CASINOS MAY OPERATE AGAIN

(If it’s in the Monsoon, it’s got to be true)

Chancellor’s Office, October 27, 5735: Chancellor Salman al-Makhtoum, Defense Minister Nazir al-Sayed and Foreign Minister Abdul Aziz, who ae leaders of Israi Values (IV), the Working Institutional Group (WIG) and the Free Radical Supper Club (FRSC) respectively, met in the Chancellor’s Office to discuss casinos.

Royal Oasis, which once operated the Dromedary, the Bactrian, the Chameau, the Siltan and the Genie resort hotels with casinos, in various ports in Jumhuriat al-Badara, has been asking if the Government would be open to starting casino resorts again.

The Defense Minister suggested the Dufazi was likely to feel obligated to oppose it and the Forgotten Abadis of Majatra (FAM) were likely opposed as well.  The Chancellor felt many IV constituents were against gambling personally but did not oppose citizens having the opportunity.

The Foreign Minister indicated it could be good for the economy and help employment but the FRSC was sensitive to gambling addiction issues. He asked how the oligarchy felt and the Defense Minister said WIG and the oligarchy always liked to see money coming in. He further suggested Metzists of Majatra (MM) really wanted back in government so they would likely back whatever the Dufazi wanted.

Aziz then floated the idea of letting each Muhafasah decide with the suggestion it then be bucked on down to local authorities. He felt sure the result would at least mean opening casinos on Mu’Tassim and maybe pats of the smaller island too.

Monsoon sources say this idea was agreed upon and would be proposed to the Majlis.

DUFAZI SECURE PARAMILITARY DEAL

MANARA  ALBRAYD SRIA AL-MUSAMI
(If it’s in the Monsoon, it’s got to be true)

Defense Command Center, September 17, 5738: The Monsoon has learned there was a meeting at the Defense Ministry of Defense Minister Nazir al-Sayed, leader of the Working Institutional Group (WIG), Bandar al-Qasabi, Director of the General Intelligence Service (GIS) and Narouz ben Bellla, First Secretary of the Dufazi.

The Defense Minister set up the meeting because of persistent speculation that the Metzists of Majatra (MM) wanted to use the talk that the GIS and the military might shut down the Dufazi paramilitary to protect the Dufazi and return to power.

The Defense Minister made it clear his conviction that MM was trying to crush WIG and undermine the military. He was in a position to confirm that there was talk in the Army but that he and the Army Chief of Staff were able and would prevent any hostile action toward the Dufazi paramilitary.

The Dufazi leader indicated he was still in control and as long as the deal to bring Al’Salmania back into the Jumhuriat was still viable he could keep control, but the most important thing to all Dufazi factions was continuing the paramilitary units, and talk of disbanding them made a lot of members very restless.

GIS Director al-Qasabi told the other two of course there was some talk of opposition to paramilitaries in GIS; there always was. And he knew it had become  audible because he was ill and about to retire. So there were elements hoping to change things.  But he could speak for former Director Ivrahim Duqaq that he controlled a majority of the Board of Governors that would soon select a new Director and that the new Director would be committed to preserving the deal GIS made with the Abadi Cleric Moqtada al-Dufaz to end the Civil War in Al’Salmania.

The Monsoon can report there is every reason to believe the three have cemented an alliance between WIG, the Dufazi and GIS.  An alliance hostile to MM.
