Haradesa - Following months of intense attacks, domestic pressure, severed supply lines and mass desertions the remnants of the Nsanian Occupation Force stationed in the MOZ has withdrawn from Istapalian territory, marking the end of nearly a year long occupation that has resulted in thousands of casualties on both sides.

Nsanian forces, poorly supplied and increasingly under pressure, abandoned their last position late last night in the middle of the night. In their chaotic retreat, hundreds more were reportedly gunned down by ambushes set up by Istapalian revolutionaries. On the Nsanian side of the border, improvised defensive lines have so far managed to repell attempts by revolutionaries to enter Nsanlosa proper.

The withdrawal comes at a moment where MDN forces have managed to break KLF lines in the north of Nsanlosa, resulting in a breakthrough that has seen them liberate large parts of the north, with forces quickly pushing towards Kagba itself. KLF representatives have reportedly asked the central government in Haradesa to come to the negotiating table, with reincorporation into Nsanlosa now a serious option as to preserve Kagba as a territorial entity within it.

The recent months of relentless attacks, despite being succesfull in pushing Nsanian forces out of Istapali, have created a deep resentment towards Istapali and its revolutionary factions amongst the general Nsanian population. It is estimated that nearly 3400 Nsanian civilians have been killed in bombings, shootings and sabotage attacks throughout the country. The MDN, despite having approved the withdrawal from Istapali, has called the revolutionaries in Istapali "a danger to our country." A large part of the Nsanian populace now seems to agree with that assessment.

Meanwhile the capital of Haradesa has seen a return of a somewhat normal day to day life. Transitional Security Forces have established nominal control in the city of 18 million, while businesses reopen and civilian life returns. Poverty is still rampant, and crime all but solved, but at least the MDN authorities have managed to stabilize the dire situation. Elsewhere in the country control is mixed, with several factions having split from the MDN and now openly claiming their own territory, further threatening the fragile state of the country.

Chairman of the Transitional Council, Tamu Rashid, has revealed conceptual plans for a new constitution, which seems to break up the powers of the presidency and transition the country to a federal, parliamentary government. With the fractured status of the country the feasability of these plans is however uncertain.
