Gallagher appointed as Prime Minister. What now?

Fort William, Principality of Orange, Luthori - Amids Mr. Gallagher's appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury after Labour's electoral success against the Conservatives during the most recent election, most political pundits planned that this government, dominated by the "Left" Faction of the National Labour Party would be a "government of reform", opposed to the decade-long political stability era, proned by the Conservatives in the Imperial Diet and Imperial Senate. Mr. Gallagher's Labour scored an impressive win against the Lord Holdenburg's Conservatives in the Imperial Diet, winning over 317 seats out of the 529 in the Imperial Diet, crushing the Prime Minister's hopes for a renewed majority and mandate. Mr. Grapher's Conservatives have been frequantely attacked during this campaign as being "inactive", "uncharacteristic" and "lacking a spine", something that has been shared by many Luthorians, tired to the Party's apparent grip on power and their apparent inactiveness on the institutional, societal, economic and defence issues. A poll from the Luthorian Poll Analystics for The Times, stated that the Tory Party was "likely to suffer its worst electoral defeat since 5413" and their landslide defeat to the Labour Party, ancestor to the National Labour Party. Gallagher's victory was likely and forecasted by analysts, who were not surprised of the side of that said victory. Now that Mr. Gallagher sits on his throne at the 10 Crown Street, his radical agenda for reform being now known to the public due to his campaign speeches, he still must announces the policy-making from Her Majesty's Government during his 5-year tenure as Prime Minister.

Mr. Gallagher is a radical, considering himself as being "the heir of the fights of the Socialist-Ecologist movement" during the beginning of the century. As such, his agenda plans for a radical transformation of the Luthorian educational system, by making a system "that is done for all and not for a few [...], a system free from outside influences such as wealth", as he stated during one of his campaign stops at Winchester, Orange. He also vowed to reform the Imperial Senate, to enforce the Diet's supremacy over the Senate, something that has been left in limbo during the last leftist government, he, in this aim, aims at removing the rights for hereditary peers to sit on the Imperial Senate, drastically reducing the influence of the Lords over the Senate's decisions over the overall decisions choosed by Parliament, vowing that he "wants the right of the people heard above all others". Finally, Mr. Gallagher seeks to radically increase the state ownership of some key industries during his Premiership, stating that his government would look into "possibilities" to increase the state's involvement in military industry, while also advocating for cuts in the Department of Defence's overall budget, advocating for a smaller military sector, rather than an expanded one. In foreign policy, the traditional high sticking point for the Tories, the new Prime Minister has not yet stated his intentions, although, due to the administration being dominated by traditional Tories, so no radical changes in policy, apart from an shift in narrative should be expected.

The Prime Minister's social agenda is in stark contrast of the one defended by the Tories, while the Tories are promising the uplift the standards of the police to reach new standards set by the Internal Ministry, Labour seeks to increase the funding made to cities and to poor neighboorhoods in hopes of increasing their status in society, this would come in hand with the education reforms planned by the "Left" faction of the National Labour Party, led by Education Secretary, Gloria McTysen. This increase of funds to cities and the creation of long-term sustainable development programs for poor neighboorhoods present in Fort William, Alchester and all across the realm will also come by the creation of new government agencies, such as the National Development Management Council, which would, for example, tasked with handling the issue of development of cities and economically weak neighboorhoods.
