CP Reform in Kalistan
#1
Currently, Enskalan is the third largest cultural influence in Kalistan. This was left over from a Basque interlude which was originally intended as a retcon of previous Culture. But the RP was ultimately sidelined, and then more or less ignored (though I still include it as part of the Cannon in the Hall of Continuity because it overlapped with the restoration RPs I did which I didn't want to get rid of.

So I want to propose a change to the CP. Currently it states

Kalistani / 91%
The following cultures influence the "Kalistani Ethnic Identity" in the following quantities (roughly speaking):
(Artanian Based)
» Luthori (British/English)- 29%
» Pensio (Spanish)- 21%
» Enskalan (Basque)- 17%
» Istalian (Italian)- 10%
» Canrillaise (French)- 8%
» Narik (Dutch) 4%
» Dundorfian (German)- 2%

I would think that bringing it more into line with West Coast NA would have Dundorfian influence be higher than 2 percent and Enskalan influence being way less than 17 percent, so I propose just swapping those two, leaving Hispanic influence as the close Second biggest influence and the making the Germanic influence be third. This will preserve the Basque at 2%, which I have never done anything with anyway, to explain the Enskalan interlude in the Hall of Continuity, and then make way more sense why literally nobody in the country has a Basque name, but lots of folks have germanic names.

Honestly I'm surprised the Enskalans are still a thing in Kalistan, and I really like your proposed changes. Also the RL equivalent for Basques now is Lurrian, unless the ones in Kalistan have developed a distinct identity over time?

I would say the only reason they are enskalan is because the RP was that they were an ancient society in Kalistan. I assumed the Kal was the root. I don't have any reason to keep the name, except that that was what it was referred to in several of Red's articles and a few of mine. I didn't fully retcon the RP, but instead, just worked a reaction into the story when I took the place back over. but I would say there is no reason we wouldn't have Basque refugees, especially after the recent RP in Kundrati around halting cultural erasure of the Lurrian identity

I'd be open to suggestions. I have no stake in the question and can either keep it as it was for the sake of RP continuity, or change it for the sake of cultural continuity. It's easy to do either way.

Maybe over last few decades more and more Enskalans begun to refer to themselves as Lurrians, in most part because of sympathy for Extea?

If we went that way, they might call themselves Lurrian specifically to undermine the efforts to eradicate that identity in Kundrati and Etxea. Like "You may have had forced breeding between Delics and Lurrians in Kundrati in an effort to eradicate the Lurrian identity, but we're keeping it real here in Kalistan. So the Legion failed to do even that." And then have the Kalistani Lurrians be to the Kundrati Lurrians what the Louisiana Cajuns are to the French.

That could be a great angle.
