ROMULA - With the official swearing-in ceremony held this morning in the solemn setting of Quattroregni Palace, the new government led by Fabrizio Moccia is now fully in office. Bolstered by the resounding vote of confidence obtained two days ago in Congress, the government ushers in a new political era that promises to be marked by bold reforms and a clear shift from the past.

Before the national and international press, the leader of the Democratic Socialists, in his first speech as Minister Secretary of State, took the opportunity to reiterate the ambitious intentions of his government, leaving no room for interpretation:

We are not here to administer the existing system, but to correct the injustices that too many governments have allowed to fester, and to do what others have lacked the courage to do.

The declaration of intent was blunt and direct, and Moccia immediately drew a line of discontinuity, outlining the guidelines of a political project aimed at a profound and systemic transformation of Istalian society, promising radical reforms to address issues and problems that have long remained unanswered. These reforms will address civil rights, welfare, labor policies, and foreign policy. A program that aims to reestablish the social pact between the state and its citizens.

The new government aims to overcome a long period of timid compromises and partial measures regarding LGBT+ rights, and the new Minister-Secretary of State's speech focused on civil rights, with a clear and decisive tone:

The era of lowball compromises and half-measures is over. Only "sweeteners" can no longer be granted while entire categories of citizens continue to live in a regime of formal and substantive inequality.

The government announces that access to the Armed Forces will be open without distinction based on sexual orientation or gender identity, so that all citizens of Istalia can serve and contribute to the defense of the state, and so that every citizen, finally including through military service, can truly earn the sacred right to vote. But it is on the family front that one of the most symbolically and legally significant interventions is expected:

Marriage and adoption will finally be "universal", because the State has no right to distinguish between one love and another, between one parenthood and another.

The legislative intervention, Moccia emphasized, will be accompanied by a cultural campaign that, according to the government, aims to defuse years of stigmatizing and paternalistic narratives.

With even more determination, Fabrizio Moccia promised clear and definitive legislative action on the right to abortion.

Women in Istalia will no longer be forced to hide, to resort to dangerous clandestine procedures, to access what is their right. It is no longer tolerable that the prejudice of a few compromises the health and freedom of so many. The state will no longer impose moralisms, but will protect freedom of choice.

The government intends to introduce legislation that guarantees not only the legal right to voluntary termination of pregnancy, but also the full implementation of this right in every public healthcare facility, combating abusive conscientious objection and ensuring access to services throughout the country.

Furthermore, alongside the legal reform, there will also be a broad educational investment: schools will launch programs in sexual and emotional education "to explain, not prohibit; to protect, not judge".

Moccia's words have already sparked strong reactions, both in government offices and in bars. On the one hand, there is enthusiasm among civil rights organizations and feminist groups, who call the announcement "an epochal change" and "a promise of civilization". On the other, initial opposition is rising among conservatives, religious hierarchies, and traditional and pro-life parenting associations. Rumors also suggest reactions from some sectors of the Armed Forces, who fear a forced politicization of institutions.

But the government, at least for now, seems determined to move forward. Moccia has assured:

We will not retreat an inch, because the State is truly such only when it is capable of protecting everyone, without exception.

From rights, Moccia then moved on to another of the central themes of the new government's political project: a renewed vision of the role of the state: no longer a simple regulator or economic facilitator, but a central player in promoting social equity.

The state is not a business. We are not here to generate profits, but to guarantee dignity.

The program outlined by the Prime Minister calls for strengthening welfare policies and building a more inclusive system capable of offering real opportunities to all citizens, regardless of their social or geographic background. Among the announced priorities are the expansion of measures to support families, universal access to quality public services, and the effective protection of social, economic, and labor rights. Particular attention will be paid to protecting the most vulnerable segments of the population, with the stated goal of "ensuring peace of mind for those who work and dignity for those who have already given".

This framework also includes the revitalization of the constitutional principle of progressive taxation, which the government intends to strictly enforce, reaffirming its intention to restore the tax system's redistributive and social justice function, which, in its view, had been progressively eroded. On this point, Moccia did not mince his words:

The time of giving gifts to the few at the expense of the many is over. Everyone will contribute according to their means.

The Minister Secretary then focused on another priority of the new government, a true electoral highlight of the Alliance for Change: the definition of a comprehensive and modern Workers' Statute, destined to become the cornerstone of Istalian labour law. Its drafting, Moccia has already specified, will be initiated by an inter-ministerial committee, composed of the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Economy, in consultation with the social partners, which aims to redesign the relationship between employers and workers based on equity, safety, and participation. The Statute will guarantee clear rights and effective protections, addressing key issues such as fair wages, workplace safety, gender equality, and combating precarious employment, with particular attention to new forms of employment linked to the digital economy. The role of collective bargaining will also be strengthened, with the stated aim of combating poor work and contractual dumping. "Putting work back at the center means putting people back at the center", stated the Minister Secretary of State, reiterating his desire to promote a culture of work based on dignity, stability, and the social value of everyone's contribution.

On the environmental front, Moccia also announced a decisive shift: the ecological transition will no longer be postponed. Among the initial measures under consideration are interventions aimed at drastically reducing Istalia's dependence on hydrocarbons, through the development of alternative energy sources, the energy upgrading of buildings, and the electrification of public transportation. This will be complemented by policies aimed at mitigating the overall impact of human activities, with integrated plans for air quality, sustainable soil management, and water conservation. Particular attention will be paid to protecting and enhancing Istalia's natural heritage, with the creation of new protected areas, strengthening biodiversity conservation activities, and launching programs for nature-based and eco-sustainable tourism, including in collaboration with local communities. The goal is to combine development and responsibility, restoring the environment to a central role in the country's rebirth.

In his closing remarks, Moccia touched on a clearly central issue for the country, which will also be affected by this change: foreign policy. The Minister Secretary of State explained that his government's international action will be inspired by a profound ethical review of the nation's strategic priorities.

Istalia will no longer be merely a commercial machine hungry for agreements: we intend to build relationships based on shared values, respect for rights, the dignity of peoples, and authentic cooperation between states. But this cannot become, or rather, remain, a compromised silence that, in many cases, even becomes complicit. Istalia, to remain faithful to its values, will focus on strengthening friendship and cooperation with like-minded countries, but this must not be interpreted as the intention of simultaneously raising walls. Dialogue and availability will be guaranteed to all, but I firmly believe that there are situations in which a clear line must be drawn.

From this perspective, two positions mark a partial shift from the recent past: while Moccia reaffirmed his firm opposition to the recognition of the so-called Rildanor National State, in all but its proclamations a state of fascist inspiration, held responsible for serious violations of the democratic order and fundamental rights, unless signals in the opposite direction will come, his openness to the Meriath government, which is therefore a formal recognition, will be conditional upon full confirmation and demonstration of the effective and transparent functioning of democratic institutions and of a legal system based on the state of law that effectively protect the citizens.

Moccia also reiterated that Istalia intends to promote and support international cooperation that places people, communities, the environment, justice, and solidarity at its center, demonstrating his desire to position the country as a point of reference for a new diplomacy based on responsibility and a humanistic vision of international relations.

Finally, in his closing remarks, Fabrizio Moccia, with a firm and expectant tone, sent a clear message to both citizens and institutions, representing a genuine collective call to commitment:

This is the government of change. This is a government of courage, solidarity, and dignity. The time is now: Istalia must change, and it will change!

Expectations are high to see the government's first concrete steps, but the decisive tone and programmatic clarity with which Moccia began his mandate leave little doubt: the intention to transform Istalia into a more just, inclusive, and supportive nation is already underway.
