In a stunning development, the Supreme Cooperative Court of the Nadiyan Confederation has ruled the current PCP supermajority as unconstitutional and orders for its immediate dissolution following a trial launched by the Socialist Revolutionary Association of Nadiya.
The trial that led to the justices forcing the dismantling of the Pastels was launched by the Socialist Revolutionary Association of Nadiya, a founding member of the People's Alliance for Nadiya and current opposition leader, shortly after it was leaked that PCP leadership planned to merge all member parties of the coalition. The issue was first examined by the Chamber of Justices where the SRs accused the Pastels of undermining Nadiyan democracy and the principles of the October revolution by openly violating article 2-1 of the Nadiyan constitution.
When debates in the CoJ failed to give anything fruitful, the matter was raised to a confederal judge which ruled in favor of PAN's case, but PCP defense decided to break the judgement and take the matter to the Supreme Cooperative Court. The "War of Colours", as it was nicknamed on the media, took nearly 2 years to be completed as both sides kept on bringing more and more proofs to defend their cause.
Ultimately, the Supreme Justices ruled with a crushing majority of 14-0 the unconstitutionality of the Pastels' current composition and domination of the Nadiyan legislative body. The judges in their statements described the current PCP majority as a "blatant violation of article 2-1 of the Nadiyan Confederation, a betrayal of the values of the October Revolution, and an unjustifiable attack against the right of every Nadiyan citizen sound of mind and logic in their choice of national representation and democratic promises guaranteed fo them by article 3-3 of the Constitution. As such, we order that the Pastel Coalition For Progress begins the process of dismantling it's organization and let go of its members."
"
To shed some clarity, article 2-1 of the Nadiyan constitution is known as the multiparty democracy amendment" which states:
"The Nadiyan Confederation is a multiparty, free, sovereign, and parliamentary democracy which prohibits any parties from rulling by themselves through the control of the Nadiyan General Assembly. As such, elections for Assembly members shall strictly be conducted using proportional representation and any party winning more than or equal to 45% of the popular vote will be forced to dismantle into smaller parties or give up the excess seats untill the balance is restored."
