On the Failures of Dogmatic Old Socialism and the Need for a Pragmatic New Socialism
RESPECTED TEACHER YURI BITNARI

Combat Dogmatism!

Comrades, this is the order of the day.

Why has our movement, the victorious socialist movement of July 27, declined with every consecutive generation? Pestilence where where was once prosperity, rot where there was once life, stagnation instead of revolution.

The Workers Party has been swallowed for decades by an unwavering, unflexible dogmatism that has choked the creative minds of the workers and peasants. This must be ended. Going forward, New Socialism, the true and genuine socialism, must be implemented for the welfare of the people and whole state and nation.

Consqeuently, the Workers Party has resolved hereby to undergo a Constitutional Convention to resolve the contradictions eating away at the foundation of our state. We submit the following proposals for the approval of the People:

I. - REUNIFICATION FIRST-ISM (의주일제 일통남북)
The supreme goal of the state, above all, is the peaceful reunification of the North and South of Dranea. The pursuit of socialism and communism must come secondly to the primary identification of the Kyo people, which is not with communism but with Dranea the fatherland itself. The North and South of Dranea are one nation with two systems that can coexist peacefully under a Kyo state.

II. OUR PEOPLE FIRST-ISM (의주일제 족민 리우)
The Kyo people of the occupied South of Baeguk are citizens of the DPRD. They enjoy the full protection and rights of the Republic. Furthermore, peaceful reintegration into the united Dranea will be the key aspiration of the peaceful reunification policy.

III. NEW DEMOCRATISM (의주중민신)
The political aspirations of the Kyo people are in the state and not any individual party. To achieve the maximum representation of the people in a representative socialist society, party favoritism and vanguardism must be replaced by a multi-party system of free association.

IV. NEW ASSOCIATIONISM (의주사결신)
Above state interest is the rights of the people to the freedom of speech, of political expression, of association, and of the press, provided they are in concert with the harmony of socialist society and pose no credible danger to the Republic.

V. ECONOMIC LIBERATIONISM (의주방해 적제경)
The new, creative application of socialist morals and economics must be implemented in a flexible manner following the real material conditions of Dranean society rather than the dogmatic predetermined prognostics of Metzist prophecies.

Let us fully implement the Five Revolutions of New Socialism for a brighter future in the whole of Dranea!

Long Live New Socialism!
Long Live Victory!
Long Live People's Dranea!

Stunning New North Baegukese Constitution Paves Way to Mutli-Party Democracy,  Ends Party-State Rule
North Baeguk's Armed Forces now swear loyalty to the state, not the party. The new Constitution also removed all references to 'Communism' and reinstated articles calling for Peaceful Reunification, which had been stricken under Buyeo Bitnaeri.

March 15, 5727

Almost 80 years of exclusive one-party rule in North Baeguk are set to end this year following the passage of the new Constitution of the Democratic People's Republic of Dranea in the National People's Congress. The NPC's approved draft signals an unspeakably massive shift in the governing institutions and philosophy.

Most notably, the Workers Party's dictatorship over power will be replaced by a de jure multi-party system. Their control of the security forces and armed forces have been transferred to the state government. Additionally, communism has been replaced by peaceful North-South Reunification as the ultimate goal of the government.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

- Peaceful Reunification has become the "paramount goal" of the state

Sections referencing the "total eradication of hostile forces", a thin veil for the Southern government, have been replaced with new text calling for peaceful reunification of Baeguk at all costs.

Chapter I, Section II, Article I of the old constitution:
The paramount goal and supreme aim of the DPRD is the total eradication of hostile forces and unreconcilable reactionary foes, and the liberation of the working people for socialist construction and the realization of a communist utopia free of the state, class, money, and the exploitation of man by man.

Chapter I, Section II, Article I of the new constitution:
The paramount goal and supreme aim of the state will be the peaceful and mutually beneficial reunification of the Kyo people into a single Dranean nation. The Kyo nation of Dranea, which encompasses the entire Dranean Peninsula, will be one territory and one people united through peaceful means of consensus and reconciliation. The liberated working people will be guaranteed rights and happiness in a democratic society free from oppression.

- Socialism no longer central

Sections mentioning the socialist control economy have been edited or deleted.

- The President and State, not the General Secretary and Party, control the army and security forces

Chapter III, Section I, Article IV of the old constitution:
IV. The Kyo People's Army, the protectors of the socialist revolution, report directly to the Workers Party of Dranea.
V. The General Secretary of the Workers Party of Dranea is the commander in chief of the Kyo People's Army.

Chapter III, Section I, Articles IV-V of the new constitution:
IV. The Kyo People's Army, the armed forces of the entire Kyo people and Dranean nation, swear their total and absolute allegiance and fealty to the State Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Dranea.
V. The President of the DPRD is the commander in chief of the Kyo People's Army and the State Security Forces.

- No political party is guaranteed power

The WPD has lost its constitutional monopoly on political power.

Chapter II, Section IV, Article III of the old constitution:
The Workers Party of Dranea commands a leading role in the administration of the state in perpetuity. The Workers Party is vested with supreme political authority by the revolutionary masses.

Chapter II, Section IV, Article I of the new constitution:
The Kyo people have the right to elect their own officers of the state, to form political unions, and to express their political freedoms. No provision shall be made granting special privilege or potency to a specific political party.

- All mentions of 'Communism' have been stricken

The word Communism is no longer found anywhere in the constitution.

- The Chairperson of the State Affairs Commission will be replaced by "The President"

The post of Chairperson has been replaced with the title of President, and unlike the former post, the latter will be directly elected by national popular vote.

PM Yoon Faces Increasingly Polarized Praise, Criticism as Historic North-South Summit in Taejeon Nears
As Baeguk watches the North's sudden warm shift with a mix of anticipation, hope, and fear, the Prime Minister has the difficult task of rallying southern local political support during his negotiations with the reforming Communist state

Prime Minister Yoon Haneul has the stressful task of managing this new, exciting but chaotic phase of inter-Baegukese relations with the reforming North, while being fiercing criticized by anti-communist hardliners in the Hwabaek, mainly members of the Hungu Faction. The Yoon government has agreed to a North-South diplomatic summit in the city of Taejeon, to be hosted by the South.

Taejeon, once Ryudo, was chosen as a potent reminder of the two side's painful history of separation and unification. Taejeon is the local capital of Haegi province, currently split in half between the Kingdom and the north. It was chosen as the new capital of the recently unified Kingdom of Great Baeguk in the 9th century, away from Gongmangdo, due to its' central proximity to both the south and north of the peninsula. For centuries Taejeon was the capital of a united Baeguk before Emperor Bokjong ultimately returned to Gongmangdo. Taejeon has remained designated as the "Western Capital" (Seogyeong) since.

It is expected that PM Yoon will discuss patrols of the demilitarized zone, armament control, communications centers, and even potential economic cooperation with President Yuri. The DMZ, one of the longest fortified borders in Terra, has always been a worrisome potential spark for conflict, exponentially worsened under the previous regime when Buyeo Bitnaeri cut off lines of communication and remilitarized much of the border. It is hoped that warming relations may prevail to re-establish lines of communication and partially disarm, with optimists even suggesting a peace treaty formally ending the Second Baegukese War.

MOA Deputy Minister Heukchi becomes first Royal Official in North since the War

5728.7.27. - TAEDO -

Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Official Affairs, Heukchi Eunwoo, became the first royal official to set foot in the streets of Taedo, North Baeguk, today. He arrived as part of a government delegation to attend the 80th Anniversary Festivities of the North Baegukese government.

The visit came after President Yuri invited the government of PM Yoon to attend their National Foundation Day last year, during the highly televised North-South Baegukese summit in Taejeon. At the historic summit, it was agreed that South Baegukese companies would invest in the Sinsu Special Economic Zone, a stretch of land around the large city of Sinsu in northern Haegi province. Select roads of transport would be opened between the two nations, and although carefully monitored, would permit the transfer of goods and people between the two states. This historic milestone marks the first time since the end of the war almost 80 years ago that goods and citizens will be legally able to travel between the two sides. A "red telephone" allowing instantaneous communication between the KGB PM and DPRB President was also reached, reconnecting high-ranking communications since the last DPRB government.

PM Yoon and the MOA Minister, His Grace Crown Prince Baek Minjun, declined to attend, likely as conservative and anti-communist political groups would fiercely repudiate a Prime Minister who celebrated the anniversary of the Third Kyobando Revolution, a national tragedy for the Kingdom and Monarchy. For security reasons, The Crown Prince would also be potentially at risk if he travelled to the North.

The sight of Southern and Northern officials side by side at the large communist military parade earned mixed reactions. The 80th Anniversary Parade was the largest in Northern history, featuring extensive displays of military might and political loyalty to their President. Many conservative Tories of the Hungu Faction called the display of the Whig Party-led Yoon government "extremely disrespectful to His Majesty the Maripgan", given that the northern national foundation day celebrates their illegal and treasonous treachery against the crown. Proponents of reproachment insist that such sacrifices must be made to ingratiate the North into further union with the Kingdom.

Nonetheless, for the first time in decades it seems as if peaceful reunification around President Yuri's proposed "one nation two systems" model may finally be in grasp in the coming decade. Time will tell.

Second Historic North-South Inter-Baegukese Summit Aims to Partially Demilitarize the DMZ, Boost Southern Investment
South Baeguk's Prime Minister Yoon Haneul landed in Taedo to negotiate with North Baeguk's Yuri Bitnari
Author: Ima Fayghote
June 23, 5729

A little under 2 years after the first successful North-South Inter-Baegukese Summit, PM Yoon has arrived in Taedo to talk with President Yuri Bitnari over increased ties across the peninsula. Prime Minister Yoon echoed his previous concerns over arms control and artillery concentration in the Baegukese DMZ, mentioning that all future neogitations will be contingent on the willingness of the Kyo People's Army to partially disarm and lower the intensity of patrols and fortifications on the highly guarded border between the two states.

President Yuri previously stated in her first year in power that separate borders were neccessary to safeguard northern independence, but has since sang a different tune and declared the North amenable to partial disarmament in preparation for eventual peaceful unification. The South has always felt militarily threatened and vulnerable to Communist attacks, as the North largely possess the terrain advantage of controlling more territory and most of the high points of the Jungang mountain range.

Crucial to these talks will also be the matter of economic investment in the North. The establishment of the Sinsu Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) in 5727 was a massive boon to the flailing Northern economy, as it offered an influx of foreign goods and expertise as well as a significant foreign cash reserve injection into the North.

The North is rapidly reforming in an attempt to stave off institutional and economic collapse. Years of failed attempts to revamp the economy, economic mismanagement, authoritarianism, and communist rot have left the North Baegukese economy. Many analysts suspect that one of the main drivers of the North's rapid reforms and push towards reconciliation is the pragmatic need to balance their books, something the wealthier South can provide.

In return for further investment, it is likely South Baeguk will demand increased access to Northern markets and greater freedom of movement and volume of importation and labor travel. A huge draw of Southern companies to invest in the SSEZ has been the competitive and hard working proletarians of the North, who can be employed for longer hours in worse conditions with less protections and far less pay than Southern employees. Furthermore, due to the desperation of Northern consumers to acquire both basic needs and luxury goods from the South, they form a significant new market to exploit.

If PM Yoon and President Yuri can agree on terms of DMZ disarmament and further economic cooperation, it may yet signal that reunifciation is soon to come.

Third Inter-Baegukese Summit Sees President Yuri, His Majesty the Maripgan Meet as Confederation Appears Likely
With reapproachment's pace hastening, many forsee a future Confederation between the North and South as all but inevitable

President of the Democratic People's Republic of Baeguk, Yuri Bitnari, today became both the first sitting North Baegukese leader to visit Gongmangdo during their reign, and even more crucially also became the first to be entertained in personal audience with His Majesty the Maripgan.

There remains much conflict and unresolved history between the two sides, as the North still officially oppose the institution of the monarchy. However, the meeting of the Maripgan with President Yuri assured observers that both sides elevate the cause of Baegukese nationhood above themselves, and that the North and South will work to nonetheless achieve further cooperation in the future.

President Yuri and her counterpart PM Yoon Haneul are expected to discuss the details of a joint Confederation throughout this summit.

Buyeo Dynasty Reinstated as "People's Committee on the State of Emergency" Stage Apparent Coup in Taedo
Crisis has erupted in the DPRD amidst President Yuri's visit to the third North-South Inter-Baegukese Summit in Gongmangdo
Author: Ima Fayghote
October 22, 5730

Taedo and the DPRD were declared under martial law this morning as tanks rolled down the alleys of the DPRD capital, completely throwing many analysts into panic and despair. A group of National People's Congress officials calling themselves the "People's Committee on the State of Emergency" (PCSE) led by NPC Premier Go Roun gave a televised speech declaring the DPRD to be in a state of emergency as the result of President Yuri's treachery and conspiracy with the Southern Maripgan, the monarch of the South. They seemed to have the support of local military and security forces, managing to disband the NPC indefinitely and rule by fiat.

Apparently using the summit in Gongmangdo as an opportunity, the PCSE has elevated Buyeo Bomsori, deceased dictator Buyeo Bitnaeri's younger sister, to the position of Supreme Leader of the Salvation Government.

If Buyeo's coup succeeds, she will reinstate her family's political dynasty in the country, potentially ending the brief experimentation with multi party socialist democracy the nation has undertaken under the leadership of President Yuri.

SHOTS FIRED IN BAEGUK
As North Baeguk is thrown into a political crisis following the partial military/communist hardliner ouster of their President while she was visiting Gongmangdo, shots have been fired across the Baegukese DMZ as conflicting reports assign blame and advance to both the Southern and Northern sides of the conflict.

Analysts are unsure if the new hardline communist coup government in Taedo ordered the strikes, and, if so, how much support they actually have within the fractured Kyo People's Army. As for the South, whether they respond purely in defense or begin to cross the border and invade the north is unknown.

It appears that these times mark the beginning of the Second Baegukese War.
