Today a restoration plan has been published for the wetlands of Pirland after decades of environmental degradation it will amount to 20 billion Likatonian dollars the biggest restoration project in Seleyan history. President Sanders says that now is a time for healing and renewal. Pirland brings in thousands of tourists every year seeking to explore all that Likatonia has to offer, and is a place for thousands of species of wildlife to find their home. The first step will be to improve water quality and restore nature's balance. In other news the Likatonian finance minister Demi Jordan was asked about how recent crisis overseas is affecting the economy,

At the moment we have seen that the impact has been minimal, the Likatonian economy remains buoyant and strong despite continuing geopolitical uncertainties. Likatonian's know that they can trust the National Democratic Party to lead, our economy is on the up once again thanks to our policies, we are embarking on a journey of renewal.

For the restoration plan only time will tell how successful the project is but it certainly is ambitious. The Likatonian economy continues to prosper in difficult circumstances.

Critics have condemned the law as a dangerous regression to an era of division and discrimination, with both the centre-left National Democratic Party and the extra-parliamentary Liberal Party standing united in their opposition. The Restoring Communal Integrity Act has sparked outrage among human rights activists and citizens alike, many of them see it as a brutal violation of individual freedoms and equality in Likatonia.

The Consequences

SRP members stage counter protest in defense of Communal Integrity 

In Clovisport, members of The States Rights Party were seen marching towards the capital in order to stage a counter protest against what some are calling "the mongrelization of Likatonian society" this comes just hours after the passage of the controversial Restoring Communal Integrity Act by Congress and widespread condemnation by the center and center left. 

79,000 SRP members arrived from across the country vowing to stand by the rulings of Congress and to defend their republic's way of life from internal and external threats; 

one of counter protesters is the parent of three school aged children by name of Eric Granger, Granger is quoted as saying the following: "I arrived in Clovisport this morning via a flight from Chester with my daughters Stephanie, Patience, and Hope all of whom will entering high school next month, I came here not to spread or forment hatred but to support a policy which I know and understand to be in my family's best interests. President Morris is out fighting for this great nation of ours and I want the rest of the country to know not all Likatonians have the privilege of being hypocrites in their advocacy of diversification."

 Later on while grabbing some ribs and greens for our crew, we had the opportunity to speak to Hank a retired educator who voted for Morris in March of 5576, this is our transcript - 

Q: Hank, hows it going, Man? 

A: Pretty Good...dem ribs are something else ain't they? 

Q: Pride of Likatonia, they are. So uh, what made you come out to support the counter protest this afternoon? 

A: well...you see Likatonia is a very diverse and hospitable place in which to live, it ain't about race or color its about preserving the quality of our schools, something Liberals just don't understand. I taught home economics for eight years and chemistry for three years...saw the budget shrinking and our students suffering, some just got tired of it all and left the district. I don't want to see such bright and enterprising minds thrown to the wolves just to pay lipservice to equality.

Q: what do you think of the opposition?

A: most of them don't want any trouble, Hell, I bought a man and his girlfriend a beer earlier and they were as Liberal as they come, ain't no trouble at all.

Clearly, Eric and Hank believe in the righteousness of their cause but abhor the pettiness of friend and foe alike on both sides of the isle and are just exercising their rights under the law. 

SRP chairman and President of Likatonia, Rhett Morris released a statement five hours after the start of demonstrations: 

"The States Rights Party would like to extend its gratitude and appreciation to the 79,000 red blooded Likatonians who took part in counter protests against outside agitators, hellbent on disrupting the peace and sowing the seeds of chaos. I therefore implore members of the SRP to get organized and to prepare for hard times, ours is a road to victory."

In the recent Likatonian general election, the National Democratic Party (NDP) has emerged as the dominant force, securing an absolute majority in Parliament with 130 seats and winning the presidency with their candidate, Freya Elliott. Succeeding President Rhett Morris. This landslide victory comes amid widespread outrage over the discriminatory policies of the States Rights Party (SRP), whose segregationist agenda has divided the nation.

The Context Behind the Election
The snap election was triggered by the sudden dissolution of the centre-right Federal Republican Party (FRP), leaving a vacancy in Parliament and prompting a political agreement among the SRP, NDP, and the extra-parliamentary Liberal Party. The parties decided to resolve outstanding legislative matters before heading to the polls. However, the election became a referendum on the SRP’s controversial Restoring Communal Integrity Act, which introduced mandatory segregation, banned interracial relationships, and required racial registration.

The SRP’s agenda, headed by its leader and former President Rhett Morris, alienated a large amount of the population. The result was a resounding rejection of the party's policies at the ballot box.

The SRP, by contrast, suffered a catastrophic defeat. Its seat count plummeted from 111 to a mere 45, with Rhett Morris losing the presidency to Elliott.

The Liberal Party, contesting elections for the first time, made a strong debut with 38 seats. Positioned as a progressive alternative, the Liberals gained significant support from younger voters, academics and voters in urban areas.

What voters can expect
The NDP aims to establish a majority government independently, without the involvement of any other political party. Their initial action will be to repeal the Restoring Communal Integrity Act, which was enacted by the previous administration.

Lone Wolf Kills 25 in a fit of rage as NDP celebrates landslide victory

This evening in Clovisport, gunfire claimed the lives of 18 innocent bystanders and 6 emergency responders as a lone wolf opened fire on a large crowd using JD71 semi automatic rifle in what was a politically motivated mass shooting aimed at intimidating supporters of the National Democratic Party in the wake of a recent electoral victory at the polls. The suspect was arrested and is currently being processed by local authorities until a trial can be scheduled. 

The SRP feels the pain of those who have been slain in cold blood by the extremist today and therefore condemns this heinous act of malice. SRP is a community rooted firmly in the soil of this great country bounded by a overarching commitment to state sovereignty and honest government. Those of us who are still here must work to bridge the chasm created by outside agitators at our collective expense. SRP is the voice of Likatonia.

A nation in shock: President Elliott Calls for unity

President Elliott has addressed the nation tonight calling for calm following a shooting in Clovisport, she has thanked first responders and emergency service workers who raced to the scene of the crime the suspect was apprehended at the scene and taken in for questioning. She said that Likatonia will find those who are responsible for this and they will face justice.

My fellow Likatonians. I fully condemn this heinous attack on everything we hold dear, I have reached out to the victims families to offer them my support. At a time when tensions are running high I call on everyone to dial down the temperature of their politics. Mark my words anyone who was responsible for this whether internal or external agitators we will find you and you will face justice. Now is the time for congress to pass the strongest gun control legislation in Likatonian history to ensure that this will never happen again, we must do better. Likatonians will not be intimidated we are stepping up our patrols in Clovisport this afternoon. Earlier I convened the cabinet for an emergency meeting to brief them on the situation we will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds. My fellow Likatonians we will get through this and we will emerge stronger.

The president called for stronger gun control legislation to ensure this will not happen again, it is hoped that this bill will have bipartisan backing. Likatonian police are following all credible leads in relation to the incident.

It took Rhett Morris to unify a coalition of National Democrats and Liberals in defense of equal rights and social justice, a lone wolf came for the lifes of innocents now the federal government is coming for your guns. Our people's rights and traditions are under attack, but why? 

The answer is simple....the NatDems and Liberals don't care about the heritage of this country or the integrity of our communal institutions. Every good society requires the existence of healthy boundaries and high standards; they can't win if they play by the rules so they have to dilute our stock that we might all be as one at the expense of our uniqueness

States Right Party threatens to walk out of Congress

The intercongressional committee of the States Rights Party under Herman Asher has announced their intention to walk out of congress if the gun control act and repeal of communal integrity secures a majority of two thirds resulting in passage by NDP and Liberal delegations. 

Chairman Morris and Committe Chairman Asher have released a joint interparty statement to the general public which is as follows: 

"The Executive Board and Intercongressional Committee are shocked and appalled by the flagrant disregard shown by our colleagues in government belonging to the NDP and Liberal Party with respect to our constitutional right to keep and bear arms in defense of life and limb; furthermore we condemn repeal of communal integrity as detrimental to the prevailing atmosphere of racial harmony and freedom of association. Thus at the start of the second session of congress in the morning, We The Representatives of States Rights Party shall walkout of congress unless a compromise can be negotiated in a timely fashion. Lead with purpose: President Elliott arrives in Kundrati for international summit

This morning the president of the united republic of Likatonia, Freya Elliott has arrived in Kundrati as she prepares to represent Likatonia at the Kundrati international summit. It shows that we are becoming a more prominent player on the international stage. Likatonia and Kundrati have been allies for decades, it is hoped that this visit will bring our nations closer together so that we may be more united to face our common challenges. Upon her arrival in Kundrati president Elliott toured Kasaema this marks the first overseas visit of her presidency this has to be a truly historic moment. After her tour President Elliott spoke to the press,

Well I'm delighted to be here and to recieve such an amazing welcome, we look forward to the beginning of the summit and hope it will be fruitful. We will discuss the geopolitical situation we must act now to prevent a spiralling conflict and to keep the peace, we will also call for clear climate action. We have a lot to get through and discuss but I'm confident we will come to an agreement. We welcome the new Kundratian government and their commitment to international peace and diplomacy.

We are now at a pivotal moment the decisions we make today will impact on future generations we cannot afford to waste this moment. Likatonia is stepping up to deliver lasting change, it is hoped that this summit will do the same.
