Political Fallout: No confidence motion passes against the social conservative coalition government
[Image: beee0cdd-d5d0-4229-8813-a9fe17a88bd6-1140x641.jpg]
The SCP led coalition government has been toppled after just months in charge, a no confidence vote passed the federal congress overwhelmingly. A new cabinet has been quickly formed consisting of the National democrats, the socialists and the liberals. Vice-president Candy's government is the shortest serving government in Likatonian history, unfortunately vice president Candy could not bring the parties together. With Former vice president Candy now ranking amongst the least popular figures in Likatonian history narrowly outbeaten by former president Greenshaw. Meanwhile new polling out today shows President Elliott is the most popular politician in recent Likatonian history. Experts say that the vote was a mess with confusion at the federal congress, many thought we would be heading to early elections however the Candy government suffered a rebellion as the NDP and reform voted for the motion of no confidence. It is becoming clear to observers that Likatonian politics is becoming more and more divided along partisan lines. We remind all our readers that President Elliott won an overwhelming mandate to govern winning over 54% of the people's vote, but she has promised to be a president for all Likatonian's, no matter their background or political ideology.
It is clear that parties must come together and realize that we have a lot in common, but the people have spoken resoundingly they want change in Likatonia, president Elliott has the credentials to deliver that change. This morning president Elliott gave a few words to the press.
Quote:We are following closely what is happening in congress, which is why I have had meetings with leaders of the socialists and the liberals at frontier house. All parties should respect the political process in our country, we don't love our country only when we win. In answer to the calls from certain politicians for new elections and for me to resign the people already had a free and fair election, we must end the political chaos and begin to govern. I promise you I will and have always been a president for all Likatonians.
The no confidence vote passed this afternoon overwhelmingly with 158 in favour and 55 against. It is an all too familiar scene of political chaos and gridlock in the federal congress. It can only be hoped that the next government will be more united compared to the last.

Bertram Mendelev joins a million protesters on the street in SCP stronghold, East Bolton,  calling for the end of Freya Elliott's rule.

In a recent statement by the party leader, Bertram Mendelev calls the new coalition an "array of woke, climate-delusional fools".

"The people of this great nation chose the SCP, and it's clear mandate to bring change to Likatonia and bring us back from the brink of economic collapse. The 3 parties of woke terror will destroy our nation, I want to remind everyone that the liberal party are puppets of the NDP and the socialists are damned progressives who do not care about anything but identity politics and will not spend not a single second discussing economic equality as it goes against the wishes of their master. Freya Elliot is a cunning and treacherous fool who has manipulated her way into power once again despite her party coming 3rd and only winning the second round with the help of the coaltion of woke terror. "

Bertram Mendelev later announced the departure of all members of the previous cabinet.

"All the fools in our party who thought it was a good idea to align with the NDP have been sacked, including the former vice president Kemp Candy."

With protests raging on across the country but especially in East Bolton, we can only wait for the Government's response and we hope that no lives are lost as a result.

Brutal Police Crackdown, rubber ammunition and tear gas used : 5 dead and 2,403 injured.

Early today the police were instructed to mantain order and prevent damage to shops and homes, however many protesters fuelled with anger threw Molotov cocktails and petrol bombs injuring 26 policemen. According to the police, this warranted sufficient plausibility to use tear gas and rubber ammunition in order to disperse the protests. However, this caused many injuries and 5 people were pronounced dead at the scene, who were all of pension age and likely had nothing to do with the protest violence. Mr Mendelev, the leader of the SCP sent his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and vowed a 'political response'. Despite these harrowing events, there has been no statement by the government as of yet and many fear the military could be used to crackdown on future protests. The protests do not seem to be subsiding and Freya Elliott seems frozen in her chair.

Bertram Mendelev calls on protesters and policemen to be peaceful and respect the rule of law

The leader of the Social Conservatives called on protesters to "act like true Likatonians, sensible and respectful" whilst on the streets. With protests against the current coalition continuing throughout the country, many unions have called for strikes but have been denied by the authorities under the pretext that it is 'not a plausible reason'. Mendelev condemned such actions calling them a "denial of free speech" and went on further to say that the current coalition only cares about the profits of the businesses their friends own. With tensions still high can Freya Elliott cool the situation down or will things get hotter?

We are not going back: Police are ready to deal with protests in Likatonia
[Image: 49123263811-405bb4a9fa-b.jpg]
Today Likatonia is facing a choice, we must move forwards or go back, we choose to go forwards. Because to go back would mean to renege on our hard work to protect workers rights. This government has a strong mandate to govern, despite what any opposing party says. We remind our readers that the social conservatives failed in government, who's to say it will not happen again. The NDP are trusted to govern and President Elliott will not resign any time soon, asked if she will seek a 4th term in office she has been noncommittal. A Likatonia now divided, we must rise above this and unite together. President Elliott came into office to serve not to be served, she is committed to uniting the nation and delivering progress. The national democratic party's record is clear making peace with all of our neighbours, passing the workers rights act, health and safety legislation a first of its kind to strengthen protections for workers in our nation as well as legislation to protect our wildlife. Prime minister Quintin Morgan held a press conference today in which he was asked for a response to the protests in Likatonia,
Quote:Of course we are all following it closely, we understand there been a few protests and are expecting thousands of counter protesters. I have just come out of a meeting with the police chiefs across Likatonia we discussed our response and agreed to give them extra dispersal powers. I will just echo the presidents statement, you can't love your country only when you win. We are fully prepared and equipped to deal with anyone who disturbs the peace, of course you have a right to protest and to have your own political views heard that is fine, but it must remain peaceful. While the social conservatives and the Conservative party of Likatonia shout from the sidelines we are getting on with the job. President Elliott is a president for all Likatonians.
The Social conservatives who led the shortest serving government in Likatonian history and the Conservative party of Likatonia are continuing to shout from the sidelines and to block all the progress we are making, a stark contrast with the national democratic party. Prime minister Morgan says he has full confidence in the police to deal with the protests.

Bertram Mendelev says Freya Elliott’s remarks aren’t worth listening to

The leader of the SCP after recent remarks by the long-serving President, called Freya Elliott a “shameless liar” about her promises for workers and the poor.

“She’s been in the job for many years now and all she’s done is lie,lie and lie. We need change, and the people know this, we have the most votes. Her coaltion of terror want to destroy this great nation as they have been doing for years now, the only ones they help are the super rich, peverts and criminals. They want to remove rights for women and desensitise our children with pornography. Furthermore, just look at our economy, we are in recession and we have a massive defecit. I mean its just laughable the state we are in, we are the joke of the world congress.”

Freya Elliott also announced the increase of police powers, Bertram Mendelev replied simply, “Funny, that you murder 5 pensioners and then support the police more so they can kill
more pensioners, but as long as it pensioners who voted for us then it doesnt matter - total disregard for human life, nothing in her statement with condemnation or condolences just pure evil”.

United for peace: Likatonia lifts counterembargo against the Anantonese empire
[Image: fe8c1c150150953-62f47fca395ba.png]
After news spread that the Anantonese empire had lifted its embargo against Likatonia, President Elliott immediately convened the cabinet to brief them on the situation. It has become clear that Kalistan is finally ready for dialogue, to talk peace and to normalise relations with Likatonia. Experts say that the Kalistanis where most likely feeling the pressure from the Likatonian counterembargo. President Elliott has lifted this embargo against the Anantonese empire with immediate effect, in addition Likatonia will be reentering the Seleyan economics community as we seek to repair and heal our relations with the rest of the continent. This evening the Trans-Seleyan railway line has been reopened and the trains that where once held seized have begun to move again, this news comes after decades of servered relations with Likatonia and the Anantonese empire, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon again. President Elliott spoke to the press earlier today on the lifting of the embargo,
Quote:On behalf of Likatonia we thank the Luthorians for communicating with Kalistan and negotiating with them on our behalf, it shows that we commonwealth nations must stick together, our focus is always on the commonwealth. It is clear that the Kalistani government have acted in good faith, therefore we will be lifting the counter embargo and will build closer relations with the rest of our continent by rejoining the SEC and the TSR. Today is a good day for world peace what was unimaginable just 5 years ago is now possible. We do intend on normalising relations with Kalistan and the rest of the anantonese empire, this is a diplomatic spat that has gone on for far longer than necessary. Lets seize the moment for peace in Northern Seleya.
Our correspondent witnessed the extraordinary scenes as the trains once frozen in time began to move again. However this is a fragile peace we do not yet know if and for how long it will last. With President Elliott facing significant protests here at home and the worry of a conservative government on the horizon there are huge uncertainties around what comes next.

The truth matters: International investigation begins into Kundrati labor camps
[Image: 1x-1.png]
An international investigative team from Clovisport has arrived in Kundrati this morning. The team will also soon be joined by more investigators from Beiteynu, it will be completely independent of any government. They will be tasked to determine the facts about the alleged human rights abuses at the labor camps, if the allegations are indeed true and who if anyone is responsible. It will also investigate the destruction of civilian infrastructure and what lessons can be learned from the war. The chronicle understands that the Kundrati government have agreed to fully cooperate in any investigation as they seek to clear their name. President Elliott called it necessary, the Likatonian government will fully respect the outcome of the investigation and they will have our full backing. After years of conflict the Kundrati people are ready for peace, Likatonia will be there to help them rebuild, people on the ground say there is nothing left. However to do so we must first understand the facts and who is responsible for this destruction on an unprecedented scale, Likatonia will be there for the Kundrati people when other nations where not. President Elliott said a few words to the press earlier today
Quote:It is high time for this investigation to commence, an independent international investigation by a coalition of peace loving nations. Beiteynu and Likatonia will conduct a thorough investigation of the alleged human rights abuses, they will report back to us and the rest of the international community. They have our full backing to carry out their work, and we encourage the entire international community to commend Beiteynu and Likatonia for our commitment to ending this conflict. Our record on this is clear my administration did not side with anyone during this war, however now that the war is over we must help them to rebuild what they have lost.
War is not inevitable, together we can achieve world peace.
