Sleyster STAYS inspite of VVP Polling Low

[Image: 03abe804-fd8e-438b-846c-4e88e23a823e.jpeg]
Sleyster announcing his decision to stay in cabinet

After a series of unusually high geopolitical turmoil in the Dual Republic, the responsible Foreign Minister Matthijs Sleyster has been decied to stay by  the side of his patron President Robert Kommenda. Political pundits are surprised at this move due to the recently published opinion polling low of the VVP attributed to Sleysters hawkish foreign policy attitude. He met a large amount of press representatives after a tense meeting with President Kommenda in which he ensured that his responses were a little to bold and rhetorics to brutish but nontheless necessary. Questions surrounding the Lodamese deal had an surprising answer, Sleyster and his Defense Ministry Pondon were pulled back by Kommenda who was not happy with the communication strategy of his foreign Minister. Further along the line of questioning were his interesting remarks regarding Dorvik. "I've had a call with the Dorvish Foreign Minister in which I have apologized for my misplaced remarks. This was not a good display of my capabilities. We assured the Dorvish government our continued friendship and trust in them. I've also explicitly stated that the Dual Republic wants Dorvik at the table with Beiteynu for a potential partnership in regards to regional security." Lastly Minister Sleyster was asked about his opinion on Kundrati's retreat from the Pass. "Well, you see, that is exactly what we wanted, we've made an example of them. We do not take lightly to irrational reckless independent military maneuvers in our security zone and will continue to uphold this attitude."

Dual Republic expands Diplomatic Corp

New members of the Diplomatic Corp under the Foreign Ministry

The Foreign Ministry has announced their plans for massive personel-expansions for the Diplomatic Corp were a success. This comes as no surprise considering the recent resurgence of new diplomatic activity the Dual Republic has engaged in. Sleyster expressed his confidence in the new members of his institution at a graduation ceremony at the "Diplomacy Academy Bannerhafen." Most of these people will soon see their new posts all over the world. Sleyster confirmed to us that some of them will go to Dorvik and others have specifically been instructed for Seleyan affairs. In recent months, rumors of Valruzian-Dual Republican deepening diplomatic ties started gaining traction and apparently they appear to hold true. After a series of dramatic foreign policy actions, Sleyster was very happy to comment on some of his soon-to-be-announced diplomatic victories. He was reluctant to share many details but nontheless filled in some of the empty spots. Apparently the Dual Republic has been preparing an investment package for port modernizations in Valruzia and has used its networks to connect private sector entitites from home with potential Valruzian partners. Some shipping contracts will be outsourced to Valruzia to allow for consolidation and specialization of the medium sized shipping corporations of the Dual Republic. Any further inquiry on this topic was left unanswered. He referred us to news coming from Valruzia very soon and has teased us about other deals being made in the vicinity of the already discussed.

First billions go to navy upgrades

The long awaited military rejuvenation project has finally started to let the financial assets flow to the first designated areas. According to the Ministry of Defence, the first order of business are upgrades to the already persisting naval equipment. This goes hand in hand with re-organization efforts and restructuring within the relatively old current system of the navy. Defence officials explain that this serves as a basis from which to expand from. In the second phase of the military rejuvenation, new navy vessels will be introduced and ordered. Lastly the Army and Air Forces are going to see a much-needed modernization with newly developed high-end weapons from the Dual Republic's own arms manufacturers based at home, beiteynu and soon somewhere else.

DR pushes to remove foreign elements from Artania

Busy Matthijs Sleyster on the move
After the announcement from Beiteynu that they're moving forces onto the artanian continent, the Dual Republican foreign minister Matthijs Sleyster (VVP) has started to make his moves. In an ironic fashion he commented against the plans of Narikaton and Darnussias ally (Beiteynu) and has publicly criticized the movement as "strategicly and diplomaticly poor." According to officials from the Diplomatic Corp, the Minister has had multiple heated phone calls with his yeudi equivalent and rushed between the Luthorian as well as Dundorfian Consulates in Bannerhafen to formulate a coordinated diplomatic response. Hours later Sleyster called for an impromptu press conference.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, thank you for being here, after a long and exhausting day of consulting our allies in Dunburg and Fort William. We, the Dual Republic have come to the conclusion that we demand the immediate retreat of any forces from different continents away from Artania. Our partners have ensured us that this is their will as well and that they're gonna follow our lead in this endeavour. I want to thank them for their time today - the talks have been very productive - consequently.. at the threat of straining our relations I have told the Beiteynese Medinat Department that they are to retreat their forces from Hobrazia without any delay. We are not gonna tolerate this kind of behaviour from any nation, not from foreign actors and definitly not from our allies."

DR Food Price Crisis worsens
[Image: 103910e13d2368af9d952835402e9730f214d7de...9e9ebbab05]
President Kommenda at a interest group meeting

While the VVP-led Kommenda administration is trying to offset the high domestic food prices with cheap imports from the agricultural focussed Zardugal, the government is faced with increasingly larger protests from the left and liberal wing of the political landscape. The Dual Republican Farmer's Union has started agitating and supporting the protests, they've been continously critizing the governments hyper-liberal stance on the markets, or rather the food market specifically. They have a hard time maintaing their businesses and not enough ressources to expand their operations due to large corporations buying surroundings lands which would otherwise be prime real-estate for agricultural operations. Sven Fohlen, leader of the union, has stated that he already tried to reach out to Kommenda and the Ministry of Trade & Industry but was basicly ignored. As the frustration is rising and discontent with conservative governance increases the VVP is struggling with unchanged polling lows.

von Merenbürg concludes positive Results in Trade Policy
[Image: TCDMAM2_EC070.jpg]
Peter von Merenbürg, Trade Minister of the Dual Republic

The Trade Ministry under the wise guidance of the prominent former businessman and Passschiffe Bau AG CEO Peter von Merenbürg has released its review of the Trade and Industry Policy. This mostly includes deals brokered by the notorious Foreign Minister Matthijs Sleyster. Firstly the deal with Valruzia is serving the purpose of further expansion for the manufacturers and producers of the Dual Republic. After the stunning success of the Red Stad project, the domestic capabilites for production are completely filled and it is hard to come buy useful real-estate for industrial development anymore. A welcoming Valruzian government has offered massive tax incentives to ease the way of our companies into their markets. This growth is beneficial to both parties as the dividends of the companies go to a large part back to Narikaton and Darnussia but also increase the purchasing power of the Valruzian people. In addition to the investment agreements, the Dual Republic has also connected the two shipping industries of the respective nations and off-set some contracts to Valruzian companies, especially new ones with Gaduridos that connect the Valruzian-Dual Republic deal with the wider vision for domestic involvement in Seleya. With massive assurances of investment and the obligation to modernize the ports of Gaduridos the Dual Republic has gained exclusive oil distribution rights for 20% of all gaduri oil which is a massive boost to the already enormous energy sector of Narikaton and Darnussia. While the Seleyan developments show good fortune for the Dual Republic, the report fails to mention the still ongoing agricultural crisis of domestic producers in the primary sector, it seems like the conservatives are running out of gas on the home front.

Zum Clenonberg set to win against Kommenda in VVP polling low
[Image: http%3A%2F%2Fcom.ft.imagepublish.upp-pro...=700&dpr=1]
President Kommenda at a townhall-meeting explaining his policy priorities

It seems that in the general elections in 5562, the VVP is set to loose once again and continue its instability streak of the past few decades. While the VVP according to polls is still going to be the largest faction in the Nationalrat but a small margin, they're going to loose quite a few seats. This is attributed due to the bad public reputation the Kommenda government has gained over his first term and a diversifying Dual Republican political landscape. For the first time in quite a while not only the VVP, the liberal DRP and the further left SDP are going to contest the election but also a number of new parties - the most surprising fact- they're supposed to win seats in parliament.
Looking to the right, the Thallerist Conservative Party is looking to garner some votes from the weakened VVP and some disgruntled right-wing rural voters. Additionally another party is trying to establish themselves among this voter pool; the Dundorfnational Party, a Pan-Dundorfian nationalist party focused on ethnic politics including the usage of a more defamtory language for other cultural groups as well as advocating for increased international isolationism. Their chairman, Ralf Freiherr von Vaut recently caused controversy by blaming the beiteynese people for the struggles of the poor working man in the Dual Republic, they've also coined the slogan "The Dual Republic has to die for us to live." Obviously these sentiments arent very popular and they're not likely to be part of any governing coalition, nevertheless they're set to enter parliament for the first time.

Ralf Freiherr von Vaut

In the center, the Landbund, a farmers union turned political party is trying to consolidate the political forces in rural Darnussia, they're running on a centrist-reformist platform mostly focussed on the increasingly worsening food price crisis and the nation-wide phenomenon of "farmer-dying." They're blaming the VVP for this crisis and have specifically rejected the idea of forming a government with Kommenda should he be awarded with another term by the voters, instead they've made allures to the Democratic Republic Party whose presidential candidate Vanessa zum Clenonberg is currenty leading the polls in a head-to-head race against incumbent Kommenda. With the Landbund mostly being based in the Darnussian part of the Dual Republic, their narik pondon is the - a little more leftist - Groene Boeren Bond which is decisively more focused on environmental issues, they're one of the few parties supporting green energy initiatives instead of oil, they've made headlines with their suggestions that the oil-business is making Narikaton and Darnussia a authoritarian petro-state which has landed them in hot-waters with their VVP opponents more than once.

Vanessa zum Clenonberg at a charity gala

On the left side of the political specturm we can find the already well-known SDP. They've gained a reputation for their short-lived political achievement of beating the infamously incompetent Hjalmar Eimer by gaining support among their primary enemy, the VVP, and forming a government with the rebel Heinrich Karner. This experiment certainly hasnt worked out for them as they might have wanted it to. Which political pundits mostly attribute to VVP media meddling, as the SDP actually has made progress by establishing what some might call the fundamentals of a welfare state. It lead to them loosing massively in the next election with most of their voters returning to their origin-party the DRP. Current polls show them to hold their position as a small-sized party, pontentially loosing some seats to the Boeren Bond. At the far-left end we have the newly formed Revolutionairen. A party which is currently being watched by the domestic intelligence agency due to their advocacy for the abolishment of global capitalism and the imprisonment of 'corrupt VVP cleptocrats.' Their main point of influence are the ongoing left-wing and farmer protests against the Kommenda food policies, a point of contest in which every other party than the VVP is currently opposing Kommenda.

von Merenbürg involved in corruption scandal
[Image: vonmerenb-rgscandal.png]
Peter von Merenbürg, Trade Minister of the Dual Republic

BREAKING: Bannerhafen, Alkavon State Persecutors office announced that they have sued Trade Minister Peter von Merenbürg in a high profile case of bribery. According to the official press release, the Persecution has reason to believe that the Minister has taken bribes from various corporations to ease hindrances in acquiring cheal real estate in the Darnussian hinterlands, the lands that are responsible for the inability of the farmers to expand their business and agricultural operations. In addition to that there is also evidence that von Merenbürg has thrown out previously signed-off proposals on tax exemptions and subsidies for medium-sized agricultural companies to instead let importers profit from the increased volume of goods of the primary sector that currently enter the Dual Republic to offset missing domestic operations. While Bannerhafen Nachrichten has only seen little of the evidence, these documents, pictures and the general logic of the case weigh heavily on von Merenbürg. The Minister has yet to comment on the allegations, on our inquires we only got an answer from the attorney tasked to represent him. President Kommenda only responded with: "I have full confidence in Peter von Merenbürg and cannot believe that he would do anything of the sort. I think the Prosecution is following a bad lead."

Political Earthquake: Sleyster leaves Cabinet due to Merenbürg Scandal

[Image: 88dcc67_2024-06-11t135151z-1340920164-rc...ection.JPG]
Sleyster after leaving President Kommenda's office

BREAKING: After the recent revelation about Trade Minister Peter von Merenbürg's shady dealings behind close doors and the subsequent persecution from the judicial forces of the Dual Republic, prominent Foreign Minister Matthijs Sleyster has announced his resignation. In the early morning hours of the 3rd of February, Sleyster offered his resignation to President Robert Kommenda who in turn released him into political limbo. The former Minister didnt answer any questions and declined to comment on his future. Political pundits expect him to not leave the political landscape entirely, he has gained a lot of capital in the VVP and has special support from the parliamentary faction as well as the nationalist wing of the party. Some even rumor that this is a calculated move to save himself from the embarassment of getting voted out of office at the next general elections which increasingly seem like a DRP landslide victory. For the immediate future it seems like Matthijs Sleyster will return to the Nationalrat.
