Stunning New North Baegukese Constitution Paves Way to Mutli-Party Democracy, Ends Party-State Rule
North Baeguk's Armed Forces now swear loyalty to the state, not the party. The new Constitution also removed all references to 'Communism' and reinstated articles calling for Peaceful Reunification, which had been stricken under Buyeo Bitnaeri.

Almost 80 years of exclusive one-party rule in North Baeguk are set to end this year following the passage of the new Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic of Dranea in the National People's Congress. The NPC's approved draft signals an unspeakably massive shift in the governing institutions and philosophy.
Most notably, the Workers Party's dictatorship over power will be replaced by a de jure multi-party system. Their control of the security forces and armed forces have been transferred to the state government. Additionally, communism has been replaced by peaceful North-South Reunification as the ultimate goal of the government.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Peaceful Reunification has become the "paramount goal" of the state
Sections referencing the "total eradication of hostile forces", a thin veil for the Southern government, have been replaced with new text calling for peaceful reunification of Baeguk at all costs.
Chapter I, Section II, Article I of the old constitution:
The paramount goal and supreme aim of the DPRD is the total eradication of hostile forces and unreconcilable reactionary foes, and the liberation of the working people for socialist construction and the realization of a communist utopia free of the state, class, money, and the exploitation of man by man.
Chapter I, Section II, Article I of the new constitution:
The paramount goal and supreme aim of the state will be the peaceful and mutually beneficial reunification of the Kyo people into a single Dranean nation. The Kyo nation of Dranea, which encompasses the entire Dranean Peninsula, will be one territory and one people united through peaceful means of consensus and reconciliation. The liberated working people will be guaranteed rights and happiness in a democratic society free from oppression.
- Socialism no longer central
Sections mentioning the socialist control economy have been edited or deleted.
- The President and State, not the General Secretary and Party, control the army and security forces
Chapter III, Section I, Article IV of the old constitution:
IV. The Kyo People's Army, the protectors of the socialist revolution, report directly to the Workers Party of Dranea.
V. The General Secretary of the Workers Party of Dranea is the commander in chief of the Kyo People's Army.
Chapter III, Section I, Articles IV-V of the new constitution:
IV. The Kyo People's Army, the armed forces of the entire Kyo people and Dranean nation, swear their total and absolute allegiance and fealty to the State Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Dranea.
V. The President of the DPRD is the commander in chief of the Kyo People's Army and the State Security Forces.
- No political party is guaranteed power
The WPD has lost its constitutional monopoly on political power.
Chapter II, Section IV, Article III of the old constitution:
The Workers Party of Dranea commands a leading role in the administration of the state in perpetuity. The Workers Party is vested with supreme political authority by the revolutionary masses.
Chapter II, Section IV, Article I of the new constitution:
The Kyo people have the right to elect their own officers of the state, to form political unions, and to express their political freedoms. No provision shall be made granting special privilege or potency to a specific political party.
- All mentions of 'Communism' have been stricken
The word Communism is no longer found anywhere in the constitution.
- The Chairperson of the State Affairs Commission will be replaced by "The President"
The post of Chairperson has been replaced with the title of President, and unlike the former post, the latter will be directly elected by national popular vote.
