Conservative-liberal Helná Pshamazrk claims landslide victory

Political newcomer Helná Pshamazrk, 50, secured a swift coalition agreement after the tense elections.

11 November 5703, Wiel, Kingdom of Wrnuke
The last Trmékez cabinet fell in July 5703 after a massive split between coalition partners Tanhri's Will (TP), the Jelbics Forward (WJ), the King's Alliance (KB) and the Most Important Brother Party (JP) on new emission laws for industrial giants along Wrnuke's ecologically sensitive 'urban coast'. This strip of coastline is the centre mass of Wrnuke's major cities that stretches from the northern city of Nrktadan to the capital of Wiel. In between these two major cities are the shipbuilding metropole Hafndan, the most populous city Mirztátpylz and the industrial city of Brtléjezstad. The ecologically driven coalition partner Most Important Brother Party wanted stricter rules, which clashed with the party of Prefect Trmékez that has historically favoured the ever-growing industry of the Jelbic nation.

After the collapse Prefect Trmékez resigned as party leader of Tanhri's Will (TP) but continued to serve as demissionary Prefect. Subsequently, the leader of the conservative-liberal Liberal Vanguard (LP), Minister Jezmrjkai Nrktahyeon, also resigned. While the big tent TP selected party veteran Hemze Hemzesrmko Cahn to lead them into the new elections, the conservative-liberal LP opted for a newcomer: Helná Pshamazrk. She had joined the party a year prior, after her resignation as Director-General of the RSB. While Cahn focused on the previous issues Pshamazrk threw a new angle into the campaign and hammered the last Trmékez cabinet their inaction, claiming they only bickered when difficult choices had to be made. Instead, the focus of the campaign became global threats and re-aligning international priorities for the Jelbic nation. The strategy paid off, as Pshamazrk and her conservative-liberals won an astounding 71 seats in the Grand Council. The centrist-populist King's Alliance (KB) under veteran leader Harif was the first to join coalition talks, the two parties found an unlikely partner in the Ahmadi Union (AK) under Mhmet Kamék. The Ahmadist party leader is the first in his party's history to split with the AK's traditional pacifist beliefs, the left-wing conservative party gave the coalition the narrowest majority possible: 113 out of 225 seats.

The coalition agreement is considered brief for one in Wrnuke, a deliberate choice to focus on core issues. The new Prefect declared multiple times that "time spent on minute details, is time wasted". Critics, especially within the party, fear this may lead to future crisis's. So far, however, the atmosphere within the coalition is seen as positive and productive. The agreement emphasises vast industrial investments, with a big focus on increased rearmament to 'counter global threats'. Prefect Pshamazrk has announced her intention to set up a summit with potential new partners. Controversially, it is expected that the Triad Republic will be one of the new partners the Prefect is eyeing. The two states have been at odds since the Liberation of Amudim, where Jelbic-sponsored rebels fought against the Triad in its occupied territories. While the two nations have never fully severed ties, and trade has continued, many are questioning whether the Triad is willing to forgive Wrnuke for its perceived transgressions. The strong partnership between the Triad and Wrnuke's traditional rival Luthori, mostly on the subject of Amudim, might also make any advancements increasingly difficult. Another potential invited party is Istalia, which initiated a thaw four years ago. The new Prefect has stated her intention to pursue Istalian-Jelbic relations. For now, the primary objective seems to be to settle on a new budget which will without a doubt see a strong increase in defence spending.
