Mayor Zhu-allied candidate wins presidential election

The Daliborian presidential elections are now fully counted, enabling us to confirm the election of the National Conservative Party's Han Qinghao as the new president of Dalibor, succeeding the Liberal incumbent Li Dehong who decided not to run for another term.
This marks a decisive victory for NCP party leader and Dalibor City Mayor Zhu Guowei who seeks a formal mandate to proceed with his grand plan of the reclamation of the Outlands through the Daliborian Armed Forces. A violent approach that needs to be authorized by the President as the head of the Armed Forces and a move that was staunchly opposed by the incumbent president Li. First steps where taken during the second year of Zhu's tenure nonetheless, namely the occupation of some of the areas of Outer Dalibor City bordering the province, rendering this years' election the first one where voting could take place in polling stations outside the boundaries of Dalibor City and neighboring Gangzhou.
The election outcome can be seen as a positive judgement of the people on the first half of Zhu Guowei's tenure as mayor. A majority seems to endorse the brutal police crackdown on crime, especially associated with the Tian Long Tong triad. Critics point out however that the efforts are focused on low-level gangsters mostly so far and that the Phoenix Brothers and Wu Mian Hui triads seem to avoid police scrutiny so far. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what happens now that the NCP managed to accumulate all offices needed to proceed with its Outlands reclamations plans and how the triads will react to this breach into the lawless territories which are vital for their operations? Also, how will the international community react to whom the lawless Outlands have always been a thorn in the eye? Only time will tell
