[Image: rodriguez.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&w=370&h=204&crop=1]
KalMM CEO Michelle Marks-Bennots addresses public on latest prototype

KalMM, the joint venture between Kalistan and Lourenne's Manon-Maison, announced promising earnings this June.
CEO of KalMM, Michelle Marks-Bennots laid out earnings and reinvestment strategies for the months ahead. After a
very promising summer of sales, KalMM has been aiming for the release of a prototype dubbed "Model X". A full and
appropriate name for the new smart phone is set to release once the phone is ready for individual sales. Employees
at Manon-Maison in Lourenne have been able to pass information to KalMM for the production of modern, up-to-date
smart phones that the firm has been aiming for that can securely broadcast a signal, and make calls via the internet,
as well as allow voice and video conversations, securely store credit card information locally, and allow people to use
apps. These requirements were sent to Manon-Maison Headquarters in Thiers for evaluation and resource availability.
After a thorough search in the company's records, information for long-lasting battery life, secure internet connections,
and excellent voice connection were found and immediately sent to KalM headquarters in Sulari. The data and information
acquired from Manon-Maison in Thiers was given KalMM workers and were applied to the Model X prototype.

This information seemed to impressively set the Model X's release date to be earlier in the year than its original date.
KalMM CEO Michelle Marks-Bennots stated that the "Model X is to be a symbol of what Lourenne and Kalistan can achieve
together. Our new Model X will be a smart phone that will improve Kalistan's and Lourenne's capabilities on the high tech
industry. We are determined to make this smart phone will only be the beginning of our progressive start in the high tech
industry and market. " CEO Michelle Marks-Bennots is set to travel to Thiers in regards to discuss expansion of KalMM into
Lourenne to further expand KalMM's research capability and market.

Kalistan braces for Reactionary GovernmentPresident:  "No good can possibly come from Conservative Government"
Kaliburg, Ananto
October 17, 4449

President of the Republic Reina-Rodriguez addresses the rise of the Conservatives

In what is expected to be an electoral rout next year, President Reina addressed the return of the Conservatives.  "You see, this happens all the time.  Some Party that has been long dead and thought to be swept into the dustbin of history reforms, announces that it will serve as an alternative to socialism, usually declaring allegience to one and only one form of conservatism (see the standard conservative prescription of free markets, no role for the Government in society, treaty withdrawal and religious morality) and proceeds to mop up in elections, for some reason.  It happens all the time.  A successful Government always brings the malcontents out of the wall who are not satisfied to leave well enough alone.  We've weathered this storm before."

The President of the Republic expressed cautious optimism that the Socialist Party will hold onto the majority, but in preparation for a possible loss, the President called for the full restoration of democracy and the explicit abolition of the "Ephemeral Parties" period.  "Naturally, our opposition was to ephemeral Parties using democracy against the Government.  We are opposed to the abuse of the democratic process by Parties with no roots to acquire a temporary majority and use that to attempt to obliterate everything that is Kalistan.  We can't do much about the time warp aspect of Kalistani politics, where old Parties can come back out of nowhere and regain the place they surrendered 50 or 200 years ago as if no time had intervened.  But we can utilize the mechanisms of government to protect the institutions of the nation, and the essential character of the Kalistani Government.  And after a while, when the 'time warp' effect has worn off, we will return once more to the majority, and then set about restoring normalcy after a period of 'time traveler' dominance."

What concerns the President the most is that much of the gains that have been made under careful government tutelage following the Recession will be undone.  "Hopefully the Conservatives don't immediately privatize everything.  No good can possibly come from Conservative Government, but it doesn't have to be exclusively bad.  While we have seen stunning success in both the public and private sectors in the last 5 years, as well as heavy investment from Keymon, Telamon and Lourenne, a sudden whiplash to conservatism will certainly undermine this.  If I could advise the Conservatives on one thing, I would advise moderate reforms, not legislative revolution.  Such radicalism will both undermine the successes of a carefully planned economy, and will be completely undone sooner than later.  A moderate reform course, which also gives socialists a buy in, if far more likely to last, especially if its aim is to not undo socialism, but to improve Kalistan.  We hope the Conservatives heed this advice, for the benefit both of their political agenda, but also for the benefit of the Republic.  And if not, well, we are old pros at undoing damaging policy.'

The President of the Republic will be running for re-election, and said she expects the results to be close.

KalMM announces record profitsKMM Solaris 3's sales top 10 million
Sulari, Suldanor
October 20, 4449

CEO of KalMM says Solaris 3 sales definitively open door for Lourenne expansion

On the heels of blazing hot Solaris 3 sales this summer, KalMM CEO Michelle Marks-Bennots announced that KalMD is ready to launch a KalMM joint investment venture in Lourenne.  "We have been able to demonstrate that the partnership is successful.  Together, Kalistan and Lourenne have put together a profitable product in a sector that did not exist 10 years ago.  As more than 10 million owners know, the Solaris 3 holds its own with every other mobile device currently on the market, and we have been able to announce a significantly price point over the 2.  Profits are at an all time high, and we are prepared therefore to go ahead with our long anticipated launch into Lourenne."

Marks stated that the Solaris 3, which are third generation of the phone initially called the Model X, shows that Kalistani technology can satisfy consumer demands better than imported tech.  "We are using our networks, our batteries our servers and our technology.  And we are exporting enough Solaris 3s now to actually compete internationally with some of the big players.  With solid investment, we have skipped the most expensive aspects of R&D, and have instead sunk the costs into longer battery life and quicker connectivity."

When the Lourenne Government permits the launch of the joint venture, KalMD will supply 49% of the capital and Manon-Maison will put in 51%, thus equalizing out the full investment over both subsidiary branches.  Marks said she expects the new Joint Venture in Lourenne to begin producing Lourennaise tech, and expand on the successful Solaris series into other mobile devices, including tablets, handheld comm devices, augmented reality devices, laptops and other matter.  KalMD factories in Keymon will continue to produce export editions of KalMM tech for the global Market.  KalMD will continue building greater infrastructure within Kalistan and will work with the Lourennaise to continue to develop a greater degree of infrastructure integration between the two nations.

Technological Golden Valley Ready for KalMD
[Image: santa-clara.jpg]
Various Tech firms in Thiers are ready for the arrival of KalMD's expansion.

With complete success in Kalistan, KalMD has reported that it is ready to move to Lourenne after years of success in Kalistan's technology industry. KalMM, the joint conglomerate where Lourenne's Manon-Maison Comm. is involved in, has made huge earnings in the past couple of years with the new Solaris 3. Multiple companies in Lourenne are waiting the expansion of KalMD to the Golden Valley. Manon-Maison Comm.'s public relations executives have explained that "We have held multiple conferences with many of the tech firms in Lourenne. We all ready to receive KalMD in our area. We believe that they can significantly make progress here in Lourenne as the technology field is the biggest Industry here in Lourenne. Firms in the Golden Valley will be looking to cooperate with KalMD and Manon-Maison Comm. in any way they find profitable."

There are multiple office spaces in the Golden Valley that are suitable for a KalMD expansion. Engineers and Architects from the private firm, Delaune-St.Antoine, have concluded that the are at least 5 to 6 open office spaces and manufacturing centers that KalMD can move into. However, there are also many open areas where new facilities can be constructed and be put into use. Officials from Technologie Astéria (Lourenne's Largest Technological Firm) have stated that the company might be interested in the Kalistani expansion, however, they will be focused on their projects in the Fédération de Canrille for the time being. Many more products and services from Manon-Maison Comm. and KalMD are expected to be released as expansion to Lourenne is now highly likely.

KalMM celebrates 2 years of Lourennaise prosperityKalMD looks for further expansion
Thiers, Louives, Lourenne
January 7, 4452

KalMM's Lourenne MFP-2 celebrates its second anniversary this year

KalMM's expansion to Lourenne under the joint venture deal established last decade is deemed a great success.  Now that KalMM is opened in both Kalistan and Lourenne's high tech corridor in Thiers, both subsidiaries are working toward specialization and reduction of redundancies.  The Lourenne arm of the company will focus on research and development, and the Kalistan Arm will focus on implementation and further miniaturization.

KalMM CEO Michelle Marks-Bennots, who has overseen the expansion into Lourenne commented:  "We are focusing heavily on expanding the brand and becoming a leader in things like augmented reality- you know, those little heads up displays that you see some people wearing, that connects you to the net.  Lourenne is a decade or so ahead of Kalistan with regard to R&D of high tech.  It is natural then that their engineers should handle further advancements in technology.  Meanwhile, we are virtually unlimited with regard to production facilities.  There are things we will learn from our Lourennaise colleagues, and there are things we can teach them.  each branch then works to expand services and reduce price point, so that KalMM devices will be the consumer leader in cell phones, tablets, and AR devices, as well as building infrastructure throughout northern Seleya and central Dovani."

KalMM stocks in the Kalsie have enjoyed a fairly steady rise, and have begun paying dividends of 15% with the largest portion of the profits being pumped back into the company in development and stock buybacks.  The conservative fiscal model guarantees KalMM a very long life, slow and even growth, and excellent wages and compensation for workers.  Expansion into Lourenne, and further growth in Kalistan will make the joint venture a strong player in the electronics market for the foreseeable future.

KalMD to seek FDI from Indralan Firms"Future is in Online Sales", says CEO
Sulari, Suldanor
September 7, 4452

KalMD CEO Tashunke-Washte to visit Indrala to discuss online sales

Kalistani Microdivisions CEO, Vivian Tashunke-Washte announced plans to begin work with Indralan tech firms to grow the business into the area of online sales.  Said Tashunke at August's stockholders meeting:  "We have exciting new opportunities to expand our operations into a new sector of the Kalistani Economy.  The future is in online sales.  As our infrastructure continues to standardize and expand, and more and more people have access to the net via cell-phones and hand held devices, the next step has always been to give them something to do with these phones.  In this way, the recession cleared the way for new growth and new opportunities in new sectors that the old Kalistan never dreamed of.  And KalMD is leading the way."

According to Government Spokesmen in the Foreign Ministry, The State of Indrala has approached Kalistan with opportunities to cooperate with Indralan firms in making this launch.  "We will review the various aspects of the market leaders in Indrala, and move from there.  Naturally, this will be yet another opportunity to spin off and create yet another brand under the KalMD umbrella.  Once the Indralan firms make their pitch in Kalistan, KalMD will utilize its significant liquidity and will begin working with them to develop a new brand that will offer shoppers consumer goods at their finger tips.  It is a new day in Kalistan."

The negotiations are in their earliest phases, but KalMD's shareholders were excited by the news of expansion.  Both KMD and KMM shares were up once more in the Kalsie with the KMD index rising to 1.79 and the KMM index up to 2.1.  Ripple effects were felt in other areas, as the Nationalized Industry KalNaTexCo also saw a slight bump in prices, up .23 points over yesterday's closing.  Analysts are convinced that expansion in the Textile Corporation is due to greater expectation of online sales of fabrics and clothing once KMD spins off.

Conservatives Abolish National ServiceNational Industries take a Dive in Kalsie
Kaliburg Ananto
10 October 4455

Investors rush to divest in National Industries as Conservatives Eliminate Half the Labor Market in One vote

"This is the disgusting result of neophyte government in Kalistan."  Were the only words offered by the President of the Republic as the Conservative Government under Premier Maddie Kendall joined with the so-called "Reform Party" to abolish half of the labor Market in a single vote.

The vote, known as the "National Service Abolition Act of 4454" took effect in April of this year.  By early May the effects were obvious.  The result of the bill was the ending of the National Service Program, and suddenly 8.5 million 22-26 year olds flooded into the job market.  The act also had the effect of essentially eliminating the Public Sector in Kalistan.  Effects in the Kalsie were immediate:  Nationalized Industry Stocks dropped through the floor, and all nationalized industry, including oil, natural gas, steel, fabric, drug and pharmaceutical production has virtually ceased since May.  Additionally, the bureaucracy, which had been entirely staffed by the NSP, as well as schools, libraries, national Bank branches, universities, and infrastructure maintenance has ceased to function.

Leading Kalistani economist Frederick Everett said this:  "We have once more entered recession, as we have now passed a quarter of negative economic growth.  We have no police on the streets, schools and government offices are closed, and nothing is working.  We are already seeing shortages throughout the economy in everything from fuel and therapeutic drugs to clothing and road maintenance.  Luckily we are not a crime prone society, but the lack of public sector workers of any sort will be felt for years."

"Abolition of the National Service Program without any sort of corresponding effort to privatize anything but media, or even prepare for any reprocussions to a society which was based on equal parts public and private sector functions shows that Conservatives lack even the slightest appreciation for anything beyond their own tunnel vision ideology," said Foreign Minister George Foreal, the highest ranking Socialist in Government.  "The President of the Republic has asked for the Socialist Party's Ministers to resign from the Government, and we have agreed.  We cannot possibly serve with these destroyers."

The Kalsie Index has gone from a high of 152 in Early April to 83 in October.  The Kalistani Economy is in shambles, and the fault lay at the feet of the Conservative Government.

Socialist Protestors Shut Down CapitalSocialist Militia, Serving as Police, Arrest Three Vandals
Kaliburg, Ananto
November 7, 4455

Socialists and former NSP members protest the incredibly unpopular policies of the ruling Conservative Majority

Ahead of this January's Elections, agitated Socialists have taken to the streets to protest the massive economic dislocations caused by Conservative mismanagement of the Nation.

"We don't know if we'll win the coming election, but we can only hope that the Conservatives do not win it.  The President was right:  Nothing Good could possibly come of a Conservative Majority," said Danny Edwards, of Dahriel, who traveled to Kaliburg to join the Protests.

"What can we do?" said Suldanor Native Gina Hernandez.  "Since I'm about to turn 22, I'm going to go join the Militia.  Its the least I can do:  Hopefully they'll put me to work teaching, or trying to keep the country afloat somehow, until we can get rid of this rotten government."

Youth protestors who have found their economic futures pulled out from under them by spiteful, malicious policies of the Ruling Conservatives have taken to the streets, and have literally shut down the Capital. A Conservative voter named Max Jones said, "Ah these stupid kids:  What they need to do is get out of the way and go get a job.  Its hard enough to drive around here with all the gas shortages, now I have to waste what little I have waiting for a five mile long procession to pass in front of me.  These Socialists are just the worst, always begging for things.  What about me?  What about my job?  I was just laid off last month because of the way these Socialists have totally mismanaged things for centuries."  When asked if things were working better before, Jones said, "Yeah, the dual Economy and the National Service Program were great.  But I'm a tax payer, and don't think I should have to pay for anyone else.  I did my time."

Elements of the Revolutionary Socialist Militia of Kalistan, who were ordered to fill in for Public Sector workers who were fired when the NSP was abolished, served as security for the protest.  Said Captain Dante Carrangus, "We had to break up some altercations, mostly frustrated people who were upset about how much the protests were disrupting their lives throwing things at the kids.  We have reports of some localized vandalism of private businesses, and we've taken three students into custody for that matter.  There is also one instance of a shuttered NSP office being set on fire.  We're still looking into that one, but its safe to say, we are not police detectives, so it is unlikely that that will ever be resolved.  We were luckily able to put the blaze out.  But again, we also aren't firefighters, so I'm just hoping that nothing more serious happens."  Carrangus was asked how the Militia is being paid, now that the NSP was abolished.  "We aren't, I mean, we aren't making more than we did before.  Its only a few bucks, but I got guys who have been out of work for 5 months now, and what little the militia pays, that's enough for them to maybe feed their family and make bills.  Thank god they didn't abolish the UBI!"

The Protests are expected to continue throughout the week, raising tensions in the capital between the Youth protesting the meanspirited votes of the Conservative Majority, and the citizens of Kaliburg whose lives are being disrupted by the Protests.

"Hell," said Olga Gottmundsdottir.  "What else is there to do?  They cancelled the NSP and sent us all home.  I have some money saved up, but good luck finding a job.  I may as well come out here and protests.  I'm not doing anything else with my life anymore.

Kalsie quiet on heels of New Promise to restore NSPSocialists agree to rejoin the Government; Kalistani Motors opens for business
Kaliburg, Ananto
April 7, 4456

Hashimoto prepared to return to Premiership of the Republic in new deal to Restore NSP

The Kalsie, Kalistan's stock exchange is quiet this month, despite taking a beating over the last year due to shortsighted policies of the Conservative Government, and resulting yearlong shut down of the Public Sector.  The Socialists stepped in in October and partially reopened the Public Sector using Militia forces to supply desperately needed man power, and the Militia activation will continue until the NSP is restored, and restaffed.

The quick action by the Socialists resulted in more seats in the Assembly in January, but Maria Reina Rodriguez lost the Presidency in a resounding loss, as voters blamed the Socialists, at least Partially for the end of the NSP.  Following the election, the jittery Kalsie began to smooth out, and the bottom of the economic crisis appears to be hit.  The Kalsie hit its low on January 4th of this year, with the index sitting at 67.34, representing a loss of a third of the wealth in Kalistani corporations from its opening 13 years ago.  Since early May of last year, as the Militia absorbed more than 750,000 of the approximately 8.5 million members of the NSP which were suddenly thrown onto the Job market and promptly put them to work attempting to ensure that vital national operations did not cease to function, even if on a skeleton crew level, investors slowly came back to National Industrial stocks.  Late this March, as a compromise Government Bill and a promise to re-establish the NSP seemed in the works, the Kalsie rose to 72.19, and recovery seems to be in the offing.

The new Conservative President of the Republic, Coby Collingwood was quick, following the elections, to offer a new Government bill with moderate Socialist Abe Hashimoto as Premier.  The effort to bring Socialists back into Government "reflects commitment to the institutions of the Presidential Prerogative and Separation of Powers, and inspires confidence in both the Government and the economy," Hashimoto reflected.  Hashimoto added that once the Government bill passes, talks with both Indrala and Lodamun will be reopened concerning investment.  "We were in the midst of negotiations with the State of Indrala to acquire investment to expand the National Shipyard in Kaliburg, and were on the verge of concluding a deal to help Lodamun built a new deepwater port and Naval Facility on their North Eastern Coast.  The Abolition Act put a screeching halt to that, but it appears now that the Conservatives wish to work to rectify the problem, so I've reauthorized cooperation with the Conservatives in the Governance of the Country."

Kalistani Motors, the remnants of the old National Motor Company, has officially reopened for business at the beginning of this month

In other news, remnants of the old KALNAMOCO, which was divested in 4441 during the last economic crisis, have finally been completely divested, and reorganized into Kalistani Motors.  Kalistani Motors, listed under the Stock Symbol KMC, has two divisions:  Automotive and Aircraft.  It intends to reopen the old KalNaMoCo plant and begin producing Mocos again, which were popular among the RF subculture three decades ago, and plans to open an aircraft factory in Odufaray in early 4458, which will build aircraft for domestic and export sales.  Initial Stock offerings place the value of the company at more than 16 billion Rubles, and as such, makes the Kalistani Motors the second most valuable publicly traded private sector firm in Kalistan, behind KalMD.

Kalistani Motors releases MOCO C-XVConcept Coupe tests limits of City MPG
Eshar Odufaray
November 30, 4456

The new MOCO C-XV, from Kalistani Motors aims at breaking the 38 mpg barrier

Designers at Kalistani Motors have released a new concept car with the aim of shredding the orthodoxy concerning Gasoline Engines.

Spokeswoman Katie Reynolds said at a press conference following the unveiling of the MOCO C-XV, KM's first concept car, "Kalistani Engineers have been struggling with this problem for years:  The vast majority of fuel efficiency is lost in the form of heat.  This problem was resolved by the development of electric and hybrid cars.  But all gas engines were, themselves, entirely limited by the 38 mpg barrier:  If you want to have a car that operates with the amenities that modern consumers expect in their cars, you had to sacrifice fuel efficiency.  But not anymore.  The MOCO C-XV is a full featured coupe which has been demonstrated to operate under normal conditions with a mileage rating of more than 60 miles per gallon, something that even the most efficient hybrids struggle to meet."

How does this coupe perform so well?  Reynolds described new technological advances which captured most of the engine's heat and returned it to the engine rather than allowing it to escape as superheated gas out the exhaust.  The returned heat for its part operates an electric power plant that operates the car.  So the gasoline which is used in the vehicle serves only to recharge the powerplant.  In this way, heavy batteries, gas usage and exhaust is significantly reduced, and the automobile performs as well as a standard gas engine, with much higher fuel economy.

"We have adapted heat cells that are designed to greatly reduce the weight of the vehicle.  Consequently, on the highway, you will see MOCOs traveling hundreds of miles on a single tank of gas, which is a mere 3 gallon tank, I might ad.  In the city, when coasting is not as reliable, and the engine remains active more often, fuel economy of more than 60 miles to the gallon is already a reality.  All while maintain heated seats, a full sound system, automatic doors, windows, remote start system, and so forth that consumers love in their cars.  We intend to begin building all MOCOs with this powerplant beginning in 4467."

The MOCO C-XV concept car is not for general sale, however, MOCO coupes built on this technology and this look will be the first to roll off the Company's new assembly line in the coming year.  New MOCOs are expected to begin selling at around 56,000 Rubles, which makes them fairly affordable even for the working class.  KM intends to create a coupe version, followed by a four door sedan.  When asked if there will be an SUV with this new engine technology included, Reynolds said flatly, "No.  We will not make an SUV."
