A few hours ago, the president of Utaristan, Yunis Arslonov, signed a decree that establishes the Special Office of Anti-Corruption Investigations as part of his endeavours against corruption. This new office will be overseen directly by the president and thus independent of any intervention by rogue elements of the government. The Special Office will be headed by Special Director Damir Orozaliev, an experienced police officer and former Chief of Cise Police.

According to the presidential decree, the new office will have wide-ranging powers to investigate any person suspected of corruption, including even ministers, members of the National Assembly, and other high-ranking politicians and bureaucrats. Special Director Orozaliev has released his first statement at the helm of the Special Office, in which he thanked President Arslonov for this opportunity and promised to root out all corruption that rots our country from within.

While people of Utaristan and loyal servants of the state fully stand behind this course of action, some traitors, especially from within the corrupt National Assembly, have called this "dictatorial", claiming that President Arslonov will be able to frame and arrest anyone. While these accusations are simply absurd and show how little loyalty the snakes that plague our homeland have, President Arslonov has responded anyway, explaining that these are simply measures to rid our country of the rot of corruption, and no honest servant of the state has anything to fear.

Anti-corruption office reveals far-reaching corruption within the highest echelons of power

Mere months after the establishment of the Special Office of Anti-Corruption Investigations overseen by the President himself with the purpose of rooting out corruption in Utaristan, its leader, Special Director Damir Orozaliev, has discovered that the rot runs deeper than anyone could have expected. Special Director Orozaliev, as a loyal servant of the homeland, has submitted a report directly to President Yunis Arslonov, who has then decided to make it available to the Utaristan State Media Corporation.

In the report Orozaliev reveals evidence linking various important figures in the Utaristani government, like ministers and members of the National Assembly, to efforts to enrich themselves at the expense of the Utaristani people and the homeland. On the list there are figures such as Minister of Information Abduhaliq Ilyas, Minister of Development Soli Toychiyev, Minister of Justice Elyor Shakirov, Speaker of the National Assembly Vali Khudayberdiyev, and most scandalously, former President of Utaristan Nur Sayrami.

However, people within the Utaristani government weren't the only ones to betray our homeland. The Special Office has also found links between various public figures, the aforementioned officials, and an illegal subversive movement aiming to destroy our nation known as the United Democratic Front of Utaristan. Among people revealed to be UDFU sympathisers are people such as Ismail Zhaparov, a lecturer at State University of Cise, known for his contribution to the study of demographical changes in Utaristan, and Olivia Kaplan, a well-known environmentalist activist.

All the people implicated in the report have been promptly dismissed from their functions and arrested, except for ex-President Sayrami, who has managed to flee to Kundrati. All arrested will face trial on charges of anti-homeland activities, corruption, and plenty more, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested extradition of Sayrami. President Arslonov has also quickly appointed new servants of the homeland in their place to ensure that the state apparatus continues running smoothly.

President Arslonov ruthlessly purges opposition

Several months after the establishment of the powerful and unaccountable Special Office of Anti-Corruption Activities, overseen directly by himself, Arslonov has used it as a pretext to arrest a myriad of major and minor influential figures within the Utaristani government and society, who could endanger his position, doing so practically overnight.

While the accused can be somewhat split between the conservative camp, ministers and other collaborators of the party-state, and the democratic camp, activists and sympathisers of the democratic underground, Arslonov and his attack dog, Special Director Damir Orozaliev, have tied the spineless supporters of the party-state and the brave heroes of resistance together, accusing them of the so-called anti-homeland activities and collaboration with the United Democratic Front of Utaristan.

While the United Democratic Front of Utaristan believes that no person should be persecuted for their opinions unless they directly endanger someone else, we still believe that former members of the Council of Ministers and the National Assembly have committed large-scale corruption and fraud, and we believe that the trial should be transparent and fair and not just a pretext to purge opponents. We also demand the immediate release of Ismail Zhaparov and Olivia Kaplan, innocent citizens whose only crime is wishing for freedom for the people of Utaristan.

A few months after the arrest of Ismail Zhaparov and Olivia Kaplan and sporadic protests around the country that were quickly suppressed by the oppressive party-state, the spark of resistance has been reignited as the sham trial by President Yunis Arslonov and his puppets at the Ministry of Justice has concluded. All accused were found guilty of the so-called anti-homeland activities and corruption and sentenced to life in prison. While we support the trial of former members of the Council of Ministers and the National Assembly, it is clear that this trial was just a way for Arslonov to purge opposition, both within the party and the populace, as he has refused to disband the unaccountable Special Office of Anti-Corruption Investigations. Following this conclusion brave volunteers of the United Democratic Front of Utaristan have begun to organise protests, despite efforts of the state.

Due to Arslonov's failure to deliver any reforms that could have been expected of him and his increasing authoritarianism, more and more citizens have awoken from political apathy caused by decades of dictatorship and gathered to protest in Cise, the capital city. In recent weeks both the number of protests and protestors have been increasing, counting six thousand people, however they have yet to spread outside of Cise. Information about the protest is suppressed by Arslonov's regime, and so we call on all friends of the UDFU to help and organise local protests. We also call on democratic nations of the world, namely our brothers in revolution in Tukarali and Valruzia, to not remain apathetic and refuse to collaborate with the oppressive party-state of President Arslonov and Party for Nation Revolution.

We are also unwavering in our call for the freedom of wrongfully arrested Ismail Zhaparov and Olivia Kaplan and demand President Yunis Arslonov listen to the voice of the people.

Brave defenders of the homeland disperse anti-homeland agents in Cise

For months, Cise, the capital of Utaristan, was under attack by violent rioters opposed to the guidance of President Yunis Arslonov and the Party for National Revolution, but now, thanks to presidential decree, the Special Office of Anti-corruption Investigations has been reformed into the Special Bureau of Anti-homeland Activities, authorised to protect Utaristan from subversive elements supported by foreign western powers, mainly Istalia.

These "protesters", in reality violent thugs, have terrorised Cise for months with their violence, calling for the release of Ismail Zhaparov and Olivia Kaplan, well-known foreign-sponsored terrorists. In order to ensure rule of law and order, agents of the Special Bureau had to forcefully disperse these illegal activities. President Arslonov himself has given a statement, calling for peace and stability and telling the violent bandits to peacefully stand down.

In a barbarous act of violence unseen since the civil war, the forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Utaristan and the Special Bureau of Anti-Homeland Activities have fired at innocent protesters in Cise, killing an unknown number of people and injuring thousands.

The capital of Utaristan, Cise, has seen clashes between pro-democratic forces and the governing Party for National Revolution under President Yunis Arslonov, which have been occurring since April 5633 and have been growing since. In October last year the situation escalated, as President Arslonov gave the former Special Office of Anti-Corruption Investigations an even wider range of power, transforming it into the current Special Bureau of Anti-Homeland Activities in the process. The Special Bureau has also been provided by the so-called Anti-Homeland Active Intervention Force, practically a state militia, which has immediately begun to crack down on protests. While no people are known to have disappeared or died, though it is of course possible, all arrested were returned with signs of physical violence. Our reaction at (former) Utaristan Times was forced to write reports at gunpoint, and several of our colleagues have been detained for some time.

However, now the cup of our patience has run over, as the oppressive regime that ruled this country for the past decades has begun to openly fire at its own people. A few hours ago, a peaceful gathering of around 26 thousand people was violently broken up by the military and state-supported militias. Casualties are unknown, but the dead are sure to number in the hundreds, with many times more injured.

We can no longer turn a blind eye to these injustices, and thus we, the staff of the Utaristan Times, break free and declare the Free Information Council. Our mission and message are simple: we will hold onto our post as long as possible, broadcasting all these injustices as far as possible. We call on every Utaristani, be it Ashker, Ciltay, Utari, or Hulstrian, who loves their country, their family, and their freedom, to break free and join us in revolution. Long live Free Utaristan!

Barricades divide Utaristani cities

It has been several months since President Yunis Arslonov and his Party for National Revolution massacred innocent civilians, and the country is shaking at its core. Barricades begin to spring up as the Utaristani people finally rise up against their protestors. While the protests in Cise have been violently suppressed, thanks to the heroes of the Free Information Council, people rise up in the streets of other major Utaristani cities, mainly Altunshahr, Mingtepa, and Fayzabad.

The various protests are coordinated by the United Democratic Front of Utaristan and have a unified aim: to bring down the party-state and return democracy to our country. While most of the countryside is technically under the control of the regime, in reality they maintain tacit neutrality. Large cities are meanwhile divided by rapidly constructed barricades between the protestors and government regimes.

No casualties have been reported yet, but no one can tell for how long this will last. According to rumours several brigades of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Utaristan have refused their orders to intervene in affected cities. Despite this, several armed convoys belonging to the 27th Brigade have been seen moving to secure Cise, which is fully under government control.

The United Democratic Front of Utaristan and the staff of the Voice newspaper call on the international community to support the people of Utaristan in any way possible and to not let hope of a new democracy die.

Utaristani government and democrats enter negotiations as the stability of the regime worsens

In an upset to the balance of power and the fragile peace that lasted for over a year, several brigades of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Utaristan refused commands from the staff to destroy the barricades built by protestors and crush the Democratic forces and have instead declared their allegiance to the United Democratic Front of Utaristan. In reaction to this, several military units that were composed of mainly ethnic minorities have also risen up, declaring their allegiance to the until now unknown Utari Liberation Front and Hulstrian National Army, respectively.

With this the central government of Utaristan under President Arslonov and the Party for National Revolution has lost control over Utaristan outside of Cise and a few rural areas in the east. Seeing its unmaintainable situation, President Arslonov has offered peace talks to the leaders of UDFU, and as no one in the right state of mind wishes for a second civil war, negotiations have begun. However, both ULF and HNA have refused negotiation and instead begun to take over territories ethnically dominated by Utaris and Hulstrians, respectively.

It remains to be seen if the negotiations will be successful, but there are hopes that the regime and the UDFU will reach a compromise. The main point of contention is free elections, as the UDFU demands completely free and fair elections, while Arslonov wants guaranteed 30% seats for the Party for National Revolution. While ULF and HNA reject negotiations, they have signalled willingness to negotiate if some sort of autonomy or privileges is given to the minorities.

According to leaks there is possibility Istalia will hold conference between all factions but this has not been confirmed yet.

Utaristani negotiations lead to electoral compromise

Following months of tense negotiations, the representatives of the United Democratic Front of Utaristan and the regime of President Yunis Arslonov and the Party for National Revolution and representatives of the Hulstrian and Utari minorities have resulted in a compromise, officially known as the Joint Agreement Guaranteeing Stability and Democracy in the Republic of Utaristan.

While Arslonov and his followers managed to avoid their rightful punishment, they were still forced into an unfavourable compromise. According to the Joint Agreement, Arslonov will resign and be banned from running for political office. Harsher punishment will be given to the leaders of the Special Bureau of Homeland Activities and its Anti-Homeland Active Intervention Force, mainly the Special Director Damir Orozaliev, who will receive life-long imprisonment.

Despite earlier refusal, representatives of the Utari Liberation Front and the Hulstrian National Army have also attended the talks and signed the Joint Agreement. In return the forced assimilation pursued by the regime will be stopped, and ethnic minorities will have the right to be educated in their own language and interact with the local administrations in their respective languages.

The most important of the Joint Agreement is, however, the electoral section. As per the Joint Agreement, elections will be held within two years, however, with several restrictions. There will only be 3 electoral subjects on the ballot: the Party for National Revolution, the United Democratic Party of Utaristan, and the Alliance of Ethnic Minority Interests. Additionally, the PNR will be guaranteed 25% of the mandates of the National Assembly, and AEMI will be guaranteed 10% of the seats. The National Assembly will be expanded to 400 mandates, but due to the aforementioned guarantees, practically only 260 mandates will be elected.

In order to ensure unity and stability, Utaristan will remain a presidential republic, however, the structure of the Council of Ministers, Ministries, Bureaus, and Offices will be greatly reformed. The Ministry of Information and its Utaristan State Media Corporation will be entirely dissolved. A minor part of the agreement also adopts new flag and coat of arms, one less stained by the previous regime.

It is clear that the arrangement comes with many problems and obstacles, such as the forced unity of ethnic minorities, under the AEMI, or the clear unfairness of the entire system. However, despite this, the fears of a second civil war still outweigh any radicalism. It remains to be seen if this arrangement can last, however, people of Utaristan are beginning to have hope for a better future.

Ismail Zhaparov and Olivia Kaplan freed under the secret Joint Agreement clauses

As the nation remains uncertain about the Joint Agreement, and the future that awaits Utaristan following it's adoption by the government and the opposition, a new and sudden, but awaited news have hit the nation yesterday morning: Special Bureau of Anti-Homeland Activities (VQHMB) has announced that Ismail Zhaparov, demographer in the State University of Cise (CiDU) and Olivia Kaplan, environmental activist, illegally arrested by then-Special Office of Anti-Corruption Investigations (KQTMX) and went through a, what many described as a "sham trial", will be freed later that morning with all charges dropped against the two.

Hundreds of pro-democracy protestors, opposition leaders, like Merxat Qassim of the United Democratic Front of Utaristan (UBDF) and close ones have came to the Xarmoq Prison in Imoriy to meet the just-freed prisoners. "This right here shows that fighting relentlessly works, fighting for simple human rights, fighting for those who make sure that our country remains great and gets even better", said wife of Ismail Zhaparov, Nafis Zhaparova. Both Kaplan and Zhaparov refused to speak much, but both praised and thanked the efforts done by the protestors and negotiators to free both of them. "I saw tens of thousands of young Utaristanis marching across the nations, standing still despite the absolutely horrifying and troubling efforts by the Arslonov regime to disperse them. Seeing that with my own eyes brings me hope, brings me happiness, that our next generation is indeed the future, and it is bright", Zhaprov told to all gathered in front of the Xarmoq Prison.

Qassim, who was one of the main negotiators during the talks with the Arslonov and his regime, spoke as well, talking about the secret clause that was not published in the initial document, saying that Arslonov personally advocated for the political prisoners clause to be secret. When journalists asked to why did now-former President do that, Qassim simply shrugged. "We still have a lot of work to do, and hundreds of unfairly prisoned citizens to free, and it will still be an uphill battle, but I am thankful to every Utaristanis who volunteers to our cause, because when we are together, we get news like these", Qassim finished.
