Former Emperor lived life peacefully in WJZR under new name

The Secretary-General of the People's Council has announced that until two weeks ago the former Emperor of the Jelbic Peoples, Wrntukai II Banmek-Sntazed, lived peacefully in the Jelbic People's Soviet Republic. The revelation came as a shock to many, the former monarch of Wrnuke had fled the nation during the turmoil of May 5590 to be with his newly-wed wife, Theodora of Narikaton & Darnussia. After the Bloodless Revolution he lived as Jelbic Emperor reigning over the remnants of his collapsing imperial ambitions and as consort to Queen of the Dual Monarchy. This all came to an end when, as commander-in-chief of Beiteynu, the Emperor did not object to a nuclear strike on Xsampa in 5599. The Yeudish nuclear Armageddon of the Xsampan people saw the collapse of their state and the Jelbic Empire as a whole. Rumours state that the marriage between Theodora and Wrntukai ended as well, though this was never confirmed, nor was the exiled monarch seen again. Over the last quarter of a century many have speculated what has happened to the once mighty Jelbic ruler. The internet is awash with conspiracy theories, some saying that the Thallers sacrificed him in an ancient ritual to absorb the 'ancient powers' that his 'noble bloodline' brings. Others that state he became a military advisor in Kundrati or Kalistan. Some made him out to be a mysterious hermit billionaire living in a great mansion in Lourenne. Some said, or hoped, that he committed suicide after the nuclear strike as an act of repentance. A few people suggested he had become a Tanhrist hermit in rural Jelbe. None however had gotten to the truth, which is that in 5601 the former monarch returned to his native Wrnuke.

The reason for the government to announce that the former Emperor lived within the borders of the Jelbic People's Soviet Republic is that the former monarch passed away on the 16th of October 5625 at the age of 77. "With his passing the Politburo feels that it is appropriate to share with our Worldburnerist brothers, loyal citizens, and others that the former monarch of the Jelbic Empire, the Wrntukai II of the House of Banmek-Sntazed, has spent the last twenty-five years peacefully living within our great nation as a reformed citizen and a dedicated follower of Worldburnerism," said Secretary-General Batr Juhnsrmko Vrn during the press conference earlier today. A special report was released describing some details of the life of the former monarch. After realising the gravity of his sins the exiled Emperor fled Narikaton & Darnussia, using his vast network and personal wealth to relocate in Jelbe under a false identity. After this he wrote a lengthy letter to the Politburo, expressing his remorse and his desire to return to his native lands and retire in peace. The letter came with the signed (in blood) promise to rescind all his titles and claims. A personal account added to the report by retired People's Secretary Altantrnkai Vrn, a former member of the Politburo in 5601, attested to the fact that the elder members of the Politburo were particularly taken by the letter and its promise. The blood promise hawked back on an ancient Jelbic tradition, that only true promises could be written in blood. The younger generation was less impressed, expecting it to be a plot. Nonetheless, the Secretary-General at the time, Nurem Rotrovesk, approved the RSB to bring the exiled monarch within the WJZR.

Upon the his return the few of the RSB and Politburo that had met the Emperor when he still reigned barely recognised him. He was in modest dress, had aged considerably, and behaved most modestly. He apologised profusely for all his actions and kept reiterating to all people there that "The Wrntukai of yesterday, is the enemy of Wrntukai today". The former monarch entered a program of rehabilitation and met with citizens, tutors, Worldburnerist scholars, and members of the Politburo. In the Summer of 5602 the personal tutor of Wrntukai Banmek-Sntazed declared him "rehabilitated" and he was allowed to re-enter Wrnuke's society. Surprisingly however, the former Emperor refused. He felt he had to do more to regain his liberty. The Politburo refused to imprison the Banmek-Sntazed scion. In the meanwhile a few Worldburnerist scholars, trying to fully emulate the teachings of the Worldburner, had founded a commune where they lived in modernity and modesty. They called themselves the Order of the Burned Men and were inspired by the modest background of the original Worldburner as well as Hosian monastic orders. They lived secluded, trying to distance themselves from Jelbic traditions and adapting modernity while spending their days discussing Worldburnerist theory and literature. This became a safe haven for men like Wrntukai Banmek-Sntazed. He entered the order in 5602, taking residence in a Burned Men commune outside of Wiel. This is where he took the name Frjokonmek'ai, which literally translates to "man who is as a consequence of having burnt". A man that has seen the fire, faced it, felt it, repented, and is now trying his best to make his life worthy. 

Frjokonmek'ai donated all his earthly wealth to charities and Worldburnerist causes. He became a passionate writer, about Jelbic history and Worldburnerist political theory. Under his new name he was often published and briefly wrote a column in the Opstmojadé Péashro newspaper. They never knew his real identity. Members of the Order of the Burned Men cited him as a wise mentor, a man with experiences and wisdom beyond his years, well-read and extremely humble. Only the leadership of the Order knew his true identity. In 5619 he was made an Elder, the highest rank within the Order, and spent many days tutoring members on history and Worldburnerism. At age 77 he passed away after a sudden illness. Frjokonmek'ai died at peace, his last words were that he had finally forgiven himself. The Jelbic People's Soviet Republic honours the passing of a devout Worldburnerist.

Today, on the 6th of April 5626, the Tenth Politburo of the free, democratic and staunchly Worldburnerist Jelbic People's Soviet Republic of Wrnuke, or the Wrnukaék Jelb'koékaié Zemosrné Rekvakns, has held a special meeting after the news of the Deltarian ambitions to exploit the natural oil and gas reserves in the sacred Lake Majatra.

During this meeting the Politburo discussed the duty of the Jelbic People's Soviet Republic of Wrnuke in regards to the Jelbic People across Majatra. The Politburo unanimously agreed that, as the most prosperous and powerful state, the WJZR should be a guardian for all Jelbic comrades across the continent. "The people of Jelbe are Worldburnerist, as such they are protected by their fellow Worldburnerists." Such were the powerful words of the chairman of the Politburo.

The Politburo is open to discuss business with Deltaria. But maintains that it has a sacred duty to guard over the peace and neutrality of Lake Majatra. The Politburo has given guarantees to protect Jelbe's interests and sovereignty in this sensitive affair.

Minister Fabj presents revolutionary agricultural plans

11 October 5627, Wiel, Jelbic People's Soviet Republic of Wrnuke

The newly appointed Minister for Agricultural Advancements Nurem Herlkaisrmko Fabj on a live television broadcast.

Secretary-General Vrn recently announced that a new department would be established to propel the Jelbic People's Soviet Republic forwards. Shortly after prominent party member Nurem Fabj was promoted to the new position of Minister for Agricultural Advancements. A hefty budget was transferred to the new department together with some bright Worldburnerist minds. Today Minister Fabj was ready to present his advanced plans, and he did so in a widely televised interview. Fabj described in vivid terms how traditionalism has been holding back the Jelbic People's for centuries, even bringing a small map to show Wrnuke's population density. The settled and developed Jelbics, those that have parted ways with traditionalist thought, mostly live on the coast. As a matter of fact, over 80% of Wrnuke's population lives close to shore. Near the shore there is ample industry, farmland, urban areas, and all other things a modern Worldburnerist society needs. Inland however it is a different story, the barren deserts and steppes cover the vast lands of the Jelbic People's Soviet Republic.

Now, the Minister wishes to change this. He has deemed the steppes the "untapped potential and the untamed ambition" of the WJZR and the first mission of this new member of the Politburo will be to tame the steppes. Several parts of the central steppes have been marked as terrain for "future communal farms". The plan is to send the qualified experts of the Department of Agricultural Advancement to establish many acres of new farmland. Farms will then be built and those looking for a new life and job can apply to live there free of charge. Several crops will be tried, but Minister Fabj who's name is Jelbic for 'bean' is most enthusiastic about trying a new experimental strain of spring beans, this has earned him the nickname of Minister Bean in Jelbic media. The idea has met some backlash from cultural charities and reactionary organisations that wish to preserve some forms of traditional life within the WJZR. They fear the local tribes will be eradicated by this endeavour. The spokesperson of the Politburo waved away these concerns: "This great endeavour is for the advancement of the WJZR and adheres to all tenets of Worldburnerism - concerns by local horsemen come secondary to those of the state and the greater good."

Today, on the 16th of November 5637, the Fourteenth Politburo of the free, democratic and staunchly Worldburnerist Jelbic People's Soviet Republic of Wrnuke, or the Wrnukaék Jelb'koékaié Zemosrné Rekvakns, has held a special meeting in a response to the illegal sale of military hardware, in this case a Froahiko-class submarine, from the former Beiteynuese state to the nation of South Dovani.

As per the contract signed between the original purchasing parties, that being the Kingdom of Wrnuke and the Kingdom of Beiteynu, at that time both as member states of the Empire of the Jelbic Peoples, it would always remain illegal to re-sale the purchased hardware unless with extensive verified permission from the authority in Wiel. As the Department of People's Defence has not agreed with this sale it is invalid, illegal, and must be reverted at the earliest convenience.

The Politburo urges the government of South Dovani to renege the purchase. The Politburo furthermore is willing to pay South Dovani, in full, for the return of this vessel to Wiel. The Politburo also announces it will start a legal procedure against the authorities behind this sale through international courts. Furthermore, a rejection of these demands will be seen as a sign of aggression, hostility, and animosity towards the WJZR and Worldburnerism in general.

Leaked files reveal multibillion bailout of national budget

The main office of the Ministry of Finance in the capital city of Wiel had lights on until the late hours in the last few weeks.

27 August 5666

Grak Sháhazi has come into possession of several leaked government memos, notes, and emails revealing that the Politburo of the WJZR has received a massive bailout from a foreign entity. In recent years recession has taken a hold of the economy of the largest Jelbic state, and Worldburnerist economists seemed unable to counter the rising inflation and unemployment. Then it became clear that the national budget had severe shortcomings, with one whistle-blower claiming the government had been doing their state finances wrong for over a decade and that the nation was heading for an economic collapse. These criticisms were ignored by the Politburo, they insisted the situation was under control. A historical moment came on February 20th, when the Politburo released a statement wherein they admitted recent economic downfall. However, no responsibility was taken and the "free market" was blamed for the shift. Secretary-General Jere Cahn promised her personal attention to fixing the matter.

It has now become clear that fixing the economy consisted of receiving a massive bailout from a foreign source. The bloated budget has been fixed by the insertion of an excess of a hundred billion marks. Several files were leaked revealing this deal and insiders have confirmed that they are authentic. The Ministry of Finance and the Politburo refused to comment on the situation while the financial department of the National Police has started an investigation. The offices of Grak Sháhazi were raided by RSB agents after it became clear the news outlet possessed the leaked documents. The documents use extensive codenames for the entity that granted the loan and so far their true identity has not been confirmed. Some of the money has been traced to Narikaton & Darnussia, as well as New Verham, prompting some to suggest the involvement of the Triad and exiled opponents of the WJZR. The definitive answer remains unclear.

For now, the government finances seem stable, though the market has taken a severe hit in response to the bailout. It is to be seen whether the Politburo can properly reform the nation's finances before the house of cards collapses. Others that are critical of the secretive way the Politburo is tackling such a big issue are also concerned about the source of the loan. It is yet to be seen what the mysterious investors want in return for their hundred billion mark loan.

Borders re-open amidst chaotic government announcements

After the announcement many gathered at the borders to utilise the new policies, it took several hours before guards relented.

9 November 5667

"Restless, tense, and chaotic" is how most are describing the atmosphere within the world's last Worldburnerist nation, the Jelbic republic of Wrnuke. For almost eighty years the Majatran nation has been a symbol for all left-leaning Jelbics and socialists across the world. In the last decade however, it seems that decay has set in on the crumbling empire. A stagnating economy, supply chain issues, increasing corruption and cronyism, budget constrains, a mysterious foreign bailout, and increased police violence are just some of the issues the Soviet Republic is facing. The resignation of Secretary-General Cahn in January of this year saw her being replaced by the relatively young and progressive Gerl Bozujigumo. To combat the increasing civil unrest he implemented a series of liberalisation measures and gave a pledge to "reform and unify the Soviet Republic of Wrnuke" at his June 9th speech to the nation. Since then the unrest has played into the hands of opposition movements, including party hardliners and underground movements like the democrats and monarchists.

As a part of liberalisation efforts Secretary-General Bozujigumo signed an executive decree allowing for a more passive approach to migration, travel visas, and tourism. The memorandum sent to local governments and the border guards was wrongly interpreted by the main office of the Jelbic People's Border Agency, where the director, General Knstín Werkszes, held a press conference stating that the border would be opened that evening at 20:00 Wiel Time. Before the Politburo could respond people had gathered at the border, and at 20:00 precisely the confused guards at some posts opened the border. At other locations local commanders refused to carry out the orders, or were already given new orders to deny access. As the Politburo scrambled to find a coherent response, with Secretary-General Bozujigumo supposedly being unavailable, more and more border guards relented in the later hours. As midnight came people were freely traveling in and out of the Soviet Jelbic People's Republic of Wrnuke for the first time in sixteen years.

In the early morning of today the Politburo gave a statement signed by the Secretary-General wherein the open borders were officially endorsed, with the previous decree being amended without further comment on the situation. The absence of Bozujigumo was also explained, as a new cooperative deal was signed with the Triad Republic. This deal, hoping to bolster the national economy, caused more unrest and discontent amidst party hardliners. The general sentiment amongst the hardliners of the party is that cooperating with the most capitalist nation of the world is a betrayal of the working classes and the general beliefs of Worldburnerism. This situation escalated further as the Politburo also presented their plans for a new WJZR, which would reintroduce semi-free elections and abandon several tenets of Worldburnerist ideology. This in turn caused a group of party hardliners led by Jishák Hukrskez'lkjo, grandson of the first Secretary-General, to form the Special Committee for National Salvation. The twelve party hardliners, with most of them being former Politburo members, have set up a list of demands to Secretary-General Bozujigumo. So far the Politburo has refused to address the demands.

Sitting government thwarts coup attempt in Wiel

Just before 4 PM local time soldiers appeared on the Plaza of the Blood Revolution, storming the People's Council building.

28 November 5667

Government forces have thwarted a coup attempt in the capital of the WJZR. Wiel became the scene of a violent display, as military forces stormed the Plaza of the Bloodless Revolution in the government district and stormed the building of the People's Council. Government officials claim they attempted to seize parliament and arrest Secretary-General Gerl Bozujigumo. However, Bozujigumo was able to leave the premises shortly before the soldiers stormed the People's Council. The group responsible for the coup attempt is the collection of Worldburnerist hardliners that operate under the Special Committee for National Salvation name. This committee has several influential party members in its midst, even the grandson of the first Secretary-General who was by many considered the founder of the WJZR after the Bloodless Revolution. The people involved with the coup were able to seize the People's Council, including its broadcasting abilities. Through this a short statement was released on behalf of the Politburo, though all members bar one of the Politburo had vacated the area fifteen minutes prior. The message stated that all changed recently made would be reversed and that the new Politburo would address the nation later that day. This never came to fruition as government aligned forces surrounded the government quarter of Wiel. In an address shortly after the coup was thwarted Bozujigumo personally thanked General Merlkai Anzlék-Zahr of the air forces, who after a personal call from a mutual friend of the Secretary-General scrambled all available jets and attack helicopters to dominate the airspace above the nation's capital.

Most individuals involved with the Special Committee for National Salvation have been arrested by the massing of forces that surrounded the government quarter. The leading figures, like Jishák Hukrskez'lkjo, were arrested on the spot. There are currently two reports of senior party figures having committed suicide instead of facing an arrest. Secretary-General Bozujigumo has requested every inhabitant of the nation to remain calm and has reiterated his commitment to the previous pledges he made. The borders will remain open, any made deals will remain standing. The Secretary-General also attempted to seize the moment by talking about reforming the WJZR into a "newer and stronger Soviet Republic", though this was not taken kindly by the people that came out to support the thwarting of the coup. Many in the public seem to associate the coup and recent troubles with the WJZR. While Bozujigumo seems hard-pressed to continue his path of reformation public opinion is quickly swaying against it. Several mayors of city states and even one Regional Chairman (the Worldburnerist variant of a state governor) spoke openly against a continuation of the WJZR. For now peace has returned to the nation, but stability has not returned.

People enter the streets of Wiel as it becomes clear the WJZR has fallen and democracy and the king will return.

Today at noon a historic document was signed in the former seat of government of the Jelbic People's Soviet Republic of Wrnuke. Secretary-General Bozujigumo met with the leaders of the opposition, senior party members, the Politburo, and representatives of the royal family to sign the official dissolution of the WJZR and declaration of the new constitutional monarchy. There were still be a referendum on the restoration of the monarchy, with it not yet being clear which claimant will stand as the candidate for the position of monarch. Rumours circulate pointing at the Archduke living in Narikaton and Darnussia. Polling numbers for the monarchy are high, fuelled by extensive marketing campaigns and a strong sense of nostalgia. Many regular Wrnukaékai remember their grandparents talking about the opulent times of the Kingdom and Empire, which will certainly help the case for the Banmek-Sntazed's.

The dissolution of the WJZR was supported by all Regional Chairs of the regions of Wrnuke and all mayors of the major cities of the nation. The ambition of the Secretary-General to reform and modernise the WJZR died a quiet death the last few months, as protests increased across the nation. With the opposition growing in power as liberalisation efforts were pushed through, the end was inevitable. Political experts have argued that the November Coup was the final nail in the coffin for the Worldburnerist state apparatus. The new constitution of Wrnuke will protect democratic efforts, marking a sharp turn from the previous more autocratic monarchy. The entire draft contains no mention of the famed royal veto, a tool used by the monarch during some political crises in the past. It seems that, as soon as the referendum passes, Wrnuke will for the first time in a long time have a full constitutional monarchy where the new King will only be a symbolic head of the nation. For now, people are yearning for stability as the gold and green banners line the streets once more.
