get the help that he needs to break the habit of dependency on such a horrible drug, and will offer the Tropican government our full support in dealing with this fellow."

ODEN issued the following comment:  "The Organization of Drug Exporting Nations, headquartered in Kaliburg, does not sanction the use of bath salts for recreational purposes.  These bath salts, which are smoked, frequently cause bizarre and occasionally dangerous behavior when injested through smoking or eating.  Bath salts are not drugs:  they are salt that you put into your bath.  Any use beyond their nintended purpose is considered drug abuse as a policy of ODEN.  As a non-drug substance that people may use contra to all indications which suggest using them only for their intended purpose, we advise all drug users to avoid bath salts, and stick to genuine ODEN product, which may be easily and legally obtained and used anywhere within the Republic."

The Foreign Ministry is currently looking into ways to bring Smith-Jones back to Kalistan, but when the government turns over within the next few months, the process may likely be delayed.

Luis Williamson Passes Away

Luis Williamson, Director and co-founder of the Second National Conservative Party of Kalistan, has passed away on February 20th at the age of 84, following spending a little over a week in a hospital in Kaliburg after suffering a severe heart attack during a meeting at the National Conservative Party's headquarters near the Capital Building. Williamson had been suffering from heart issues for the past few years now, stress is thought to have been the main cause.

In March of 4448, Luis Williamson co-founded the Second National Conservative Party of Kalistan along with weapons manufacturer James Colbert and political commentator Derek Renov after almost fifty years since the dissolution of the First National Conservative Party in September of 4392. Before 4448, Williamson had become famous among right wingers for his anti-socialist and anti-abortion activism and had been the preeminent voice of the conservative community. Williamson would then serve as the Director of the NCP for fifty-five years, for its entirety he had worked with the left, a decision which has won him both much support and much criticism, and, unfortunately, hadn't lived to see his dream of a freer Kalistani market. After years of dedication to his party and fellow Kalistanis, right up until the end, he will surely be missed.

The NCP is yet to elect a replacement for Williamson, so Chairman Jakab Wyman will assume the responsibilities of the Director until a new one can be chosen. Currently there are four major contenders for the position:
Jakab Wyman - Current party chairman and moderate conservative.
Bryce Keen - NCP presidential candidate and moderate conservative. He is projected to win the election.
Marci Agua - Longtime party member and centrist.
Odin Franklyn - New but influential member of the party. He is a far-right radical who leads a small faction within the NCP.

The elections are currently scheduled for the sixteenth of August.

There is immense possibility of a United Seleyan economic organization. We are hoping that this diplomatic tour may create the correct environment for a unified Seleyan continent under one banner, however for know we are simply looking towards a free trade organization.

When asked why they left our Alduria from the procession, they stated the following:

The Aldurians have shown they don’t respect the human right of deciding whether they want vaccinated or not and have explicitly called Keymon “stupid”. We will not work with petulant leaders who act like children.

The diplomatic procession will include the President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Economics, the Minister of Trade, and several business executives.

Deal between SP Speaker Georgia Van Wyck, President of the Republic and conservative Parties paves way for Coalition Government

The Socialist Party has entered into the Government of Premier David Colbert, marking a significant shift toward the middle for the Ancient Party of the Republic.  The Socialists will sit for the remainder of the term with their old coalition partners the NCP, who SP Speaker Georgia Van Wyck lobbied to be named Premier, and the liberal Parties LDP and New Way.  Van Wyck issued the following statement on the decision to join the Government.

"We have received assurances that we will adopt a more pragmatic approach to privatization of the Nations' industries coming forward.  This, I think means, that the SP will at least be a part of the discussion.  From our seat, it is our hope that we can at least ensure that Kalistan's vital strategic interests are not squandered to the ideological commitment of liberalism.  It is our sincere hope that all Parties involved see this proposal as a victory, maybe not of all they wanted, but at least most of what they wanted, and this term, we pledge to not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.  We also finally have left wing influence in the Food and Ag Ministry, as well as the Finance Ministry and the Environment and Tourism Ministry.  We hope to use that influence to help Kalistanis as much as we are able, as well as ensure that as many of Kalistan's interests are protected as possible."

Van Wyck said Finance Minister Katherine Daniels will be sponsoring a tax bill that will lower taxes for millions of Kalistani citizens in the top marginal tax brackets, to attempt to bring Kalistan's revenues more in line with its needs under the new privatization regime.  "It is a matter of fact now that the government intends to kill off our national industries.  If they succeed in doing so completely, we will be collecting far too much money for the needs of our society.  Which means that the Government will be sending much of it back to the people, with the aim of protecting the surplus, but also not killing the economy in the process."  A spending bill which makes serious cuts in several sectors will follow, once the new Tax scheme passes, to bring spending in line with new Government policy. 

"Given much of the initial investment in these areas has been paid for many times over, it is not unreasonable to cut spending here without diminishing services," said Finance Minister Daniels. "We will be proposing a modest increase in some areas:  for example, our military is in desperate need of modernization, and costs of maintaining and expanding the infrastructure have only just recently begun to outpace funding.  Creative book keeping has allowed us to continue funding these priorities, but we need to make some adjustments."

The Incoming Food and Agriculture Minister wishes to offset privatization of agriculture with a new programs to maintain the supply of the Food Bank indefinitely.  "We envision replacing the food bank with local-run farmers markets and vouchers for people who can buy as they please," said incoming Minister for Food and Agriculture, Gorge Smith.  "This new market experience, which is entirely foreign and untried, might end up yielding a higher degree of choice for consumers, a decent living for farmers, and greater efficiency in supply.  The goal is to avoid placing any additional burdens on the consumers. It will be a juggling act to pull off, but I am confident that we can do it."

All in all the SP's leader has high hopes for the incoming Government.  "We have enough friends, I think that we can cobble together majorities for these proposals.  We'll see."

Bryce Keen, Director of the National Conservative Party, has today announced the party's plan to reform the Provisional Conservative Army of Kalistan, the military wing of the First National Conservative Party which was disbanded after the party's victory in the December 4304 Presidential election (http://classic.particracy.net/viewnews.p...sid=590876) due to the Kalistan's laws against paramilitaries. NCP spokesman for Defense and Brigadier General Phoenix Jameson has been put in charge of the PCAK's reformation, and has agreed to an interview with Right View reporter, Henry Gallway.

Gallway: Good morning, Mr. Jameson.

Jameson: Good morning.

Gallway: So first, why has the NCP decided to reform its centuries old army? Your party doesn't feel threatened, does it?

Jameson: No no, I wouldn't say we feel threatened. Just this recent bill proposed by the New Way which would outlaw party militias and disband heroic groups like the RSMoK had gotten me to start to think.You see, our party was founded as a militia, the PCAK, not a party. Its original purpose was to protect Conservative Kalistanis during their protests against the National Unity Party and Kalistan Labour Party. Now it wasn't the government the PCAK was afraid of, even though we've seen what the NUP and its despotic regime were capable of, no, the PCAK was formed to protect Conservatives from violent radicals. That's not why we're reforming it, even though I must say we're wary of the Patriotic League and their intentions. We're reforming because we see it as our patriotic duty to Kalistan. Paramilitaries have served a vital role in protecting and assisting Kalistan, just take a look at the history of the Revolutionary Socialist Militia, and currently the only active paramilitary is RSMoK, which leaves the right-wing section of Kalistani manpower untapped. So, I guess the short answer is, PCAK is being reformed to improve, assist, and defend Kalistan.

Gallway: After the PCAK is fully trained and armed, will you be the one at the head of the militia?

Jameson: Most likely, no. Since I'm currently a Brigadier General in the national army, it is more fitting that I remain candidate for the Minister of Defense. I believe Director Keen has decided on Iulian Árpád, but he may choose Douglas Montgomery. They're both veterans of the national army and would make fine leaders.

Gallway: How many people do you plan on recruiting?

Jameson: 1,000 men in each mainland district and 1,500 in Ananto, but we may expand in the future.

Gallway: Where do you plan to purchase your weapons?

Jameson: Small arms and their ammunition will be purchased from Guns 'R Us, while everything else we'll buy from KALMILINCO's surplus.

Gallway: When do you expect to get the militia fully trained and armed?

Jameson: Hopefully by 4513, but no later than 4515.

Gallway: And my final, and rather unimportant, question: Do you plan to keep the name Provisional Conservative Army of Kalistan?

Jameson: Well, it's not really provisional anymore, so yeah I guess we will.

First recruits of the reforming RSMoK take to forests of Neveras for recruit training

The Party's Militia, the Revolutionary Socialist Militia of Kalistan, will reform beginning in May of this year.  The SP has reopened its armories across the Republic, and has requested that Militia Veterans who were in service when the Militia was officially disbanded in 4481 back into service for the purpose of training a new Socialist Party Paramilitary organization.

Militia Commandante Col. Dionne Hayes, who was a platoon commander in 4481 and is now in her late 60s was thrilled to don her uniform again.  Flanked by her grandchildren, Col Hayes said "We have been waiting for this chance to serve the Republic once more.  Obviously, my frontline days are behind me, but I think the promotion of us old veterans will allow us to correct a lot of the issues we saw in the old militia.  We will be leaner, and we will be meaner.  Our men and women will live on less and will rely on the land more often.  We will focus on maneuverability and bringing heavy arms to bear against the enemy in full support of our nation's professional land, air and sea forces."

The militia have already began enlisting new Partisans.  As the NSP is kneecapped by the privatization agenda of the Conservative regime, and no plans have been made whatsoever to deal with shuttered National industries, millions of Kalistani youth have found themselves without a program to soak up the excess labor.  The SP has begun stepping up and offering these youth some employment with the Militia.  Most candidates for the militia have come from the cities through the Republic, with the largest number of recruits coming from Neveras, which the SP has held in the last several elections and now serves as the last real bastion of the SP in the Republic  "We have recruited more than 5000 partisans to date," said Commandante Hayes.  "The will begin recruit training after the coming election, and then will form the backbone of the new Kalistani Militia."

The new Commandante expects the RSMoK to be fully staffed, according to the RSMoK's Order of March, by 4514.  The Militia will include irregular infantry who will serve as commandos and shock troops, artillery units to offer fire support for the Standing Force, and naval forces with re-outfitted LAFA packs to support the operations of the Standing Navy.  The RSMoK joins the reformed Provisional Conservative Army of Kalistan in complimenting the Standing Armed Forces of Kalistan, and hopes to make arrangements for joint training as soon as both Militias are standing up.

İnterviewer:The issue of privatisation has always come up as controversial in the Parliament and now with the main opposition of those processes in government,will the path of the economy differ from the past LDP/NCP governments ?
President:We are always supporters of the free and fair market, That wont change ! Ofcourse we will try to seek a path that will include the Socialists and the UKWF in hopes that we dont pass legislations with brute force but through negotiations.

Draymond Green, new Director of ODEN organizes a new GanJam with a hip hop focus

New ODEN-Kalistan Director Draymond Green has announced that ODEN will sponsor a new GanJam in Neveras during the summer of 4511.  Green was onhand for a short interview with Kalistani Republic reporter Susan Lawford last week.

S(usan) L(awford):  Director Green, thank you for being interviewed.

D(raymond) G(reen):  No probably, baby. 

SL:  We are here to talk about GanJam.  You have called for the organization of a new Jam.  Why now?

DG:  Its been too long.  Know what I'm saying?  The last jam was 32 years ago.  People want their music back.  The Jam has always been a big draw and now we have a whole generation of Kalistanis who have never been to the Jam.  I never been to a Jam.  So, its about time we go.  See where I'm coming from?

SL:  You've said you want to focus on hiphop.  This is a departure from a more traditional lineup at the jam, which has featured mainly rock and reggae lineups. 

DG:  True.  True.  But see, the kids these days are booming hip hop.  I LOVE it, and as Director, part of my job is to organize it.  So we're gonna do something different.  We'll still have the guitars, but I envision something more like rock bands backing up MCs.  Wouldn't that be something, mane.  Live hip hop always has a full band.  Why not put them on together?

SL:  Will you keep features of the traditional Jam, like L Night?

DG:  Well, I'm not sure there's a lot of kids who drop L much at all.  ODEN sales of that chemical have been down in the last few decades, while the Conservatives have been running things.  I guess people need to keep their head clear to keep it from getting chopped off.  (laughs)  I jessst...  But not really  That's more for the older people.  So the L Night and the Legacy Showcase might get rolled into one, since the fryers and the people who like old music are pretty much the same group of people.

SL:  Who would you like to see headlining the Jam?

DG:  I'm already in talks with the Vrassan group North 40 to headline at least one of the nights.  Closers?  I think The State would be an awesome closer.  She's bad ass:  one of the best Kalistani MC's in the game today.  I saw The State in Sulari last year when she was touring down there.  I got to go back stage:  Being ODEN director has its perks I suppose.  She had some pretty good herb.  She may be a bit too political for our current political environment, but then again, maybe that's just what our country needs.

SL:  Will other features of the GanJam be present?  The foreign music venue, the art installations, etc?

DG:  Absolutely.  It really wouldn't be a cultural festival without the art.  We are already receiving applications from several artists who would like to put in installations, though a lot of the stuff I have personally seen is a lot less, should I say, weird, than the stuff I've heard about from previous jams.

SL:  We've heard rumors of the festival going to 18+, to keep out kids.  Is there any truth to that?

DG:  Not on my watch.  Teenagers are some of the best consumers of music, and let's face it, they are the trendsetters in Kalistani culture.  And the ODEN tent is adults only anyway, so if their parents don't want them using drugs, all they have to do is keep them at home.  But ODEN ain't gonna bar them from the show.

SL:  When will tickets go on sale?

DG:  Well, we got our venue all lined up.  The High Bong Forum, site of the first proto-GanJam back in 3922, and site of many a Jam since will host the festival this year.  We'll put tickets on sale for the first two nights, as usual, in February, once we get the dates nailed down.  As you know, weather up there can be kinda tricky, but we're shooting for early September, so we'll have a good long while to sell out.  And the Third night, as usual, will be free.

SL:  Something to look forward to. 

DG:  You know it.

The 4512 GanJam, held in at the High Bong Forum, in High Bong Neveras was a record setter.  More than 1 million festival goers attended the three night festival.  ODEN Kalistan reported that more than 450,000 tickets for the first two nights.  The all Hip Hop program of this years jam drew youth from across the Republic, and the show's proximity to Lodamun and Baltusia also drew festival goers from across the borders.  All in all, the festival was a fantastic success.

Director Green organized the Festival into three nights.  "A Three Night Festival is not unheard of.  Historically, the Jam has been either three or four days.  The Three day format is tighter, and we can focus on a theme.  This year we picked Hip Hop, and man, we smashed records!  Metaphorically speaking, I mean.  Nobody up there breakin records and sh-t...  Scratchin em maybe..."

The all Hip Hop Jam focused primarily on conscience Hip Hop acts, which have more overt political and social messages. "We didn't go in for all that club stuff and we didn't invite any of that D rap nonsense.  You can't understand that stuff...  They're on the wrong drugs.  No we stuck with the stuff that has a more political message.  The fans really responded well to it.  We had some pro-conservative acts who still rocked Kali pride, but of course, as you can imagine, most of the music came at you from the Left.  That's fine.  The goal was not to alienate anyone, but to spread the message that power itself is the problem, and it hurts all of us."


Suldanor's Rap Metal Hybrid Bloodbath, closed Night One

The first night tended to have more hard core hip hop acts featured.  The Night was closed by a blistering performance from Suldanor's Hybrid metal/hip hop act called Bloodbath, who garnered some infamy recently for their anti-police punk anthem "Killin the Cops".  Bloodbath's bassist, Hermano Diablo described the band's sound as follows:  "If we can play faster, we do.  If we can make our music sound crunchier, we do.  ICE [the band's lead singer] has a hard time keeping up with us sometimes, but you know, his lyrics are the sharp edge to our stilletto musicality.  We don't let up, because the fans wouldn't want anything less than us to leave it all out there."  When asked about the band's influences, Diablo said "We like that [thrash metal] band Senseless Violence.  You know there's a lot of fans of Hip Hop who also like metal...  it ain't so weird.  And we like the artists that are going to play later in the Jam.  The Score:  they are the best in the game today."

The Second Day was dominated by anticipation for the Night's closer.  Acts like Killa Dave and MC Schlomo P just whet the appetites of the hundreds of thousands of concert goers.  Each of the big name acts would have been able to headline their own tour, but putting them one after another on a single stage made for a very exciting day.  Odufaray attendee Britta Rodriguez said, "We'll I have all these guys' albums.  All on my phone, ha ha.  I spent the entire bus ride up here on speed fast forward, listening to as much of this stuff as I can, so I can compare it to the live show.  I don't usually go to concerts, so as you can imagine, this one is, well, its maybe even too big..."

The Second Night was closed by the act Director Green said he wanted for the Show Closer slot.  Female hip hop virtuoso The State came on stage at about 8:30 and was on the mic for two and a half hours straight.  Most of her intricate rhymes were about revolution and street violence.  "Nobody puts it down like the State," said a fellow who claimed his name was Pookie.  "I mean.  Dope!  That's all I gotsta say bout that!" 

The State made it a point to include the audience in a number of occasions, demanding that they finish her lyrics.  "Oh yeah," said the take-no-prisoners MC after her set.  "That's an old stage trick.  Man, I've written so many lyrics, I don't even remember them all, so we say nish like 'You Sing.' when we forget one of the lines, and for the life of us can't remember it.  I guess I could use a teleprompter, but that's bullsh-t.  And the fans love you when you let them sing your songs.  For real.  Like they each think, 'I know I'm one of like half a million mother fu-kers out here singing this sh-t but like I just heard myself on the speaker!'  And I'm like "Oh, Word?!'  It's all love."  After the show, The State went out into the crowd and took selfies with fans the rest of the evening.


"Friezes of the Old Republic" displays art from prewar Kaliburg

The Final day was full of live music and activities around the festival.  Several performance art exhibitions which were running concurrent to the music festival had their culmination on the Final Day.  Most pieces dealt with traditional subjects like architecture (Best in Show award went to the exhibit by Kaliburg artist Darcy Howard, whose installation "Friezes of the Old Republic" displayed remnants of various friezes from the front of Government buildings destroyed when Indrala demolished Kaliburg during the Ananto War.  Some of the more strange pieces were in the performance art salons, including one exhibit which featured 20 year old artist Loretta Wallace-Castro sitting nude in a vat of purple Koolaid that was laced with a high, but still medically safe dosage of LSD.  Attendees were invited to "drink the Koolaid," and men who attempted to were yelled at by the artist, while women who did so were greeted with soft words.  "It is symbolic of our struggle against oppression," said Wallace-Castro following the exhibition.


Hard Rock act Monterey kicks off the Final Morning of the Jam

The final day of the Concert kicked off with the rare rock act, chart toppers Monterey.  "We had some space in the pre-dawn lineup," said Director Green, "And Monterey were in town for a stop over before heading out for a tour of Northern Seleya.  They asked, and the producers were like 'Sure, why not?'"  Monterey set a pre-dawn attendance record during their 67 minute set which finished up just as the sun was rising over the mountains.  "Wakey, wakey, Eggs and Bakey.  Thank you and Good Night," said Monterey Lead singer Josh Hamilton as the band left the stage to thunderous applause and a thick fog of marijuana smoke which had settled in half way through the set.

The Show was closed by Hip Hop legends The Score, who performed their eponymous Second Album in its entirety at the Jam.  Lady Boogie, widely considered one of the greatest of all female Kalistani MCs announced the set list this way:  "This is the first time we've ever done this.  But here's The Score.  Its also gonna be our last show as a band.  So spark em up and keep em lit.  It don't get no better than this."  The trio, backed up by the legendary hip-hop jazz band soKali, were on the top of their game.  Score member Fredo said after the show:  "Man, what a way to go out.  Yeah, we're going on permanent hiatus.  We may get together to do stuff here and there, but you know, music has changed in our 15 years of doing this, and we figured we'd go out sounding good than to have people come to pity concerts.  We've got more money that the SP right now, each, so one last show and we can say good bye with our heads held high."  According to Lady Boogie, the Score was allowed to close the show because The State, who was originally slotted to do so found out that the Score was calling it Quits and gave up her closing spot to honor the great group.

"That's class," said Director Green of The State's action.

Financially, the Jam finished deep in the black:  after all concert expenses were covered and bands paid, Director Green noted that ODEN netted more than 12.5 million Rubles.  "We tried to keep ticket prices down, but we sold the show out in like 20 minutes, and this year, all concessions were handed by ODEN licensed vendors, which is different than in years past when all the vendors were independent.  Plus, we sold a virtual mountain of weed.  I think the latest estimate was that ODEN went through more than a ton of the National Product." Ganja sales eclipsed sales of all other intoxicants at this GanJam.  "Its this strain, I think," said Green.  "Dah Delta continues to kick out the jams.  Their Gold bud this year is smoother than silk, and the high is so mellow that you can smoke yourself onto a different planet and not pass out."  Green said concession and marijuana sales went hand in hand.  "I think we have enough money now to seed three GanJams without making another cent.  But it might be a better idea to think about capital investment.  The board is talking about a permanent home for the Jam in Odufaray. We'll have to see.  As for now, I can just say:  this Jam was the best ever!"

The Smell of Elections in the Air

As Elections once again approach Kalistan,Political Parties have started their campaigns and published their promises to the electorate,the last 3 years have passed with minimal action and reform in the part of the Government Coalition which includes the LDP,SPoK and NCP. Pundits put reason to the Ideological differences between the sides as the reason for the inaction and there have already been voices among the voters and the insiders of the LDP that the former coalition should of LDP/NCP should be established to continue the steady path to reform. Although some argue that the coalition is not to blame but the politicians and ministers which have become rusted after more then a decade in power. Amidst all of this debate and speculation,We managed to get a few words from the President himself on the matter and on the Election cycle as a whole.

The Liberal Democratic Party always aims for the best,and the best is obviously a one-party government of the LDP,so our goal is the recieve 126/250 MP’s in Parliament,now obviously goals and realities are quite seperate issues unfortunately,and such a result is highly unlikely,especially in these times where the mandate did not function as we had hoped ad there is a blatant rise in Populistic rhetoric.I am as you know once again putting my candidacy for President but to be honest with you,and this is an exclusive im giving to the Voice of the Free which is not known,I was planning to end my political career after this mandate,because ive been in office for 15 Years now!,however the Party really lobbyed me *laughs* and they wanted me to go one more time so i guess this election is my last hoorah ! And if the voters see it fit my last mandate as President!. Now when it comes to the coalition issue,ı believe that coalitions are a part of a healthy democracy and i dont see them as damaging to progress,now ofcourse there must be an equal understanding and functionality between the parties but sometime you must reach across the aisle to get the government that you want and thats always a good thing,especially in the polarised world we live in today. Our promise for the next mandate is a simple one:TAX ! If we are blessed with the necessary amount of MP’s to push it through,We shall finally remove the 1% tax “back-breaker” from the 1<Bracket and also we will completely scrap or atleast drastically reduce the Corporation tax to provide incentive for new work-places and expansion of business which will obviously mean more jobs and more growth !
