State visit to Baltusia: diplomacy, economy and institutional vision at the center of the talks

Welcome with all honors, Emperor Alessandro V and Minister Secretary of State Giunio sign new economic and trade deals, sealing the beginning of a new phase in bilateral relations between the two countries

JOHNSTON, BALTUSIA – The Emperor of the Istalians Alessandro V, accompanied by the Minister Secretary of State Valeriano Giunio, made a heartfelt state visit to Baltusia, marking an important step forward in bilateral relations between the two countries. This is the first official visit of a foreign head of state to the Baltusian country since the proclamation of the monarchy, which took place this year after a complex period of institutional transition.

During the official ceremony held at former Presidential Palace of Johnston, Alessandro V was the first international leader to personally congratulate King George of Baltusia, who recently ascended to the throne at the end of the Regency established following the so-called Silver Revolution, which put an end to the long syndacalist regime. The accession to the throne of the sovereign, of the newly formed House of Alvarez and relative of the Kalistan royal family, has been interpreted by many observers as a strategic gesture aimed at strengthening ties with influential regional neighbor with which Baltusia is rebuilding relations since the fall of syndacalism.

In his official speech, Emperor Alessandro V expressed appreciation for Baltusia's "wise choice" to establish itself as a constitutional monarchy, which, he declared to the press, recognized in the figure of the Sovereign:

An independent and super partes element, capable of guaranteeing stability and preventing the return of authoritarian personalisms. The monarchy will offer an institutional counterweight to the mutability of party interests, promoting a lasting and deep-rooted pluralism. It is precisely through its impartiality, its rootedness in tradition, and its distance from the electoral contingency that the Crown can foster continuity in times of change, safeguard the unity of the State, and act as a moral compass in moments of uncertainty. In a constitutional framework, the monarchy does not compete with democratic institutions, but rather reinforces them, offering a symbol of cohesion above factions, and ensuring that the rules of the game are respected even when political winds shift. That is the enduring value of a modern monarchy: not power, but responsibility.

During the visit, the Emperor and Minister Giunio also met with First Minister Aiden Merridan, who recently survived a serious terrorist attack that caused dozens of victims. The Istalian representatives expressed their full solidarity, praising the Prime Minister’s firmness and dignity in facing the threat of political violence, remaining faithful to the democratic values and freedom of the Baltusian people.

The focus of the visit was the intense economic negotiations that led to the definition of a Cooperation, Free Trade and Investment Agreement between Istalia and Baltusia. The agreement provides for the complete elimination of duties on goods intended for retail sale between the two countries and the introduction of a maximum ceiling of a few percentage points for goods sold in large quantities between companies or between companies and governments. This ceiling is intended to progressively decrease in function of the total volume of trade, until it disappears above a certain threshold, to encourage the growth of bilateral trade.
An exception is foreseen for strategic goods and materials, which are still subject to zero duty but for which special procedures will be introduced to ensure that their use responds to purposes of common interest.

The treaty also includes a broad chapter on customs and tax cooperation, with simplification measures for the documentation and transit of goods, the exchange of information between authorities, the movement of capital and the fight against tax evasion, including the prevention of double taxation.

During the talks, the Istalian government also facilitated contacts between the Baltusian authorities and ICM Terra Terminals, the company of the Istamar Holding group, which is expanding its global network of logistics hubs. The parties reached a preliminary agreement for the opening of a cargo hub in Baltusia, which would represent a strategic node in the North-Selaian trade flows.

It's another success for the Istalian company that in the these previous days announced the conclusion of similar negotiations with the government of Bianjie for the rapid start of work in the port of Namušun, one of the main ports in the country and located not far from the capital Gemun.

The visit of Alessandro V and Valeriano Giunio thus ends with an extremely positive balance, marking not only a turning point in bilateral relations between Istalia and Baltusia, but also a significant step in the international projection of Istalian companies and in the construction of an increasingly cooperative, stable and multilateral regional order.
