Baegukese-Kazulian Bilateral Summit, Emperor Hwamu rides GDR to Skalm

5590.8.17. - Skalm - PM Gwisil Gowoonyaesol traveled with a diplomatic entourage today on her first trip to meet with her Kazulian counterpart His Excellency Prime Minister Eirik Halvorsen and Her Excellency Ingrid Sæther, Kazulian Foreign Minister. Though, as members of the West Dovanian Union Baeguk and Kazulia have very close channels for interaction and communication, the holding of exclusive bilateral summits within the WDU is common practice to intensively discuss one-on-one relations. Today marked the beginning of the first Bilateral summit to be held exclusively between the two parties in years, as Baeguk continues to shore up relations with her neighbor to the south and only continental connection. 

His Imperial Majesty the Emperor Hwamu also traveled to meet his counterpart, His Royal Highness Birger av Hinnsby, by civilian passenger rail. Though protected by members of the Hwarang Corps constantly, the Emperor interacting with and taking the Grand Dovanian Rail (GDR) was televised and publicized to the people and was received quite well as an amusing oddity. The Grand Dovanian Rail, spanning over 里23,652 Ri (9,289 kilometers in international units), was hailed as a triumph of the Western Pan-Dovanist movement upon its completion in 5352. The line spans 4 nations on its journey between Seko and Baeguk, all of them being WDU members. Whilst transnational crossings are operated by Transdovanian Railways (formerly Dovanian Railways), national rail lines also have a stake in maintaining the GDR. 

Relations between Kazulia and Baeguk have been historically tense; Kazulia invaded and occupied the two southernmost provinces of Baeguk during the 47th century, Baeguk annexed the historically contested "Hando/Nordgrønt" region following Luthorian arbitration in the 1700s, and Kazulian Verlreióar (Riders of Vel, otherwise known as the "Vikings") constantly raided Baegukese civilian ships before the 14th century. However, since the creation of the WDU, strong cultural and economic ties have resulted in a blossoming partnership and even a mutual military alliance. Many believe that the continued and enduring new alliance between Kazulia and Baeguk is a further sign that Pan-Dovanism in the continental West is not dead.
