Official statement from the Government of Valruzia regarding the current events in Rildanor

The Republic of Valruzia expresses its deep alarm and condemnation regarding the escalating political situation in Rildanor. The recent suspension of democratic freedoms, the persecution of the region of Meriath, the criminalization of left-wing movements, and the intensifying presence of militarized foreign influence signal not isolated incidents, but a symbol of the clear re-emergence of a fascist threat in Seleya.

In recent months, the Rildanorian authorities have undertaken a series of undemocratic actions (including the proscription of the Communist Party of the Canrillaise Proletariat, the persecution of elected representatives in the region of Meriath and the increased militarization of its domestic affairs) represent a dangerous slide toward authoritarianism. We view these developments as symptoms of a deeper resurgence of fascist tendencies that must be confronted with conviction.

Valruzia, as a nation whose own historical scars from fascist rule remain painfully recent, cannot remain silent in the face of such developments. The memories of censorship, mass arrests and ideological purges under the Valruzian Unitary State are not abstract history. They are still a lived trauma for millions of Valruzians, and a lesson that we are bound to remember and uphold.

Valruzia unequivocally condemns the rise of fascism in Rildanor. The use of power to silence dissent and suppress ideologically inconvenient movements is an affront to democratic principles, and history teaches us that such tactics are precursors to broader abuses of power. 

However, we also voice our categorical rejection of the continued operation of a foreign naval base from Egelion, a clear violation of Rildanorian sovereignty and a dangerous symbol of external interference under the pretense of security. The militarization of the Rildanorian coastline is a direct threat to the stability of the Seleyan continent, and contradicts the principles of peace and non-alignment to which Valruzia is firmly committed. Valruzia reaffirms its commitment to peaceful coexistence, disarmament, and regional sovereignty. While actions of Egelion in defending those in Meriath are loable, that is no excuse to establish military bases in foreign soil.

In response to the growing repression and the threat it poses to vulnerable communities, the Government of Valruzia announces the following:

1. Humanitarian response: Valruzia iis prepared to open its borders to citizens of Rildanor facing persecution, with a special focus on welcoming refugees from Meriath, political dissidents, human rights defenders, and other groups at risk. Our immigration services, in coordination with civil society organizations and international partners, will initiate humanitarian corridors and support mechanisms to guarantee safe passage and dignified reception.

2. Diplomatic action: Valruzia will engage with our international partners, including the Seleyan diplomatic communities, to raise awareness and coordinate a collective response to the breakdown of democratic norms in Rildanor. The Valruzian government is in close contact with the governments of Northern Seleya, including Kalistan, Likatonia, Gaduridos, Tukarali and Baltusia.

3. Clear condemnation of Fascism: Valruzia reaffirms that fascism, in any form – be it religious, ethnic, militarist, or authoritarian – has no place in a modern society. 

In these difficult moments, we stand in solidarity with the people of Rildanor and especially with the residents of Meriath, whose rights are being attacked. We extend our fraternal support to our comrades of the Rildanorian left, many of whom are facing repression merely for upholding ideas of justice and equality.

Valruzia will never forget the dangers of silence in the face of tyranny. Our history compels us to act, and our future depends on it. Valruzia stands in solidarity with the people of Rildanor as a whole, Meriath in particular and with all those resisting the advance of reaction and repression. In this moment of crisis, neutrality is complicity. We will not look away.
