SHOTS FIRED IN BAEGUK  
As North Baeguk is thrown into a political crisis following the partial military/communist hardliner ouster of their President while she was visiting Gongmangdo, shots have been fired across the Baegukese DMZ as conflicting reports assign blame and advance to both the Southern and Northern sides of the conflict.

Analysts are unsure if the new hardline communist coup government in Taedo ordered the strikes, and, if so, how much support they actually have within the fractured Kyo People's Army. As for the South, whether they respond exclusively in defense or begin to cross the border and invade the north is unknown.

It appears that these times mark the beginning of the Second Baegukese War.

Yesterday saw the vicious and completely illegitimate attempt to destroy the Republic by anti-Kyo forces under the insidious name of the so-called "People's Committee on the State of Emergency". This shameful display of cowardice, treachery, and deviance has been laid bare before all Terra as a complete farce devoid of all baseness or righteousness.

The usurpers have betrayed the Kyo nation, their evil designs and machinations will have no end as they endeavor to destroy the foundations and very livelihoods of our people. Whereas, the present situation has forced my hand to resolve completely and utterly to totally destroy the hostile anti-Republic forces to their last cursed man.

The Presidential Authority of the Democratic People's Republic of Dranea calls on all units of the Kyo People's Army to fully organize in their capacity in decisive struggle to land a fatal blow to the traitors. Remembering their loyalty and pledge in the constitution to the Office of the President, to the glory and the authority of the Republic, we shall surely prevail over the usurpers!

Declaration of the Authorization of Lethal Force to Protect Subjects of the Crown in the Sinsu Special Economic Zone (SSEZ)

Holy Gaoic Emperor, Supreme Vicar of the Celestial City, Baegukese Maripgan, Grand Sovereign of Changtae, Potentate Son of Heaven, His Imperial Majesty the Jeonghwa Emperor decrees the following:

WHEREAS We, the Maripgan of Baeguk, are the rightful sovereign of all 50 million Baegukese under Heaven and the sole and complete legitimate ruler of every inch of the Dan Peninsula,

WHEREAS in the Jeongyu Year (年酉丁) of the 4th Heavenly Stem and the 10th Earthly Branch in the 7949th year of Danseon's reign We did convene with the Governor of the Three Northern Provinces (道三北) and decree the creation of the Sinsu Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) for the creation of wares and the free transgress of all Royal subjects,

WHEREAS a usurper army has gathered in Taedo and declared their despicable intent to threaten the harmony of Our lands and Our subjects in Our dominion,

WHEREAS the Royal Army is not presently stationed inside the SSEZ but is now compelled to as the result of insurgent insolence,

WHEREAS this rebel rabble must be pacified for the safety and security of Our subjects,

WE DECREE THAT the forces of the Royal Army of Baeguk be ordered immediately to the Sinsu Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) to ensure and uphold the harmony and tranquility of Our loyal subjects and the integrity of the Throne,

THAT the Royal Army be given total and complete authorization to engage in all acts of warfare and to use lethal force whenever and wherever necessary to protect Our Kingdom,

THAT the Royal Army be given all authority to enforce the Civil Code of the Kingdom of Great Baeguk in her northern territories in Our name and blessing,

THAT it shall be considered an Act of War if the Royal Army are attacked and compelled to defend themselves by force while rightfully protecting any territory of Our dominion,

South Baegukese Gov. Confirms Soldiers have Moved into North Baegukese Territory

Conflicting reports came out of North Baeguk yesterday suggesting that South Baeguk had deployed its armed forces to invade the North. Today the KGB government published a Royal Decree confirming that KGB soldiers had been directed to secure the Sinsu Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) and station themselves in North Baeguk-administered territory.

The South claims it is not an invasion but the mere defense of the KGB's sovereign territory, as Gongmangdo continues to press its claim of being the sole legitimate government of the Dan Peninsula. Footage smuggled internationally from Baeguk despite the information blackout on both ends showed what appeared to be southern soldiers marching into the streets of Sinsu and capturing key locations while lifting the Ilwolgi, South Baeguk's war ensign. Rumors of Kyo People's Army and DPRD Border Control deaths abound, but are unverified at the moment. 

The two Baeguks agreed to dismantle the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) partially between them among a select stretch of the border in 5727, allowing legal and sanctioned human migration. This led to a civilian-crossable border, albeit tightly controlled by both powers on their respective ends of the borders, at multiple Joint Security Areas (JSAs) along the line demarcating the split of Baeguk's northwestern Haegi Province, which has been administered at different ends by the two regimes. 

The southern military, which was on increasingly high alert for the last months due to instability and rapid reform in the North under its' now jeopardized policies of "New Socialism", had been developing renewed and revised contingency plans for a new South-North conflict. It is difficult to know yet, but the South are believed to be in possession of all JSAs at the time of publication.

Fellow citizens and comrades of the Republic,

Through these difficult times I am patiently and humbly beseeching you for your loyalty not only to me and the Presidential Authority, but to our entire peninsula as a united and single people. After constructive talks with the Administration of the Three Southern Provinces of the Democratic People's Republic of Dranea, I ask for your full cooperation and heed of the Royal Army as they coordinate with our security and military forces to secure our Fatherland against anti-Republic forces.

We are in the process of forming a joint command for the military action of the Allied Forces, but in the meantime I ask every loyal citizen of the Republic to fully cooperate with the entry and administration of southern peacekeeping forces as they assist the Kyo People's Army in defeating the rebel insurgents who have taken over Taedo. The Administration of the DPRD's Three Southern Provinces have assured me that they will fight with the Presidential Authority and our administration totally and completely as allies in order to secure the peace of our land.

Together, the Allied Forces of the Republic and the Administration of the Three Southern Provinces will surely best and totally defeat the criminal usurpers of the illegitimate bandit insurrection!

Permanent Ban and Dissolution of the Activities of the Workers Party of Dranea

Fellow citizens and comrades of the Republic,

The Workers Party of Dranea was born of a great and glorious idea; the liberation of the whole peninsula and the creation of a Democratic Republic of, for, and by the people. It is with tragedy we must face the fact that the Party has become the worst nightmare of its revolutionary and heroic founders.

Completely abandoning the principles of disciplined Scientific Socialism, of Dialectical Materialism, of Democratic Centralism, the party has been twisted beyond recognition and hijacked by a cabal of counterrevolutionary bandits and malcontents who wish to destroy our Republic from within and return to the dark days of despotism, oppression, and misery. Their activities and poisoned lies can no longer be able to harm Dranean citizens and innocents.

It is thus that I today, as WPD General Secretary, with a determined heart order a complete and utter ban on all activities of the Workers Party of Dranea. The Supreme Court of the DPRD has furthermore ordered the complete dissolution of the WPD and the seizure of all their properties by the Kyo People's Army. We must secure the peace of the Fatherland by any means necessary in these times of great struggle.

OPINION - Sunday's Terror Attacks Were a Wakeup Call for a Society in Need of Reform
Jienist Orthodoxy and the Denial of Women's Rights has stoked Resentment that Could be Exploited by Communist Terrorists

The public bombing in Seongtaek yesterday that killed 5 soldiers and 1 bystander and injured 7 more was beyond a shadow of a doubt mortifying and detestable. The Pro-North insurgent group, the "National Liberation Front" (NLF), was quick to claim responsibility for this heinous crime. In their own manifesto they claim that they fight "to totally overthrow the southern feudal regime and reunite the Socialist Dranean Fatherland".

However, this episode has lessons for our society, lessons we should heed deeply to ensure that the 4 murdered in cold blood yesterday will be the last in Baegukese history. I strongly believe that the NLF would have never had the support or sophistication necessary to initiate their campaigns of terror if our nation's women's rights were not in such a terrible condition.

Baeguk is dead-last in the world for most female rights. A woman isn't even allowed to show her face on the streets in this country or she risks arrest and charging with a misdemeanor for forgetting her Jang-ot or Neool. The prohibition on female officials and legislators has meant that generations of aspiring little girls and capable grown women have been deprived completely of the representative government their male peers enjoy in the Senate and the provinces; the only female lips to reach the Maripgan's ears have been those of attendants and court ladies.

Abortion, child control, and other maternal rights normally granted unconditionally to women in other countries are unheard of in our Kingdom. Female adultery is a capital crime here when men are freely permitted to deflower multiple concubines in addition to their legal wives. A woman is barred from initiating a divorce no matter how abusive or terrible her husband or in-laws are. A woman is unable to inherit anything from her parents unless there is no male immediate next-of-kin to the deceased or closest deceased male. Civil liberties for women are in such a wretched state that women can't even drive cars in Baeguk. While women can now be educated from kindergarten to university (a recent development!), they are still forced to attend worse, separate-but-"equal" gender segregated schools and universities with worse funding and opportunities, putting them at inherent disadvantage.

Jienism is not wholly repressive philosophy, and I certainly am no revolutionary calling for a revolution. However, the human rights and dignity of women in this country are in such a terrible state that it is obvious to anyone sympathetic to the oppression of women in Baeguk that the NLF then seems a reasonable organ of resistance, and terrorism a necessity to force change. I am not in any way endorsing the NLF, but they did not pop up out of thin air. Partially organized by Northern spies and communist agitators and informants, but also partially recruited by our government's own repressive abuse of more than 50% of the Baegukese people. If one is asked who radicalized segments of the Baegukese population to be so violent and revolutionary, the finger can be pointed at none other than our reactionary Jienist administration.

Sunday was a tragedy that should never be repeated. But it was not only that. It was a wakeup call to an ignorant, backwards nation in need of serious reforms and change. The furthering of women's rights in our country and the restoration of their empowerment will strike a more fatal blow to the NLF than thousands of patrolmen in the city streets ever could.

NNN World - Nadiya throws weight behind South Baeguk

KGB Expresses Gratitude for Continued Nadiyan Support, Authorizes the Deployment of the Nadiyan Volunteer Brigades

Today marks the one-month anniversary of the conclusion of the Treaty of Mutual Assistance between the Nadiyan Confederation and the Kingdom of Great Baeguk. The Nadiyan government in public-private partnerships has generously provided 5.2 billion rubles in aid to the Kingdom, giving the KGB crucial oil and other resources. In return, Baeguk promised Nadiya further scientific research cooperation and specialist assistance in Nadiyan domestic tech industries. 

Furthermore, Nadiya has authorized the formation of Nadiyan Volunteer Brigades (NVB) to fight on the allied behalf of the KGB and its northern ally the Administration of the Three Northern Provinces. Today, the KGB government formally accepted and brought to its shores the NVB, who will undergo further training and be integrated into the combined Allied Command for the duration of the conflict. 

The Nadiyan Volunteers are mostly comprised of ethnically Kyo diasporic Nova-Beagukese, largely the descendants of the significant Kyo refugee population that emigrated to Nadiya during the periods of uncertainty in the 53rd and 54th centuries.

Speaking on the honorable and heroic commitment of the NVB, Officer of Foreign Affairs Eulji Yiroun delivered the following comments when meeting :

"It is with deep humility and humble gratefulness the Kingdom receives you today. The shared bonds of a deep commitment to international liberty, freedom, and independence between our nations are long and storied. Nearly 500 years ago, Nadiyan soldiers came to this peninsula to help defeat the evils of fascism and ethnic supremacism, becoming crucial to the effort to liberate Baeguk and restore it to its peace and freedom. Today you carry the proud and noble torch of national salvation, completing the long relay of a half millenium.

 Many of you brave volunteers have not just come to help liberate a people from Communism, but are returning to your ancestral homeland. For the thousands of our brothers and sisters across the wave, the Kyo people of Nova Beaguk, we send our foremost gratitude and appreciation. Let it be known that your Fatherland welcomes you with open arms and warm embrace, and that a path to Baegukese citizenship will be conferred upon all who wish so as is guaranteed under the law regulating the repatriation of overseas compatriots.

Together, as blood brothers sworn to be free against tyranny, our allied forces will overcome the Communist aggression of the North, and together we will prevail."
