Empowering the Public Accounts Committee to conduct deep dives into years of Liberal spending, reexamining long-delayed health transfer negotiations with the provinces—something former Prime Minister Kensington famously kicked down the road—and preparing for an ambitious Fall Economic Statement.

We are preparing a statement that will be honest with the people. The fiscal state of the nation is... not ideal. But it’s nothing we can’t clean up with proper stewardship and discipline.

Former Falristan Premier Jack Delamont, a star recruit in 5634 and now MP for Tremaine Centre, took the Liberal leadership on the final ballot—besting former Defence Minister Christopher Reinhardt, and MPs Elinor Chase and Devin Malley. Delamont is expected to bring a pragmatic, centrist tone as the party attempts to rebuild from its worst showing in decades.

Meanwhile, over in the Republican camp, the controversial—but clearly powerful—Marie Kincaid was unanimously acclaimed as party leader following a dramatic internal shakeup in August. Longtime leader Warren Douglas was ousted in what insiders describe as a ‘put up job,’ with accusations of delegate stacking and backroom threats swirling behind the scenes.

Douglas remains in the caucus, but sources tell HBC News that he—and at least three other MPs—are deeply unhappy with Kincaid’s hardline ‘Republic or nothing’ stance. Whether that fractures the already small Republican caucus remains to be seen.

Kalistan-Kundrati Deal Sparks International Tensions
