"What is happening...?"

The table trembled, noticeably. Her emptied out glass fell on the floor and shattered. Was it a sign for what she had just done? Was fate demanding collateral? But why now? What was different? She pictured the boy's body on the floor. The 3rd one in so many years.
Blood was spilled and it was not innocent.
She folded the note, removed the loose brick from the wall, placed the note delicately inside the gap. Brick back in, the unmistakable sound of urban texture permeating the silence. Dust danced in the candlelight.
Years and years would pass, until the 4th boy would come and the deadly pin would linger once more.
