A New Friend.

Metz-Leonid, Karosawa, Xsampa
---------------------------
Sherab Aurousseau put the cup of tea down gently. She was enjoying the lovely day it was in Metz-Leonid by the cafe. Lovely blue skies, snow capped mountains this time of year. She kept her legs folded over one another, and was collected and calm. On the opposite side of the table lay Shenlha Woekar, Gonpo Jigme and Pema, Assemblymembers and members of the Communist Party of Xsampa. She kept a gentle smile, and spoke softly.
"I understand that my great grandmother was an esteemed member of the CPX, and did a great service to this country. And it's to my understanding that Comrade Pema here, wants my endorsement of lifting the travel ban on Amudim?" Her voice was soft. Confident. Shenlha didn't have a good feeling about it. But, she spoke up first. "That's right Comrade. I know that your family has had strong opinions about Yeudis, especially after what happened to Gurmey Aurousseau. I... We understand if you don't want to endorse it." Her voice was meek, she was expecting an instant rejection. Why would Sherab endorse it? Amudim killed her great grandmother and nuked this city.
Sherab took another sip of tea, whilst Jigme offered his thoughts. "Didn't your great grandmother always advocate for a second chance? The Sunshine Policy? Wouldn't she have supported this?" Sherab gently put the cup down, and countered. "She wouldn't have supported many things. She would've supported many things equally as well. I wish I could say, Comrade. We never even knew if she would've supported Bhutia's reforms. But I'm not her. I'm myself. I agreed to this meeting because truthfully, I want something. I'll gladly endorse the bill. All I want in return, is simply some friends in the CPX. I'm looking to run in '70 and become an Assemblymember. It'll be nice to have friends in the CPX when I do join it."
Shenlha was stunned. She didn't expect it. Just that? Just support? Nothing else? Jigme was stunned too, so Pema took charge and spoke up. "Absolutely. You'll always have a friend in us, both outside of PAX and in the Party. There are some local elections happening around the country, a few in Karosawa, I think the Lenakha Branch could use a candidate. We can fast track you to entering the primaries there if you don't want to keep waiting two years. At the very least, you can start building your strength up in a Local Committee and then become a representative and go to PAX."
Sherab smiled. She was pleased with the offer. And gently nodded. "I think that's perfect. You have my endorsement of the bill. I'll support lifting the travel ban however I can. If I can give the Yeudis a second chance, then Xsampa can too." Shenlha was at a loss for words. The endorsement of Aurousseau, an Aurousseau, a family who's stayed out of politics ever since Gurmey Aurousseau was killed in 5599, endorsing not just any bill, but her bill in particular. That was... Overwhelming. But in the best way possible. She wanted to cry. But she couldn't. Not yet. The endorsement would make it easier to convince districts. Now she had to convince Assemblymembers and the people. As the conversation shifted to casual life and moved away from politics, Shenlha couldn't help but shake the feeling that Sherab would shake the Party heavily. In a good way. Maybe she'd be Premier in the future. Maybe not. But she's a friend. That's for sure.
Sherab looked to the side, after everyone had left. She chose to remain at the cafe for a little longer. Simply taking in the sights. She was pleased with herself. Today was productive. She secured 3 allies in PAX and the CPX, and a route to entering the Local Committee primaries in Lenakha. She didn't mind endorsing the bill to lift the travel ban. Truthfully, the idea of a Yeudi at the Memorial for the Victims of Nuclear War intrigued her. It has been almost 60 years since an Aurousseau had entered politics in Xsampa. Seems soon, that may break. But for now, she simply enjoyed what was left of her tea. Today was productive. And it was a lovely day after all. What's the rush? Her great grandmother didn't rush. Why should she?

"Yet I am here, and here I shall remain to behold the world in all it's beauty"
"The world is but a stage. Why cry, when you can laugh instead? For laughter is humanity's preserve. Laugh it all off, fret not, Let's just enjoy the moment."
