State on fire: Students shot dead at law school by Military League

The clock on the wall of the Law School’s main hall shows 2:40 a.m.
The students, exhausted but awake, feel the ground shake as military vehicles and tanks take position outside the “Gate of Justice,” as they call it. Without any warning, the first line of the army’s special forces arrives at the Law and Polytechnic Schools, terrorizing students and the citizens standing with them.

By dawn, the operation had a name: Communist Eradication.

The Independent Military League announced the next morning that it had “no intention of harming the students,” claiming it only wanted to restore order and protect public property.
But as hours passed, the situation worsened. Red Horizon called on all citizens to abandon their jobs and begin a general strike in solidarity with the students, causing an even deeper crisis

Tear gas and fires broke out at the Law School at 19:12. Students ran desperately for safety, but one did not make it. Takashima Yuto became the first victim of the revolution , the spark that ignited violent clashes between students and soldiers.

Then the first was fired.

A rain of bullets came from the student barricades toward the soldiers, without deliberate intent to kill. The military responded with full force.

With Arakawa’s order, special forces stormed the Law School, breaking down the main gate. They opened fire on Red Horizon students. Twelve were killed instantly. More than 106 were arrested and 304 were seriously injured.

Sirens shattered the night’s silence. Students ran into the streets, filming and screaming:
“They’re killing us! They’re killing us! Mother, prepare to bury your child!”
One hour after the massacre, a spokesperson for the Military League arrived, smiling, and declared on live TV:
Quote:The Army fulfilled its duty against the communist threat poisoning our nation. Over 410 criminals have been arrested. No, there are no deaths, no injuries, only traitors

Days passed and citizens conquered the streets again. Stores, homes and squares faced the violence of the crowd. The largest protest in the country’s history marched toward the Ministry of Defense, headquarters of the Military League.

Chaos erupted.

Red Horizon members, unionists and workers invaded the building, beating the officers inside. Police attempted to stop them, but the people would not back down. The tragedy of the Law School continued inside the Ministry as protesters destroyed the building and set it ablaze. League leaders were evacuated secretly by police.

White flags soon appeared on the balconies, a symbol of victory.
Crowds filled the streets, cheering the leaders of the national revolution:
Sakurai Ren, Nakamoto Eiji and Katsuragi Noa.

The government has fallen.
The people thirst for justice!

Far from the rest of the world

Life could hardly be more miserable than spending every day working and sleeping until death finally arrives. No Artanian, no Majatran, no one in this world could compare their lives to that of a peasant in Midway.

Years after the fall of the fascist dictatorship, anarchy has taken over the country. There is still no stable authority to rule the nation.

However, a month ago, representatives of Red Horizon met with the leader of New Dawn and agreed to jointly organize the first free elections in Midway since the fall of the junta. The news spread across the region, and all of Midway now prepares to enter a new era ,one in which no dictatorship will ever again be allowed to exist.

How will the elections work?

The Supreme Court of Midway will oversee the elections, as it remains the only independent institution in the country. All citizens considered natives and owning an official Midway ID card will be allowed to vote for new MPs and for a president.

At the moment, two main parties are known to be competing for first place: 民主連合 (Democratic Union) and 赤い太陽党 (Red Sun) , both left-wing parties, one more radical than the other. Descendants of the Red Horizon movement, they now seek to make their debut on the political stage, though their success remains uncertain.

The people of Midway remain fearful of the political system that once betrayed their values for power. Whoever seeks the presidency must be ready to face a living nightmare.

The country lies in ruins.
The banking system has failed to function properly for many years and every faction that tried to take control collapsed under the crisis. As a result, Midway has been left in the hands of weak regional administrations that barely survived the political crisis.

It is still unclear whether Midway will overcome what many citizens now call the “New age crisis.”
With no stable government economy, governing the nation will be a difficult task for any future leader

Rewriting the Republic: Midway’s 5711 elections

Perhaps the dictatorship still lives…

Maybe we are still far away from a brighter tomorrow, but elections have just taken place in Midway and the parliament is now ready to welcome the newly elected representatives.

Midway has held its first free elections since the fall of the regime and the people are deeply concerned about the future of their country as four parties emerge to represent them. For a nation divided among many ethnic groups, these elections send a powerful message to the outside world: Midway is capable of confronting its problems and uniting its people.

It is essential for every party to protect this unity. Otherwise, frustration may once again erupt, turning citizens against any government formed under this fragile political system. Midway needs strong leadership, leadership mature and wise enough to confront the country’s challenges and truly make a difference for its people…

Official Election Results

民主党 (Democratic Party) — 36.9% / 166 seats
赤い太陽党 (Red Sun Party) — 31.1% / 140 seats
人民党 (People’s Party) — 18.9% / 85 seats
緑の党 (Green Party) — 13.1% / 59 seats

Although the Democratic Party cannot govern alone, it will form a coalition government with the Red Sun Party under the leadership of Democratic Party leader Hiroshi Matsumoto, who will become the President of Midway.

A president does not only govern a country but also bears responsibility for any actions that could lead to a political crisis. Matsumoto is fully aware of this responsibility. Both the Democratic Party and the Red Sun Party support a complete rewrite of Midway’s constitution, seeking to make it more responsive to the challenges faced by this generation.

The proposed reforms include a new constitution, a comprehensive reform of public administration and services, improved infrastructure and a stronger, more strategic foreign policy. All four parties are committed to transforming Midway into a key player in Dovani, believing that with the support of its neighbors, the country can achieve what once seemed impossible.

The parliament’s seat distribution, as announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, is as follows:

From Revolution to Governance: Hiroshi Matsumoto is the new leader of Midway

Freedom is not free, it costs lives, and it is not for everyone. Not all people need freedom, they can become destructive and cause death to others.

Midway, though, is now a free nation, ruled by a leader and a government. Today is the official first day in office for the coalition government of the Democratic Party and Red Sun and things have already started to look strange. A government like this, with zero experience in governance, is very unlikely to make it through this nightmare… but let’s not be so judgmental, as it is only the very beginning of this journey. It is indeed a very important step, as the Democratic Party and Red Sun have agreed to form a coalition government under the leadership of Matsumoto.

450 MPs are inside the National Assembly right now, standing by as they wait for the new leader to step in and announce the beginning of the new government. Although nobody has to wait for this to happen in order to learn the governing plan of the coalition, Matsumoto has already announced a few of his plans, such as economic reforms, a new constitution and better public services and administration.

Midway’s government must truly focus on all aspects of the country, especially foreign policy, which for now is the most important matter for Matsumoto. Restoring relations with all neighbouring countries is the key to a brighter future. Midway will struggle even more without help from an outside source. That is why leader Matsumoto is considering approaching two of the most influential countries in Dovani, Bianjie and Xsampa.

All things will soon be sorted out and start becoming a reality. For now, it is official that Midway has a government and a leader… for now, as the people of this nation have elected only a President and not a Prime Minister. According to the official statement from Red Horizon, the President will lead Midway for two years, enough time for the newly elected government to reach an agreement with the other parties on the new constitutional reform, which will be required to include that the future leader of Midway will always be the Prime Minister of each elected government.

It may sound a bit confusing, but after such chaos, it is quite difficult to completely remove chaos from your life.

From many cultures, One Republic — The Republic of Midway / 中央共和国

From the dark past of the Gaoic influence, Midway is officially declaring its sovereignty by leaving behind its Gaoic identity and following an independent path. The Gaoic Republic of Midway is no longer an existing state, it has been replaced by the Republic of Midway, a free nation with no major ethnicity that overpowers minorities. All ethnic groups in Midway are equally represented by the state. No more discrimination or apartheid laws.

448 MPs voted in favour of the new bill that Matsumoto introduced in the Parliament. New name, new flag, new constitution. Midway is facing its biggest identity change in decades and this is only the beginning. President Matsumoto waved the new flag of Midway from his office. The flag equally represents all 10 regions of Midway, with a fire lily in the middle as the new national symbol of Midway.

Quote:From now on, Midway is a free republic, a union of many different cultures and traditions. People from all around Terra live here in harmony. Our country is not just a chaotic place somewhere in the middle of Dovani, it’s a democratic country built on laws and values that respect each person’s unique identity. Our motto, From many cultures, One Republicemphasises our goal of making Midway a central hub in Dovani where people can live in peace without fear of being attacked or threatened with death for being different from others. Socialists and democrats shall live in harmony. No left or right party will divide the people of Midway again.

I must say that the most important thing about this declaration is that Midway leaves behind its Gaoic past and embraces a new culture that represents all people in Midway. 10 regions, all very different yet the same at the same time, share a common thing: they are all human and that is more than enough for our government to stay motivated and devoted to protecting all ethnicities. The New Republic will erase its dark past and move forward as the free Republic of Midway, a dream of our generation to finally see Midway united.

Following this new Republic, Midway will now enter a new era as the two year term of the Matsumoto government has come to an end and new elections will take place next month to elect new MPs.

5718 Elections: The Republic of Midway under the rule of Red Sun

Under the light of freedom and democracy, the 5718 elections of Midway are officially over and the results are now out for all citizens to see and cheer for their new leader.

Official results:

赤い太陽党 (Red Sun Party) | 36.4% – 87 seats
民主党 (Democratic Party) | 33.8% – 81 seats
人民党 (People’s Party) | 16.5% – 40 seats
緑の党 (Green Party) | 13.3% – 32 seats

Midway’s socialist party, Red Sun, deeply inspired by the student movements of the Midway Revolution, managed to secure its first parliamentary victory with 87 out of 240 seats in the National Assembly. It is very important to note that the previous government of Matsumoto had 450 seats due to being an emergency government that would vote on a new constitution. Now, with things going smoothly for Midway, the National Assembly of Midway has a total number of 240 seats for representatives.

Although Red Sun managed to secure the victory, it did not gain the majority of seats. As a result, a coalition government between Red Sun and the People’s Party was formed under the leadership of Red Sun. We must not forget that Midway’s new leader is now the Prime Minister and not the President anymore. Aya Meilin was elected as the new Prime Minister, as she was already the leader of the Red Sun Party. After a long debate in the Assembly, the President of the Republic of Midway is once again Hiroshi Matsumoto from the Democratic Party.

With all this information, we understand that Midway remains a united republic even when things become more complicated and new for all people.

What does that mean for the future of Midway?

Portrait of Aya Meilin
Aya Meilin, a truly inspiring socialist, will lead Midway towards a bright future. As she has made clear, Midway will join the Dovani Union as a way to enhance relations with other member states of the DU, Bianjie and Xsampa. Midway will not fear the new challenges that may appear in the future and with the power of all citizens of Midway, the country will continue to build a strong and free state for all people to live in.

The Republic of Midway becomes a member of the Dovani Union - Aya Meilin visits Xsampa to discuss SSA and New Hope Initiative

The Republic of Midway officially applies for membership in the Dovani Union and becomes a member of it.

The Dovani Union, an organization with a strong presence across the Dovani continent, is becoming an important part of Midway’s political scene, as the Prime Minister officially announced Midway’s involvement in Dovanian politics.

This decision, which is critical for Midway’s future, is the first step toward making our country a central hub in all of Dovani. Midway’s long term goal is to promote closer cooperation with all member states and prevent future political crises. Cooperation with other countries is not always easy after the recent events in our nation. The student revolution left a deep mark on society and every reminder of the Gaoic past still causes strong reactions among the socialist and communist movements of the country.

However, the government of the Red Sun accepted the reality of the situation and decided to take a step forward in resolving issues that involve neighboring countries and others that previously had relations with the fascist regime. The Prime Minister clearly stated that Midway will slowly and steadily integrate into the Union. For now, Midway will officially become a member state without joining the freedom of movement pillar between member states, as this idea has not yet fully matured within society. Nevertheless, the Prime Minister emphasized that all possibilities remain open and nothing is being ruled out.

Another very important step taken by the new government is the official visit of Prime Minister Aya Meilin to Xsampa, where she met with her counterpart, Premier Thekchen Auclair, to discuss cooperation between the two countries. One of the main topics discussed was the Sovereign Sea Accord, as the Prime Minister expressed Midway’s desire to participate and sign the treaty as a sign of solidarity with the other countries that have already signed it.

In any case, Midway represents a special case in this matter because of the Midway Canal, which connects the Sea of Carina with the Sovereign Sea. Because of this strategic position, the treaty could significantly benefit the region surrounding the Sovereign Sea.

Beyond the signing of the treaty, the two leaders also discussed Midway’s potential involvement in the New Hope Initiative an international cooperation framework put forth by Xsampa. This could help the economy of Midway and support the working class, as it would help businesses grow.

All of these matters and many more, were discussed between the two leaders and they ultimately reached a shared conclusion: the friendly relations between the two countries will greatly benefit their peoples, who are essentially separated by nothing more than borders and land.
