Operation Hammerdown begins as a renewed offensive against the IDF begins; Negotiations begin in Lonmouth as a Confederation deal is floated.

The MacGannon government has looked to take advantage of its new advantages and has begun Operation Hammerdown, looking to utilize foreign legions and foreign aid to bring down the IDF en masse. From what has been shared with news sources, Operation Hammerdown will target supply lines to cut off IDF fighters, encirclement and containment, and strengthen counter insurgency operations. The goal is to completely cripple the IDF and force a surrender, or force them to the negotiating table.
Meanwhile for the KLF, it seems they've begun having some infighting due to moderates accepting the negotiation offer. Before we expand on that, let's dive further into these negotiations. In Lonmouth, representatives of the KLF and the AUC meet to begin negotiations regarding a sustainable long term peace. And while negotiations haven't concluded, various proposals have floated about, likely to be accepted. For starters, amnesty for fighters who haven't committed war crimes, and amnesty for remaining fighters who lay down arms. Alongside this, New Englia would be reformed into a confederation, with Kilani communities have the right to govern themselves freely. This confederation proposal would see a form of 3 systems, one country kind of solution. The Kilani Free Region, Bridgemont and the Inglian Core Region would be the 3 regions within this Confederation. The KFR would be governed by Kilani, the ICR by Inglian and Bridgemont wound be governed by the Federal Government. All states would have the right to govern their own affairs, including education, language, culture, and economics. Foreign affairs, monetary policy, and defense would remain under the Federal Government.
As such, while hardline Kilani nationalists may reject it due to the lack of independence, and hardliners in the AUC may oppose it due to amnesty, the confederation proposal is likely to be accepted and enacted once the IDF is brought down. And with rumours circulating about moderate Inglian nationalists wanting to negotiate, it is likely that Operation Hammerdown will see the Years of Lead come to a close. Even if it fails, it will be one step closer to peace, and if it succeeds, the IDF can be crushed, and peace can return as the Confederation Proposal is likely to be enacted.
