Sekowan Campaign Trail Begins as elections loom later this year; Liberals look to hold onto the Prime Ministership as Social Masses aims to win voters over.

Campaign season has arrived in Seko, as the big three party's look to secure a victory in the State Diet. With the Aki Cabinet having presided over a relatively calm period in Sekowan politics, the Liberal Peoples Party, and especially Aki are entering the race with a competitive edge compared to the Social Masses Party and the Cooperative Democrats. The key theme of the campaign trail however, has been surprisingly, foreign policy and unsurprisingly, the economy. With the economy showing steady signs of growth, the question is less on how to conduct recovery and whether to maintain the Laissez-faire attitude towards the free market, and continue privatization efforts, or to shift gears towards a more mixed economy and empower the state in economic development.
On the left, is the Social Masses Party, with Hanamura Seiko rallying for social democratic reforms, pushing for a stronger state presence in the economy, advocating for the creation of state buyers to ensure stable prices across the board, strengthing public welfare, and enacting a national job corps program. In terms of foreign policy, she's advocated for largely the status quo to be kept, mostly focusing on domestic policy. Seiko has largely focused on campaigning amongst workers, the unemployed and those who have felt left behind by the economic growth.
To the right, the Cooperative Democratic Party, with Yasumi Shijo looking to the right, has called for "small business capitalism", endorsing policies to graciously strengthen and support family and small businesses, as well as agricultural expansions, coupled with protective tariffs. Given the LPP taking the economic liberalism road, the CDP has been forced to look towards moderate right wing protectionism. In terms of foreign policy, the CDP has campaigned strongly on strengthing ties with democratic countries abroad, and joining the Altéa Accords.
This leaves the Liberal Peoples Party, which has campaigned on a continuation of the Aki Cabinet, looking to continue privatization, adhere to strict neutrality, and continue steady economic growth. With firm support from the middle and upper classes, as well as entrepreneurs, it's largely a race between the Liberals and the Social Masses as the CDP isn't really expected to win due to their rather lackluster message. Whatever the case, anything can happen over the summer as the campaign season begins.
