Sejm to use new building for its official meetings
Old building deemed "irreparable" following the bombing during the 5623-5624 Valruzian protests
June 5626
The new Sejm building
After experts determined that the old Sejm building is in a “totally irreparable” state and that its reuse would require its complete demolition and rebuilding from the ground up after the explosion it suffered during the 5623-5624 protests in Valruzia, the Military Junta has decided to cede one of the palaces used as a barracks for the Valruzian Armed Forces in the capital as new headquarters for the Sejm.
This building, which is located in the so-called “Victory Square” and is more than 200 years old, has a total area of approximately 50,000 m² (including the entire square), of which 19,000 m² are built and the remaining 31,000 m² are open space. Crossed by a 15-meter wide estuary, the Military Junta has already declared that they intend to “renovate and modernize the bridges that cross it”, with the idea of building five bridges symbolizing each of the five regions of the nation.
Quote:“This is a new opportunity to leave behind the dark period from which we have emerged and look to a new future. This new building, with its renovation, will truly become a “people's building”, where citizens will be able to enter to visit its many galleries. Visitors will be able to go up the towers on the sides and admire the view from above. In addition, the square itself will become a space for passers-by, a space to enjoy,”
said a spokesman for the military junta.
Building plan
In addition, the government has announced that on each of the bridges will be placed two plaques with inscriptions, one with the phrase “to the martyrs of the revolution, who gave their lives for the freedom of Valruzia” and the other with the names of all those who were killed by the Morawski regime from each Valruzian Voivodeship, with an estimated number of between 2000 and 8000 citizens. In the center of the square, a fountain is to be built representing life.
This change has been welcomed by a vast majority of the newly elected deputies, whilst some members of the National Salvation party have raised concerns over the "attempt to erase and modify history". Nevertheless, deputies are expected to convene next month and elect the first Marshall of the Sejm (speaker of the Sejm), to continue with the democratization process in Valruzia.

Coup attempt!
Government and deputies held hostage; coup perpetrators later arrested after lack of support
September 5627
Today, on the evening of September 11, 5627, an attempt to overthrow Valruzia's still nascent democracy has unfolded within the walls of the Sejm in their brand new headquarters. Thanks to the meeting being broadcasted live both in radio and in the website of the Sejm, transcription from the moment has been followed by thousands of citizens as events have been changing rapidly during this afternoon and following into the evening.
As Sejm deputies are still under discussion on the new Valruzian Constitution, there are many debates taking place as to which changes introduce and which things to modify and replace. At 17:00, there was a roll-call vote for the adoption of one amendment that would turn the unitary state into a Republic. However, at 17:04, chaos erupted when 100 armed soldiers, led by Lieutenant Juliusz Strzele, stormed the chamber.
Lt. Strzele then proceeded to point his gun at the head of Marshall of the Sejm Katarzyna Roszkowska, demanding her to move from her place and sit with the other deputies. and firing a shot to the Sejm's roof. After refusing this demand, Lt. Strzele ordered the soldiers to force everyone present to lie on the floor, with most deputies complying except for four: said Marshall Roszkowska, Military Junta leader, de facto Head of State and government of Valruzia and Chief of the Defense Staff Marcel Szumski, Minister for Internal Issues, Captain General Gustav Pradinski; and Communist Party leader Karolina Pietrzyk, who remained seated calmly.
CDS Szumski, as the highest-ranking military officer in the room, confronted Strzele and ordered him to stand down, refusing to comply with the armed insurrection and demanding an explanation for this said insurrection. After a brief struggle and a shot fired into the air, Szumski, 68-year-old, stood his ground and defiantly refused to sit despite Strzele's attempts to force him to the floor. As a result, this ended with Strzele retreating to the rostrum of the Sejm and Szumski returning to his seat.
After several tense minutes, the deputies resumed their positions and the captain of the military unit demanded silence and declared that everyone would await the arrival of "the competent military authority." As the standoff continued, CDS Szumski attempted to speak again but was silenced by gunfire. Strzele then forcefully escorted Szumski out of the chamber when he demanded once again an explanation, and the exchange turned hostile as Strzele, dismissing Szumski's authority, declared, "You are henceforth and no longer the authority of anything!".
Simultaneously, in Brzansk, Captain Waldemar Falkowski had moved to attempt to arrest Major Iwan Gabris, known for his rebellion against the Morawski regime orders to shoot the protestors during the 5623-5624 Valruzian protests and commander of the region's troops; by deploying 4,000 loyalist soldiers and 30 tanks onto the streets in a bid to convince other military leaders to join the coup. At 19:00, Brzansk's radio stations began broadcasting the declaration of a state of emergency. However, the coup's momentum began to falter as the street began to be flooded with citizens demanding a halt to this insurrection and as the commander of the Borderland-Central Air Base Tactical Command threatened to deploy fighter jets against the tanks in the city.
Back in Nowogard, the coup was further undermined following the news that Celestyn Strzelczyk, the former prime minister under Mateusz Morawski and who was in unknown whereabouts, had been arrested when attempting to enter the country. As he was the "competent military authority" the coup perpretators were waiting, upon airing of this news via TV and as it was unbeknownst to them until then that the Valruzian Secret Police had already a trace of his movements and as soon as he set a foot in home soil he was properly arrested, the coup began to unravel.
As the night wore on, Waldemar Falkowski was finally arrested in Brzansk after calling off his plans. With the Sejm building surrounded by the military and the police, Lt. Strzele finally freed the deputies who were held hostage throughout the ordeal. As they emerged one by one from the chamber, they all shouted "Long Live Freedom". Lt. Strzele has been the last one to abandon the building, and has been handcuffed and put into custody by the military.
Following this event, the deputies have decided to continue with the session as a sign for all Valruzians, and in its first speech to the Chamber following the attempted coup, CDS Szumski declared:
Quote:"I want to say it loud and clear now: the winds of democracy cannot by stopped by mere grains of sand, and we will rebuild one that will last for centuries! If you disagree with this, you are free to leave the country, but let me be clear on this: there will be an investigation, and if we find out that you were involved, may God help you, because we will not".
In the streets, as the events were unfolding, many feared that their little breath of fresh air after Morawski's rule was coming to an abrupt end, while the figures of all those who "refused to bow down" are being heavily praised, such as Marshall Roszkowska or KPW leader Karolina Pietrzyk, the only politicians not to be intimidated by the coup perpetrators. More shocking were the news that Ignacy Zelazny, leader of the National Salvation party, had been arrested along with 4 of his fellow parliamentarians, under accusations of having let the military inside the building and therefore having allowed the attempted coup to unravel. If this is proven to be true, this could lead to the dissolution of the National Salvation party, the first banning of a party in the still so young Valruzia.
Some conspirationists are passing the word through social media that this attempted coup might have been just an attempt my CDS Szumski to consolidate his figure in a futurible Presidential elections, as it would be highly unlikely that as highest military commander in the country he had no notice of this event was going to happen. However, for the moment the police has given no evidence of more people involved, and the arrests have been limited to those directly involved in the coup in the main cities around the country and the five National Salvation deputies, who have been stripped of their voting rights until they are cleared of all wrong-doing or involvement.

Presidential elections settled
Sejm pass law to enable presidential elections next year
March 5628
The three candidates leading the latests polls (from left to right): KPW Karolina Pietrzyk, Military Junta leader Marcel Szumski and ON Bernard Łukaszewski
Today, the Sejm of Valruzia has approved a law that will allow for Presidential elections to be celebrated next year, therefore electing a new Head of State for Valruzia.
The law, set to be provisional until the full Constitution is drafted, voted and approved by the Sejm and the citizens, establishes the title of "President of Valruzia" for the Head of State, and clearly specifies that it is intended to last until new elections are called and the Constitution is approved. Therefore, it does not establish a fixed term for the elected President, but rather the winner is set to serve as the Valruzian Head o State until the Constitution is finished and approved.
According to the Marshall of the Sejm, Katarzyna Roszkowska, its purpose is merely to "move away from the Military Junta and continue walking the democratization path" of the nation.
With 541 votes in favor and 60 against - all of them coming from the ranks of National Salvation, whose leader Ignacy Zelazny and four other deputies are serving provisional prison time following the events of the 5627 Valruzian coup attempt. The party spokesperson has clarified that they are not against the democratization process but rather believe that elections should only be celebrated once the Constitution as a whole is passed and enabled. Some deputies have accused National Salvation of trying to buy more time for his leader to be able to run, or in other case, find a suitable candidate for the party.
The law also establishes a two-round system if no candidate receives over 50% of the votes, as well as the following requisites to stand as a candidate for the elections, whose exact date is yet to be determined by the Sejm:- Be in possession -exclusively - of Valruzian citizenship.
- Be over 30 years old and under 80 years old.
- Have resided in national soil for at least 20 years.
- Speak fluent Valruzian AND Luthorian.
Yes, the approved law specifies that candidates MUST speak Luthorian apart from native Valruzian and also settles an age limit for candidates, apart from the need of holding ONLY Valruzian citizenship. Leaders of the main parties have defended this measures as a way to ensure that the position of Valruzian Head of State is not compromised by any means and that as representative of the nation as a whole, whoever gets elected is able to speak with international counterparts.
The main leaders of Valruzian political parties have already announced their intention to contend these elections with the exception of Liberal Alliance leader Wiktoria Pasciak, whose extremely weak performance in various diverse polls - under 3% of the vote - has lead her to assume this decision.
Despite the early popularity of CDS Marcel Szumski as a clear front-runner for the position, a population eager to finally leave behind everything related to the Morawki dictatorship as well as unfounded rumors that place Szumski as the brainmaster behind the failed 5627 coup in the Sejm to boost his own figure have affected is candidacy, although he has yet to announce whether he will run for the position or not.
Early polls placed CDS Szumski to battle Krystian Malecki, leader of Sovereign Valruzia and winner of the constituent elections, who was already announced his intention to run. However, just one year later, the last two polls released predict both of them to lose in the first round, albeit Szumski still trailing close to the second position, and place two new frontrunners: National Renewal leader Bernard Łukaszewski and Communist Party leader Karolina Pietrzyk. The popularity of both leaders started to emerge following the coup, albeit due to different reasons: Łukaszewski is seen as the only conservative candidate following the arrest of NZ leader Zelazny and therefore the only viable representative for the conservative population, whilst Pietrzyk has been widely praised for her stand during the coup attempt in the Sejm, with the former now leading the polls. However, Pietrzyk is also the candidate that most voters say they "are completely certain" not to vote for, with almost a 40% of the population saying so. This screams trouble for her, since if she does not command a straight majority of the votes in the first round, she will have it even more difficult in the event of a face-to-face second round against Łukaszewski.
The battle is open and until a date is definitively settled, there's a lot of ground to change in yet another year before this election takes place.
Sejm passes new Valruzian flag and coat of arms
The constituent Sejm has also voted the new flag of the nation, along with a new coat of arms, passing the resolution by 596-0:
The colors of the flag, blue, red, yellow and white, along with its symbols, are said to have a deep meaning. This is how Marshall Roszkowska has described it:
Quote:"The predominant blue in our new flag represents stability and confidence, necessary for all our people after this turbulent period, as well as our proximity to the sea, from where all of us come from; the white stripe, filled with a smaller red stripe, represent the peace finally achieved in our nation and the sacrifice made by thousands and millions of citizens of Valruzia to achieve this peace, the blood spilled by martyrs such as Tobert Obrzut, which leads to the color yellow and its symbols: the spark of revolution that lies within each of our citizens, the laurel wreath to represent all of us as equal and the sun to represent that there is always a new dawn for our nation."
The flag seems to gather unanimous support among the population, with many people from different ideologies reassuring that it looks "powerful" and embraces every citizen of Valruzia.

Ignacy Zelazny sentenced to life prison
Top court issues verdict for the 5627 coup perpetrators
July 5628
Ignacy Zelazny during his declaration at his trial
Valruzian top court has issued today its verdict in regards of the main perpetrators of the 5627 Valruzian coup attempt. The court has moved quickly and swiftly to determine a final resolution for this case as to not to interfere with the Presidential elections that shall take place next year and that, in case of a non-guilty verdict, Mr. Zelazny was supposed to run.
Not anymore though. The court has sentenced Ignacy Zelazny - along with Juliusz Strzele and Waldemar Falkowski, the main military officers behind the attempted coup - to life imprisonment under the grounds of conspiracy and attempt to subvert the constitutional order. The court has also barred the three of them from running for political office for life, and has stripped down all the honors received by the now former militaries.
Zelazny, 34, was seen as a young promising rising star in the new Valruzian political landscape as head of the National Salvation party, who gained support from the most conservative faction of the population. Now, he sees all his dreams shattered as he is heading to a prison in Valusia, where he will have to spend the rest of his lifetime for his decision to collaborate with the coup perpetrators.
The other military personnel involved in the attempted coup have all received a 15-year prison sentence, and the four other deputies of National Salvation suspected of having collaborated with the coup have seen their rights as deputies stripped down and now have been sentenced to 10-year prison sentence each.
However, one of the main questions was whether the courts would ban the National Salvation party, an extent the Court has deemed not necessary since it believes the involvement of some of its members "does not represent the position of its members as a whole", as its other deputies have been quick in condemn the actions of their former partners and have never made any declaration in support of the Morawski regime - at least while they have been serving as deputies. Therefore, the National Salvation party is now in the search of a new candidate to present to the presidential elections, although it is unclear if they can find anyone suitable and above all, how will the population receive this candidacy.
And when is the time for Morawski and Strzelczyk?
The population, however, is eager to know when will the trials of former Head of the Valruzian Unitary State and its prime minister, Szczepan Morawski and Celestyn Strzelczyk take place. Being already almost 5 years since Morawski's arrest, some of the population start to grow impatient as they seek justice and reparations for all the damages done by his dictatorship.
The family of Robert Obrzut, whose death sparked the whole revolution that ended up overthrowing Morawki's dictatorship, has appeared before TV to demand the trial "to move forward once and for all" and to hold those detainees "responsible for all his crimes against humanity and against the nation".

Valruzia has new President!
KPW leader Karolina Pietrzyk becomes Head of State after beating National Renewal candidate in 2nd round
March 5629
Karolina Pietrzyk (middle) celebrating electoral success and her upcoming investiture as first President of the free Valruzia
Valruzia has spoken. After a first round that saw the top two candidates predicted by the latest polls - Communist Party of Valruzia leader Karolina Pietrzyk and center-right National Renewal leader Bernard Lukaszewski -, the results of the second round has been just published and see Mrs. Pietrzyk announced as the upcoming first Head of State of the new democratic Valruzia after gaining 58% of the vote against 42% for the conservative candidate. Participation was up to 71%, down 10% from the first round.
It was not even close. Despite National Salvation deciding in the last minute not to run any candidate in order to avoid any vote split even in first round and announcing their support for Mr. Lukaszewski, some people argue that it was precisely this move what ultimately costed National Renewal the elections. Dragging the support of a party now seen as complicit with the previous coup attempt might have avoided many votes from the first round from other parties to gather around his candidacy, some sources now leak from the inside of his campaign. The result was that Mrs. Pietrzyk won in four of the five Voivodeships, with only Chynberg - the least populated of the five - coming out in support of Mr. Lukaszewski. Big cities poured out in support of the KPW candidate, with only three out of the top 15 most populated cities backing the center-right candidate. Even most of the countryside backed the communists' presidential campaign, whose mostly ceremonial role might have played a key role in not gathering as much anti-vote as they could have got as pointed out by previous pollsters.
In fact, only Sovereign Valruzia came out in support of Mrs. Pietrzyk following the results of the first round. The rest of candidates - namely center-left Dignity and Progress candidate Amelia Korzeniewska and independent CDS Marcel Szumski - abstained from clearly backing any of the top two candidates, instead giving "freedom of choice" to their supporters.
Despite being considered the top early favorite to become the new Head of State of Valruzia, CDS Marcel Szumski, current leader of the Military Junta and widely seen as one of the key actors to overcome the Morawski dictatorship, failed to reach second round, barely missing it by a 1.2 margin against Lukaszewski (21.4 vs. 22.6). The unexpectedly good result of Mrs. Pietrzyk in the first round (25.7%), together with the still strong performance of Sovereign Valruzia candidate Krystian Malecki (20.2%) - with GiP Kornezieska collecting the 10.1% left - placed the KPW leader as the favorite to win, as many of the SW and GiP voters already stated their preference for the communist candidate over the conservative one. The main doubt was among Szumski voters, which are believed to be among the 10% drop in turnout for the second round.
Quote:"Now we have a COMMUNIST president?"
said Igor Kram, who clarified that he had voted for Szumski in the first round and for Lukaszewski in the second one Quote:"We have fought against a dictatorship to now have another president that for sure will want to install another dictatorship, or what's worse, a FEMALE dictatorship?"
Others, however, are thrilled with this result.
Quote:"It represents that we have finally moved on from the oppresion of the Valruzian Unitary State. To have a leftist woman as the first Head of State of Valruzia following a dictatorship it suuuuuch a powerful statement, don't ya think?"
were the words of Genowefa Mak, who voted for her in both rounds despite having voted for Sovereign Valruzia in the legislative elections.
Now, Karolina Pietrzyk will have to leave her seat in the Sejm to fulfill her duties as duly elected President of Valruzia, among those the most important one: stamp her sign in the upcoming Valruzian Constitution if it is approved in referendum by the Valruzian people. According to internal sources, the Sejm is defining the last strings left and will present it during this year, just in time for the year 5630. Karolina Pietrzyk will stay in the role for 6 years, when she will be able to contest for her reelection.

Constitutional referendum passed, Valruzia has new Constitution
The referendum was overwhelmingly approved in all five Voivodeships; 91% of turnout achieved
October 5629
The newly renamed Constitution Square in Nowogard was filled with citizens celebrating and enjoying the concerts
And so it ends. The Morawski regime is officially over. Despite surviving only in technicalities, today marks the end of its existence by all means, after Valruzian citizens have gone en masse to vote whether to approve or reject the new Valruzian Constitution drafted by the constitutional Sejm after almost four years of work.
Although some citizens started to fear that the day would never come, today that fear is gone. With a turnout of 91%, no one can claim that this new Valruzian Constitution has only decided by a few. Almost 81 million valid votes, of which 84.6% (68 million) have decided to vote in favor of the Constitution, with 15% of citizens voting against it (nearly 12.5 million citizens). Valusia and Chynberg are the Voivodeships with the highest percentage of support for the Constitution, whereas Gryfit is both the Voivodeship with the lowest support and the lowest participation. You can see the full results HERE.
The new Constitution, which you can take a look HERE, turns Valruzia into a parliamentary Republic, with a Head of State (President) and a Head of Government (Chancellor), a Parliament (Sejm) and a clear separation of powers between them all. Valruzia becomes a unitary but heavily decentralized republic, where each Voivodeship shall celebrate their own regional elections to elect their regional governments and parliaments, with the following preliminary title:
Quote:Valruzia is hereby established as a social and democratic State, subject to the rule of law, which advocates freedom, justice, equality and political pluralism as highest values of its legal system. National sovereignty belongs to the Valruzian people, from whom all state powers emanate. The political form of the Valruzian State is the Parliamentary Republic.
Section 2. The Constitution is based on the indissoluble unity of the Valruzian Nation, the common and indivisible homeland of all Valruzians; it recognizes and guarantees the right to self-government of the nationalities and regions of which it is composed and the solidarity among them all.
Surprisingly for some, not so surprising for others since she was elected as President not a year ago, thanks to the political influence of the Communist Party of Valruzia and its leader Karolina Pietrzyk, and with the consensus of the other "fathers of the constitution", the right to State intervention in private companies in the public interest and the facilitation of access by workers to ownership of the means of production have been also enshrined in the Constitution.
Quote:Valruzia is back on the international stage, and we invite everyone from Seleya and from the whole Terra to come, visit and develop a friendly relationship with our new flourishing country.
has said Karolina Pietrzyk before a cheering crowd that was starting to meet in the newly named Constitution Square, in the heart of Nowogard.
A concert by various famous Valruzian artists followed to celebrate the approval of the Constitution, and younger and older generations danced together to welcome the new era in front of Valruzia.
[Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIlCwSBs9_Y]
Now, legislative elections are due to be celebrated to elect a new Sejm in charge of appointing this time the first Valruzian democratic government, but they are due to happen next year according to the temporary provisions included in the Constitution. The leader of the Military Junta, Marcel Szumski, who did not manage to become President of the nation he helped coming back from authoritarianism, also made a surprise appearance next to President Pietrzyk, and both of them shared an emotional hug that also represents the feelings of many, many Valruzian families.

Nowik becomes Chancellor
Sejm has approved Sovereign Valruzia leader's cabinet proposal in charge of rebuilding the nation
February 5630
SW leader Szymon Nowik during his voting as Chancellor of Valruzia
Following the results of the 5630 Valruzian elections, which you can see HERE, Sovereign Valruzia retained his position as most-voted party albeit with 25 less seats and an overall 8.7% decrease in support compared to the previous elections. The electoral system reform, which saw a proportional distribution of seats among the Voivodeships according to their population, as well as the overall excellent performance of the Communist Party of Valruzia thanks to the still popular figure of its former leader and now President of Valruzia Karolina Pietrzyk and its strong performance in what is becoming its stronghold of Kampania were among the two best explanations that experts gave to this decrease in SW performance. The other big winner of the night was the recently created Valruzian Alliance, led by the lawyer of former deputy and leader of National Salvation, Ignacy Zelazny, who last year was sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the 5627 Valruzian coup attempt. The party amassed 10% of the vote and 61 deputies in the 601-seat Sejm, whilst its main competitor and former party of Zelazny, National Salvation, merely got a 6% and lost half of its former seats.
During the electoral night after the announcement of the results, Szymon Nowik, leader of Sovereign Valruzia and the cousin of murdered student Robert Obrzut whose death sparked the revolution that toppled the Morawski regime, announced that he was ready to talk with everyone to give Valruzia "the best government in charge of rebuilding the nation and bring Valruzia back to its former glory". The same electoral night, KPW general secretary Tobiasz Bernas - elected as Marshall of Kampania - announced his party support to a government led by Sovereign Valruzia, although they would not want a place in it and instead would support it in the Sejm. Other parties, such as the center-right and election runner-up National Renewal or the Liberal Alliance announced immediately their intention to be in the opposition to any kind of government led by Sovereign Valruzia.
One month after the election, the Sejm has voted in its new leadership and has elected who will be the first official Chancellor of Valruzia, putting an end to the Military Junta rule and marking the official start of the full democratic Valruzia. KPW candidate Tatjana Borkowska was elected as Marshall of the Sejm - equivalent to president of the chamber - with the support of Sovereign Valruzia. However, this election sparked the first conflict of the legislature, as Dignity and Progress was supposed to vote in favor of the nomination but instead chose to vote for their own candidate, leaving Mrs. Borkowska with no absolute majority and triggering a second round. Following the voting, Mr. Bernas - who will combine his role as national deputy with his position as Marshall of Kampania - called GiP's decision as "shameful" and "ridiculous", especially after the agreement in which the KPW would vote in favor of including the GiP in the upcoming government. From the GiP's leadership they justify their vote in Mrs. Borkowska's resume, citing her "violent activism" and "lack of experience" as the main reasons behind their vote.
After the election of the Chamber, the proposed Chancellor had the time to speak before the Sejm in order to present his government plan before being voted in or not. Mr. Nowik unfolded a plan based in three axis, mainly in the fields of economy, industry and science, and emphasized his intention of defending a sovereign Valruzia. Mr. Nowik's candidacy was approved by 348 votes in favor and 216 against, with National Salvation surprisingly casting 37 abstentions. Its new leader, Janina Rzaca, justified the decision in giving Mr. Nowik "a vote of confidence" regarding his economic and industrial plan", but that the abstention by no means was a "sign of support for the upcoming far-left government".
A day later, Mr. Nowik has presented his government composition with 16 ministers, including 3 independents (Justice, Agriculture and Environment) and the leader of Dignity and Progress as Deputy chancellor and minister of Internal Affairs. This government becomes the first official government of the new Valruzia, and puts an end to the interim rule of the Military Junta. Its leader, Marcel Szumski, has personally congratulated Mr. Nowik for his election as Chancellor and has announced his retirement from the military and the public eye.
In the upcoming months, Nowik's government will present an "ambitious economic and industrial plan" aimed at building a strong background for Valruzian and international companies, and placing Valruzia in the centre of the international trade market, especially in regards to raw materials such as copper, nickel and Rare Terran Elements, all of which have big deposits within Valruzia.
Quote:"Valruzia is back to the international stage and Valruzians will soon see a huge improvement in their quality of life, that I can assure you"
has claimed Mr. Nowik, who has also announced the creation of three research institutes: the Valruzian Space Agency, the Nuclear Research Council and the National Centre for Scientific Research, all of them aimed at placing Valruzia "at the centre of the scientific and research field" and the main source of drugs, medicine, knowledge, trust and confidence for scientists around the world.
However, Mr. Nowik election as Chancellor has already sparked first criticisms. Being openly gay and living with his domestic partner since the fall of the Morawski regime, various LGBT advocacy groups had called for him to restore same-sex marriage in the nation. However, he has said that it was an specific issue that was "not on the priority list for a first government in charge of a huge task such as the reconstruction of decades of Valruzian decay", prompting protests and public complaints, accusing him of "neglecting who he is".
Nowik has invited the leaders of numerous nations around Terra to come visit and establish formal relationships with the now free nation, and has offered his minister of Foreign Affairs and himself to start touring around Terra to arrange various beneficial deals for Valruzia.

Government unveils massive economic plan
Nowik's cabinet aims for an integral resources strategy targeted Valruzia's main natural resources to boost national economy
October 5630
Plane turbines, one of the many final products to be developed in Valruzia
Szymon Nowik's government has today announced a massive investment plan with the aim to boost Valruzian economy by targeting Valruzia's main primary resources in order to develop high-quality and necessary products around Terra, citing plane turbines, solar panels, cables, electronic chips, batteries, air turbines, and metal alloys.
Valruzian minister of Industry Janusz Kostecki has appeared today in an official presentation along with Chancellor Szymon Nowik to develop the strategic plan, that will put into use the nation's different resources: copper and nickel, silicon, iron and Rare Terran Metals, along with the small amounts of sulfur.
The minister has first started citing the main uses that could be given to these elements, necessary in many key industries:
Quote:1. Electronic and Technological Industry:
-Copper and RTM: Essential for circuits, cables, electric motors and high-tech components.
-Silicon: Fundamental for the manufacture of chips, solar panels and semiconductors.
-Nickel: Rechargeable batteries (such as lithium-nickel), electronics and advanced alloys.
2. Renewable Energy and Electrification
-Copper and silicon: Key to wind turbines, solar panels and efficient power grids.
-Rare metals: Needed for permanent magnets in wind generators and electric vehicle motors.
3. Metallurgical Industry and Advanced Alloys
-Nickel + iron: Production of stainless steel and high-temperature resistant superalloys (used in aeronautics and energy).
-Copper + rare metals: Conductive and corrosion-resistant alloys.
4. Automotive and Sustainable Transportation
-Batteries: Nickel is crucial for electric vehicle batteries
-Lightweight components: Aluminum-nickel or iron-silicon alloys to reduce weight and improve efficiency.
5. Chemical Industry and Fertilizers
-Sulfur: Used in sulfuric acid for fertilizers and metal processing.
6. Defense and Aerospace Technology
-Rare metals and nickel: Alloys for aircraft turbines, missiles and satellites.
-Copper and iron: electronic components and shielding.
Minister Kostecki has divided Valruzia's industrial plan into 3 different phases, reaching a span of around 30 years. Chancellor Nowik has stated that although 30 years seem like a long timelapse, he hopes that even if Sovereign Valruzia or himself are no longer in government, he hopes that whoever is in charge will continue with what he has called "the plan of the century", that will bring Valruzia back to the forefront of global industry.
According to minister Kostecki, PHASE 1, STRATEGIC INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT, will span 1-10 years and will focus of the following:
-To create niquel-iron-copper-specialised industrial parks for electronic components, wind and aeronautical turbines, high-resistance stainless steel.
-To create semiconductor plants to use silicium and magnets with RTM for electric motors and generators.
-To develop nickel-lithium battery factories for electric vehicles and energy storage.
-To build solar panels thanks tp silicon and conductive metals.
-To use sulfur processing for fertilizers and sulfuric acid, a key product for mining and electronics.
For this purpose, the government will develop a specific economic policy aimed at gain investment and successfully finish the phase to aim for the next one. Among these policies, the minister has included tax incentives for companies that process raw materials locally, aprogressive ban on export of raw rare metals, which will only allow the sale of manufactured products, and the creation of a “Sovereign Fund for Strategic Minerals” to reinvest profits in R&D. With these measures, Sovereign Valruzia places the nation at the core of this plan.
For PHASE 2, TECHNOLOGICAL AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, aimed at a timespan of 10-20 years, focus of the building of specific institutions to target the materials, citing among them the proposed Valruzian Institute for Advanced Materials (IVMA), National Clean Energy Laboratory (LV-CleanTech) and Center for Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing.
Finally, for the proposed PHASE 3, to last over the next decades, the goals are said to be:
- Recycling of rare metals in order to avoid external dependence.
- Minimize environmental impact of mining with clean technologies.
- Diversification towards aerospace and defense industries with proprietary alloys.
With this plan, named VALRUZIA 5700, the government will target the following industries:
Quote:1. Electronics and Semiconductors
-Chip and integrated circuit manufacturing using silicon and copper.
-Components for telecommunications such as antennas or fiber optics.
-Advanced sensors with rare metals for robotics and defense.
-Displays and touch panels.
2. Batteries and Energy Storage.
-Nickel-lithium (Ni-Li) and solid-state batteries for electric vehicles and power grids.
-Battery recycling by prioritizing recovery of nickel, copper and rare metals.
3. Renewable Energies
-Manufacture of solar panels.
-Wind generators and magnets for turbines.
-Green hydrogen.
4. Automotive and Advanced Transportation.
-Batteries, motors and local electronics for electric vehicles.
-Copper and light alloy catenaries to be used for high-speed trains.
-Strong and light alloys to be used in drones and unmanned aircraft.
5. Advanced Metallurgy and Special Alloys
-Stainless steels and superalloys such as nickel + iron for aeronautics.
-High efficiency conductors with copper and rare metals for electrical networks.
-Composite materials such as silicon and other metals for the aerospace industry.
6. Construction and Smart Infrastructures
-High conductivity cables.
-Windows and solar coatings.
7. Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry
-Nanomaterials for medicine (metal oxides for cancer treatments).
-Next-generation fertilizers (processed sulfur for agriculture).
8. Aerospace & Defense
-Satellites and space components (light and heat-resistant alloys).
-Military sensors and secure communications (rare metals for stealth technology).
-Surveillance drones and missiles (advanced electronics and efficient engines).
9. Circular Economy and Sustainable Mining
-Rare metal recycling (from e-waste and batteries).
-Mine rehabilitation (with silicon for solar panels on mining sites).
Now, the government will also seek a compromise from all parties in the Sejm parliament in order to assure that this plan, or at least its main core, is not changed and continues its development regardless of the sign of the national government.
This plan is also assured to attract many international investors, although Chancellor Nowik has already said that Sovereign Valruzia will always defend the nation as the main actor, and any foreign company wishing to invest in the project shall know that in advancement and whilst they will be allowed to do so and will get incentives indeed for this, foreign companies will not be allowed to get a majority share of this project, but will be taken into account for future developments, especially if they are national public companies and not private companies.

First official Presidential visit
Karolina Pietrzyk will make her first official State visit to Xsampa to discuss trade agreements
December 5630
Communist leading figure and current President of Valruzia, Karolina Pietrzyk, has announced her first official State visit to a foreign country since being elected for the position. Following the Valruzia 5700 economic plan announced by the government of Szymon Nowik, the Dovanian nation has been one of the most interested in reaching a deal with Valruzia, seeing the full potential of what Nowik's government aims to develop.
The President thanked Xsampa for its unusual yet traditional gift to celebrate the establishment of relations between both countries, and the Ministry of Environment Dariusz Cwik has announced that they will take care with the upmost respect of the gifted yak. After the official visit of Comared Ladakh, now it is the turn of Valruzian authorities to pay a visit to the Dovanian country, with a delegation chaired by President Pietrzyk and Minister of Trade Janusz Kostecki, one of the masterminds behind the Valruzia 5700 economic plan.
Quote:"I think we got ourselves a pretty nice deal in hands"
has said minister Kostecki. Quote:"After decades of isolationism and ostracism, Valruzia is emerging once more, with a clear project in hands and the willingness to cooperate with other nations but always respecting the idea that Valruzia is what matters the most for us. And we think that the Xsampa governments fully shares the same vision of the world, and I therefore think this is the start of a very nice friendship between our two countries."
Quote:"I believe this visit will further reassure the commitment between our two countries in respect to this huge deal"
has added President Pietrzyk Quote:"My aim is to look for all our citizens, and it is within my powers to make these movements to make sure we have the best allies we can get in the world sphere."
The Valruzian delegation will spend three days in Xsampa, where they will also supersede the opening of the first Valruzian embassy in Dovanian soil, "another cornerstone for Valruzian diplomacy followin the fall of the dictatorship", added the President.

Citizens to get compulsory military training
Valruzian government presents legislation aimed at giving mandatory one-year military course to general population
January 5631
Valruzian minister of Defence, Damian Zaborowski, has presented today the government's plan to introduce compulsory one-year military service and training for all citizens at the age of 18. The bill, already labelled as controversial by some, has been framed as a democratic reform to professionalize the armed forces after decades of dictatorship, blending military training with education and disaster-response skills, as well as to "make citizens more ready in any conflictive future".
As some citizens have already expressed worries of introducing such a kind of service merely five years after the fall of the Valruzian Unitary State and the dictatorship of Szczepan Morawski, the government has stressed that this "is not a return to militarism". The core of the bill presented includes a flexible scheduling so recruits can choose morning, evening, or weekend drills to avoid clashes with university studies, along with academic incentives thanks to certain parts of the military training being focused in fields like cybersecurity, field medicine, or engineering, which would grant university credits; and a transparent paycheck for every participant involving 80% of the national minimum wage.
The program, named "Patriot+", avoids combat-heavy training, focusing instead on:
- Self-defense and martial arts (with disciplines such as krav maga or tactical judo), in order to prioritize discipline over aggression.
- Civilian crisis response, aimed at military training for disaster relief, cyber threat awareness and emergency medical training.
- Strengthening of democratic values, focused on workshops on constitutional rights and military ethics to distance the program from past abuses, including educating the younger generations on the crimes perpretated by the Morawski dicatorship, its differences with what the military should be and Constitutional classes about the new Valruzian Constitution, under the motto: "A military that serves, doesn’t rule"
Minister Zaborowski, whose father was a former dissident of the regime, used the announcement of the plan to acknowledged public skepticism and fears surrounding the government's idea:
Quote:"I need to make this clear that this isn’t the conscription of our parents’ era. We’re building a force that protects freedoms—not suppresses them. The dictatorship exploited our military; now, we’re reclaiming it for the people. Our citizens need to understand that a prepared society is one that is more likely to successfully prevent another dictatorship like the one we successfully defeated from happening again."
Despite some criticism regarding the plan, different polls show around 61% support among youth, with many of them lured by priority hiring in public-sector jobs, good first salary and the perspective of a good fitness training. Also, it has been said that the bill will add oversight by civilian councils to prevent abuses.
Another part of the proposed plan includes a voluntary training for people among 19-30, which covers most of the citizens born under the dictatorship, with a separate plan targeted specifically at them.
If passed by the Sejm, the program will launch in January 5632. The Communist Party of Valruzia, lead by Kampania Marshall Tobiasz Bernas, has announced his party vote in favor the bill, surprising supporters and detractors alike. Mr. Bernas has cited among the reasons for his endorsement to call for "a People’s army for a socialist future" having a democratized military serving the working class rather than elite interests and therefore breaking from the old dictatorship’s "officer-class privilege"; mentioning education as liberation for the people and job guarantees for Valruzian citizens; and defending the anti-fascist resistance spirit during the dictatorship to defend the inclusion of martial arts and cyber-training to be used against far-right militias, but still he has given freedom of vote to his deputies. However, the bill is expected to pass with National Salvation also announced its vote in favor. The only party openly against it is surprisingly the coalition partners of Sovereign Valruzia, the center-left Dignity and Progress, who have said this is a "wrong step", but has declared that this is in no way a fracture in the still young ruling coalition government.
