Himmelshtern becomes independent City-State while Narikaton and Darnussia reform into Dual Republic

August 5704 marked the beginning of the last months of the Triad Republic and has led to negotiations between the transitional government of Himmelshtern and the "central government" in Bannerhafen under the leadership of President Heinrich Berger (VVP). While the attitude of all participants was friendly and dominated by solidarity, it still took until this month, October, to finalize the so-called "Secession and Future Sovereignty of Himmelshtern Agreement." A lot of issues had to be cleared and discussed, many regarding the future diplomatic relationship between the two sovereign nations as well as naturally predominant concerns such as markets or rather the economy in general.

According to the treaty, Himmelshtern will remain in a market-union with the Dual Republic with all former territories of the Triad enjoying freedom of movement, capital, wares as well as several guarantees for the ease of business. For example both the Dual Republic as well as Himmelshtern promised to respect each other's corporate law and are going to recognize future legally-foreign structures among companies in each others territories. Obviously both also comitted to protecting property rights both material and immaterial in each others territory.

On a security level, the City State of Himmelshtern has agreed to a defensive military alliance with the Dual Republic, while this is more of a symbolic gesture from Himmelshtern, it has still been welcomed by the political elite of Bannerhafen. Realisticly this is more of a security-guarantee from Bannerhafen to the City. This fact is amplified by a side-letter to the treaty; Himmelshtern as a new small nation has agreed to sell 90% of its naval vessels to the Dual Republic as it does not have the ability to finance a navy of the size "it brought into the Triad" alone. Conditional to this side-letter is the Dual Republic's promise to keep at all times at least a skeleton naval presence near or in Himmelshtern and to protect its trade access to both Narikaton and Darnussia. Additionally Bannerhafen has urged Himmelshtern to also join MATO, which has recently been created after a meeting shortly before the referendum in August 5704. Even though Bannerhafen has not yet joined itself due to potential legal complications with dissolution procedure of the Triad being in full-swing it has committed to joining the alliance by January 5705.
