People's Party Elects Roman Cervantes as new Leader

Roman Cervantes is elected as the only candidate standing during the People's Party annual conference. The assembly, still shocked by the recent death of the party's founder and incumbent leader, Jonah Margrove, was not as jovial as was planned. 

Balloons by the hundreds have reportedly been sent back. The two day conference went swiftly with hardly any uplifting speeches or rowdy debates to make a note of. 

The highlight of the conference, the victory speech of the newly elected leader, lasted for an entire 12 minutes. All eyes were on Mr. Cervantes. This was the most important moment of his political life. Can he truly convince the people that just deleted him, that he is truly the best man to lead the party henceforth. Not simply just the man who stepped up just because someone had to. Can he prove to members and voters all across Beluzia that he deserved to win? It is unclear if he would have won if he and Margrove had faced off in a leadership contest. 

Despite recent polling disasters, Margrove has always had a fierce and loyal base of supporters. The choice of Mr. Cervantes to challenge the party leadership earlier in the year is seen as many as incredibly controversial. 

Cervantes' speech broached this topic head on. He talked about political responsibility the virtues of respect for your fellow man. At times his speech veered off into something resembling a sermon celebrating Margrove and the party he created. 

This was probably the best thing he could have done. The Party has a promising future. But for that future to come to pass, they must be united. Time will tell if Roman Cervantes, the young and compelling Bailonan will be the man for the job!
