Cise, Utaristan | 4th of January, 5674
16:25
The Marshal was pacing around the room. If everything goes according to the plan, soon it will be over. The President will give his speech soon. And then it will be finished. They will cleanse this country of separatists, communists, fascists, fundamentalists. The Homeland has no place for these trying to divide it, no matter how much they proclaim it's their right.
16:26
The President coughed. "Are you okay sir?". "Of course, I can handle one speech." The truth was, he wasn't sure. Ruling a country gets a number on you, especially if it's 25 years. He thought about what the Old Man once told him, when ceremonially giving him keys to the Palace of Heroes. "You might think that you can do this, rule, forever. But there will be time when the weight of worries of 33 milion people gets you. And then you will be too weak". Maybe the Old Man was right.
16:27
Of course it was never easy, ruling country. But since 5669 it was worse then ever. Maybe he should have done what the Old Man did. Pack it after 8 years. But he knew he knew he couldn't trust anyone else. The entire Party was a den of snakes. He was not sure when it happened. Maybe it was always like this. Rotten rulers for rotten country.
16:28
They should have changed. He realised this years ago. A constitution unchanged for centuries cannot provide for 33 million people, especially one that was written was written in service of the Party-State. He cursed the Old Man for that. But deep down he knew he was guilty too.
16:29
He would do it. He would dissolve the Assembly. And then he would resign. Hopefully the Liberals or the Ahmadi Democrats can provide new hope, new system. Something that his Party failed to do.
16:30
The President stepped on the podium. He looked around him. Behind him was his den of snakes. The so called "Council of Ministers", which has led him to this moment, Though only half of them even bothered to show up. They had that little respect for their President. He looked at the crowd in front of him. "My fellow Citizien-"
16:31
"Long live the revolution! Down with the capitalists! Down with the Westerners!". Explosion.
16:32
The Marshal smiled. It was done. The phone rang. "Sir!"
