Emergency Powers Reform and Democracy Act enacted; State Diet gets to work.

With the State Diet being restored earlier this year, Kuniyuki has gone to work with his goal of expanding democracy, and limiting executive power, which has resulted in the tri partisan Emergency Powers Reform and Democracy Act passing the State Diet, and being signed into law rather quickly. The goal of the EPRDA is to ensure that Seko cannot be an anocracy again, not without a heavy institutional fight. As such, what does the EPRDA do?
For starters, the executive authority can only be used in a State of Emergency (of which, the judiciary will be able to strike down if deemed inappropriate), and it will hold a time limit of 6 months. This ensures that no future Prime Minister can easily dissolve the State Diet. Furthermore, clear criteria's will be established on political party's, mandating that all political party's adhere respect for democratic norms, results and procedures, and that explicit anti democratic or violent overthrow of the state. Furthermore, the General Election Management Council will be reformed into a non partisan, independent direction. The goal is to restore confidence in democracy and re-empower the legislature.
With it passing quickly in the State Diet, this summer is expected to see the political environment shake up, as the Progressive Party has considered a merger with moderate socialists, the Liberal Party is looking to reorganize itself and the Cooperative Democrats have the unenviable task of figuring out how to organize a new Right for Seko, without diluting centrist conservatism.
