The Istalian naval industry is about to return to shine with an announcement that marks a new era for the national industry. "AUDISS-Leonardi Cantieri Integrati", a giant in the naval engineering sector and a division of the "AUDISS-Leonardi" industrial group, has officially unveiled the projects of its new classes of ships: the “Vanukamax” container carriers and the “Petrolax” oil tankers, from which the future “Gasax” class of gas/methane tankers will derive.
These are naval platforms developed on a common engineering basis, designed to meet the needs of global trade in the 57th century, taking into account the environmental impact of maritime trade and which will therefore see the application of the most modern technologies. The new units will be able to cross the renovated Grand Canal of Vanuku, whose expansion and modernization, largely financed by Istalia, should be completed within a decade. This will allow them to transport volumes of goods and energy products greater than those of current ships, with significant advantages in terms of efficiency and sustainability.
The initiative is part of a broader framework of expansion of trade between Istalia and the rest of the world, incentivizing infrastructure investments and stimulating the entire maritime sector. The shipyards that will be involved in the necessary work to be able to build these giants will be the historic Leonardi ones in Terebbìa and Neapulia, although, given the highly modular building approach to cut costs, the actors and places involved will interests many more areas of the country.
To crown this moment of renewed industrial momentum, there is also the birth of "Cantieri Mari del Sud", an ambitious joint venture between IMERIN, Leonardi Cantieri Integrati and the prestigious "Sant’Elia Yacht & Sailing", already famous in the past at an international level for the production of yachts and megayachts, especially under the Third Empire.
The shipyards of the new company will be localized in Albeta, in the east of the Nicoma region, where the already existing yards will be upgraded to face the new needs, and will be dedicated exclusively to the construction of cruise ships. The market response was immediate: the newly formed "Corona Crociere", the restructured heir of the historic "NSC Crociere", has already placed its first orders.
Corona Crociere represents the rebirth of a glorious firm, after difficult decades following the nationalization of the last century and the collapse caused by the Peninsula War. The rescue and relaunch operation was possible thanks to a consortium formed by the GFCAB, IMERIN and the "Credito Nazionale delle Cooperative", soon to become the "Banca di Credito Nazionale", today the largest financial institution in the country. The new name of the company (in Luthorian Corona means "Crown") reflects the entry of the financial group of the Istalian imperial family, the GFCAB, into the company and was chosen precisely to honor the Imperial Crown, extremely active in the rebirth and now growth of the national economy, also working in collaboration with the major industrial and financial groups of the country, first and foremost IMERIN.
The choice to locate the shipyards in Albeta, where Sant'Elia has always had its facilities for yachts and motorboats, is not accidental: the company and IMERIN strongly wanted this project to trigger a new industrial season in Alaria, historically penalized compared to the Sarrentine Peninsula, where the major industries are concentrated today.
Albeta will thus be able to become a cutting-edge industrial hub, with the induced effects that are expected to be generated by shipbuilding, from components to logistics and training services, and will be able to contribute to narrowing the gap in industrial development between the Island and the Peninsula.
In the meantime, the national automotive sector continues to face complex challenges, a symbol of a wider industrial gap between the island of Alaria and the Sarrentino Peninsula. "Estal", historically and consistently the largest automotive company in the country, has long been the main industrial reality of Alaria, representing a pillar of the island's economy. However, over the years, the company has progressively relocated around 70% of its production to the Peninsula, contributing to worsening the industrial imbalance between the two areas of the country. Today, moreover, Estal is not sailing in calm waters: marked by a deep technological crisis that began in the last century, it is now negotiating a corporate restructuring plan with the State. This plan will most likely include the intervention of IMERIN, with the aim of saving the company and relaunching its activities, with a strong commitment to electric and hybrid technologies. A necessary step for the future of the Istalian automotive industry, a sector that is currently in serious crisis and in which foreign brands, mainly Dundorfian and, rapidly rising, Kanjorian, now dominate 63% of the national market, with the istalian firms today still comptetive being "Spada" and "Tridente", although both producing luxury and supercars and thus far from the market of the mass produced vehicle.
The new initiatives in the naval sector, combined with the attempt to revive historic sectors such as the automotive sector, represent clear signals of how Istalia does not intend to be left behind in these very important sectors. In an increasingly interconnected and competitive world, industrial revival passes through innovation, synergies between the public and private sectors and the desire to invest in the most disadvantaged territories.
