The worst has finally hir Istapali as the Central Bank of the Sublime Republic officially announced that Istapali is defaulting on both its foreign and internal debts alongside filling for bankruptcy with the world Congress following catastrophic electoral results and failure to form a government.
Ever since the resignations of Simba Coghlan from the position of speaker and Mzukisi Dlulane as prime minister, the country was forced to hold a snap elections in which the Alliance for Change and Hope did secure a majority but a number of their deputies continue to be absent leading to the quorum not being met to form a government.
Immediately after the country was declared bankrupt, the value of the Mertical, Istapali's currency, collapsed overnight and fell from a pretty low 12000 Mc = 1 CFR to 700,000 Mc = 1CFR overnight. The collapse of the currency's value caused inflation to skyrocket and break historical records as it reached 739% and people scrambled to buy supplies and daily necessities before they became luxuries.
On Monday when the stock market opened, the news of the nation's bankruptcy had hit the investors hard as the screens of the building were all flashing red as a massive selling of parts was being orchestrated by investors to save their entire savings. Unfortunately when they saw that their entire reserves were effectively wiped out and we're as valuable as toilet paper, many lined up to the windows and began jumping to end their lives. The director of the stock exchange, Khuthala Jali was found dead in her office with a suicide letter apologizing for all the people she didn't warn of the impending economic crash.
Hundred of thousand of citizens then frantically pulled their money from all their bank accounts and thousands more even raided the building the CBSR and found that all of the staff already left, killed themselves, or died trying to block the angry. In a desperate attempt to stop the crash of the country's currency, the president ordered the deployment of the army to all money printing offices and allowed them to open fire if any attempts to infiltrate are made.
These news coupled with the new parasite infecting this year's maze harvest and locusts devastating the wheat fields has pushed many to believe that this cascade of crises is nothing more than divine punishment for straining too far from his path with many starting to look at the country's LGBT community with hatred and blaming them for it.
